Post-Weekend Neutrals

After that lovely long weekend, facing work today was challenging. I went with neutrals for my armour today.
Not wanting to be seen, not be "out there." Just head down, get through the day.

  • Blazer - Julie Haus, thrifted; last worn here in October 2019 with other toasty tweeds
  • Sleeveless sweater (underneath) - Ellen Tracy, swap from Caro; last worn here in November 2019 under circles and orbs
  • Skirt - TKStyle, thrifted; last seen here (2nd outfit) in December 2019 for a brunch and grocery shop
  • Shoes - DKode, consignment; purchased here yesterday for $18.90
  • Coat (below) - Donna Karan, consignment; last worn here in January

My neutrals are never blah, though. I can't do blah.
A multi-fabric (wool, with silk lining) jacket, with an asymmetrical lapel.

And zippers in interesting places.
My skirt is one piece of fabric with a fin on the side.

Outerwear - it was bright and clear, but brrr, very cold.
Got my puffer, I'm good to go.

  • Scarf - gift from Mom
  • Gloves - Danier Leather

The stuff:
I loved these boots today, and they had many admirers. I walked to a corporate event after work in them and they were great.

POLY bling:
I like mixed metals with mixed neutrals.

  • POLY jewelry:
    • Necklace, bracelet - thrifted
    • Green/steel ring - Art Gallery of Hamilton gift shop
    • Brass ring - vintage expo
  • Earrings - thrifted
  • Silver/gold cuff - JPL, vintage fair

  1. I feel like that sometimes too, although like you, I couldn't be invisible if I tried. You might be wearing neutrals, but I bet you were still the best and most quirkily dressed person at the office, right? I love the asymmetry of both your skirt and your jacket which, by the way, is rather fabulous. Your new shoes are perfect with this outfit too. xxx

    1. Yeah, same, Ann! Of course, I was the most unusual-looking person in the room (I usually am, even when dressed down). I loved the subtle details in this outfit. Thank you!

  2. I love how your outfits are always so you Sheila - even when you're not wearing a riot of colour (which you do so well!) you make the most of special pieces and don't have anything boring. I don't think I'l ever give up my basic tees, too useful for mum life, but you do always inspire me to try other things, even if it's as simple as trying a tee with colours I haven't worn it with before.

    1. This is one of the nicest and best comments I've ever had, Mica, thank you! *hug* You won't always be a mum of young'uns - you may want to change your style as they get older. I'm happy to inspire you.

  4. That should be the subtitle to your biography: "She Was Never Blah."

  6. Those shoes are utterly magnificent! I adore how they channel (some styles of) mid-century winter boots, while having a chicly modern feel at the same time.

  7. This outfit is so well put together. I like all the asymmetrical touches starting with the jacket and moving onto the skirt. Even the boots were bit of extra with their unique design and details. I also really like your puffer. Such a beautiful outfit from head to toe. You looked fantastic in this!!!!
