Whew! It's been a whirlwind of stuff the last couple of days. Miss me? I've been working late, going out and generally living a very busy life.
Here's Thursday's outfit:
I had intended to wear a cardigan and sweater with the Happy Wanderer skirt, but I'd forgotten that the skirt is way too big on my waist (it has gone to the giveaway pile), so I had to scramble to put an outfit together at the last minute in the morning. I already had the jewelry and boots assembled, so I had to work with them. Plus I had the socks on and I wasn't going to go hunting for tights when time was a-tickin'.This is my chunky indigo blue sweater, last seen here (3rd outfit, after the Mad Hatter) in October.
The skirt was adored by me when I wore it in the October 2012 capsule (recap here), where I wore it three times (last time here). I thrifted it for only $7.50 and I totally scored there. The quality is superb.
The boots are my similarly adored Babycakes Minis boots, last seen here (3rd outfit, after the golden disco girl!) in early October.
The stuff:
Put a bird on it! It makes everything better.
A less-dark picture:
Yesterday after work, Elaine and I went out for dinner, then went to see "Out of Africa" - we're reading the book for Book Club and neither of us had seen it. It was good, but very long. I got home quite late. *yawn*
Sweater (Dex, thrifted), skirt (Julius, with a W&J Wilson label, thrifted), boots (Babycakes Minis, Fluevog), belt/earrings (Plum), necklace (gift from Mom), key ring (Oscar & Libby's), spinner ring (Twang & Pearl).
One of my coworkers told me I was on the Unlimited Woman's Facebook page, so I grabbed the picture.
L calls this “Delightfully overwrought and romantic.” |
A few of you have asked about Vizzini - he's been around. He's full of beans.
"Go away...unless you're going to feed me." |
"What, can't a cat sit in peace?" |
Today, I had to work late to finish the newsletter. My boss is back from vacation on Tuesday (Monday is a holiday here, Remembrance Day), so I had to finish it before then, and I'm definitely not up for working late on a Friday night before a long weekend!
Swoosh, swoosh, swoosh! I love this skirt. It makes a loud noise when I walk.
I last wore this fabulous fringed suede skirt in the January 2013 capsule (recap here), last time here with my embroidered black velvet blazer. I paid only $10 for it a few years ago. Score!
I wore my new-to-me thrifted black suede shirt today - oh, it was marvellously soft and pliable to wear. Love love love it. I purchased it here for $24.99.
The boots are my grey wooly Fluevogs, last worn here (2nd outfit) to the Vintage Fair.
The stuff:
My lovely Shi Studio belt. I like the nubby texture of the leather.
Leather shirt (True Character, thrifted), suede skirt (vintage 70s, thrifted, Pioneer Wear), boots (Prepare Volunteers, Fluevogs), "S" charm (gift from Mom & Dad), earrings (Oscar & Libby's), Fulvia Ring (Wendy Brandes).
Are any of your couches missing? I think perhaps Vizzini ate one and the vet couldn't see it - the old forest for the trees syndrome. You'd better smear toothpaste or mint all over that couch so he doesn't eat it too!
ReplyDeleteYou're a schuper schtar! Love the glimpse of the photo shoot.
And I love the autumnal feel of your outfit, especially with the bird necklace which reminds me of crows, such clever birds.
What an awesome picture of you in the photo shoot! I can't wait to see your profile there and the results. Your fascinating bra contraption also has me intrigued. I have low-backed shirts that I cannot seem to figure out and I'm going to try to jury-rig something like what you did. So handy!
ReplyDeleteFor a quickly put together outfit, the first one looks great! I'd do much worse in a rush. I think it speaks to the versatility of your wardrobe that it looks so planned and perfect.
ReplyDeleteLove your last-minute look! It looks very well planned-out (I had to do this yesterday, when my dress was too itchy). Hey Vizzini - great to see your appetite is back : >
ReplyDeleteLove both outfits!! I find myself pulling on a skirt/sweater combo frequently for work these days!
ReplyDeleteThe suede shirt is going to be a good player in your wardrobe--so much potential!! Although anything would look good with a fabulous fringed aqua skirt of awesomeness!!
Vizzini is so so cute....and evil looking!! Behind those wide innocent eyes lurks trouble!!
I love that top outfit - I may even try to duplicate it once I'm not pregnant anymore with a sweater and plaid skirt that i have!
ReplyDeleteLove all of Vizzini's expressions, he is just too much!!
Living a busy life? Sounds right to me! And "delightfully overwrought and romantic" is a wonderful phrase (and way to be).
ReplyDeleteLove love love the second outfit- I mean, both are gorgeous but I'm a sucker for fringe. YOUR SHOES ARE AMAZING. I'm dead from shoe envy.
ReplyDeleteYour lil baby kitty looks adorable. Mine was a black cat, and he's gone now, so I have a particular weakness for black cats. Such a cutie!!
Navy looks so gorgeous on you- and that houndsooth? skirt is a marvel. But outshining even it's quality stern is that marvelous fan-tabulous, amazing-ness turquoise swirl of a skirt in suede. And on you? WOWEEZOWIE. ZOW. WOW.
ReplyDeleteVizzini certainly does look full of beans - and full of couch too, probably! So pleased to know he's better and back to his mischievous self.
ReplyDeleteGreat outfits - love the bird necklace, and the blue suede skirt is amazing. Yee ha! xxxx
great look! Love the birds!

Oh I am glad V is better, and full of beans. The photo shoot looks exciting! Lovely blue and brown outfit, good work for a quick- morning decision. And you are right, birds make everything look great xx
ReplyDeleteI think Vizzini is full of Bananas! Look at that crazy cat face!! Sillyboy! I'm glad he seems back on the up'n'up.
ReplyDeleteWatson is still going through the little bowel upsets of a kitten brought in from the streets, and thankfully after his second go-around of flea meds, has been cleared up! He's fiestier than ever. Even has Spike playing.
