Grey Pleats and the Silver Shrug

Oh, my friends, things were so much better today! My mood was lighter, my heart was lighter.
Nothing special happened - and I'm still really tired - but my mojo must have picked up all your good vibes. Thank you!

  • Shrug - Le Chateau, thrifted; purchased here for $6.00
  • Velvet top - Beechers Brook, c. 1999, thrifted; last worn here in October 2017 with a major pouffy skirt
  • Skirt - Marc Jacobs, thrifted; purchased here for $19.99
  • Shoes - Queen Transcendant, Fluevog; last worn here in November 2017 with velvet and butterfly
  • Coat (below) - Vassali, consignment; last seen here in January

And even though I was in so much grey today, I felt really good.
One of the first times I wore a shrug on my blog was here in August 2008 - flashback! I'm only 40 there, wow!

This silk skirt was such a pleasure to wear. It swoops, it swirls, it rustles! It screams quality. Look how big it is!
I've been searching in vain for it online, but must conclude it is pre-Internet, somewhere in the late 90s or early 00s. This skirt was made in the USA, and I'm sure that Mr. Jacobs no longer manufactures there.

I loved this pretty sparkly shrug! Shrugs are due for a comeback, I say.
I'd originally planned to wear the velvet top untucked, but it looked sloppy, so I crammed it into the (very) small waistband, and threw this metal belt over it.

Outerwear - it was beautiful and sunny for my walk home.
My Lewis Vuitton scarf floated along on the breeze. I love this velvet and wool coat - that plaid design is over a cream satin lining.

  • Scarf  - fake Louis (Lewis!) Vuitton, thrifted
  • Studded leather gloves - Danier Leather

The stuff:
Such fun shoes - they got a lot of love in the office today.

Yes, that is a ball and claw heel.
 Fit for a queen!

Silver bling:
I think the belt is aluminum - it's very light.

  • Belt - vintage fair
  • Hematite rings - thrifted
  • Earrings - thrifted

  1. So glad to know things are on the upswing. And oh my, that ensemble is gorgeous. The color combination—greys with cranberry— is one of my favorites! That skirt is particularly fabulous.

  4. Grey and burgundy is such a great combo. I love a pleated skirt, and this one is such a wonderfully swoopy 'n swirly one. And Marc Jacobs for $ 19,99? What a bargain! The belt is stunning, and so are those awesome shoes. I've never seen a heel like that! I've got a couple of shrugs tucked away somewhere, maybe I should dig them out. xxx
