Miss me? My company had its quarterly meeting last night, and after a few glasses of wine and lounging around on a rooftop patio until it got dark, I tumbled into bed when I got home. So you get a two-fer the price of one today!
Here's Wednesday's outfit, full of things I love.
Whoosh! I caught a breeze on the stairs in the morning. |
- Top - H&M, consignment; last seen here in April with goldenrod
- Skirt - Tribal, consignment; last worn here in June with backwards floral
- Shoes - Prepare Hi Steady, Fluevog; last seen here in September 2016 with zigzags
- Coat (below) - Lord & Taylor, thrifted; last worn here in June
This was a very popular outfit with my work crew.
Except for the shoes (nicknamed "Disco Dutch" by my coworker many years ago when I first got them). They always get mixed reactions.
It has been chilly and windy over the last two days, although it's still sunny out. I needed the coat early in the morning, and again late at night as I tottered home.
I was glad I had it.
The stuff:
You love these or you hate these. There is no in between. It is impossible to be neutral or "meh" about them.
Yellow and white bling:
First wearing of these white "are they or aren't they plastic or Bakelite?" earrings. I bought them in Sidney for $2.00. I think they are, but without testing I can't be sure.
- Cuff - thrifted
- Earrings - thrifted
- Fulvia Ring - Wendy Brandes
Shout out to my awesome co-worker Lada who commented that the outfit today reminded her of a mermaid.
I was so excited! Yes! That's exactly what I was going for!
- Top - Scotch and Soda by Maison Scotch, vintage store in Vancouver; first worn here in April with houndstooth
- Skirt - Alfred Sung, vintage 80s, consignment; last seen here in February with a satin blouse (I need to wear those shoes again!)
- Shoes - Ecco, vintage store in Vancouver; last worn here in April (way down past the closet pics) with a fabulous dress, that I also need to wear again
- Coat (below) - Lord & Taylor, thrifted; last worn yesterday!
I wore a full-length vintage slip under this (you can see a bit of it peeking out of the hem of my skirt in the stair picture) to compensate for the sheer back of the blouse.
That's my ink showing through!
Same coat as yesterday.
I am appreciating that this summer is not as hot as last year's. Our province (BC) is being ravaged by forest fires, and I was thankful that we had some rain overnight. Send more to the interior, please!
The stuff:
Probably the most boring shoes I own, but they were a useful neutral in this outfit. I'm okay with that.
Scaly bling:
I love wearing this set.
- Cuff/earrings - Fossil, gifts from L
- Bracelet - thrifted
I'll be back on Sunday with my Friday, Saturday and Sunday outfits. I'm hosting Winesday on Saturday, and am giving away oodles of stuff from my closet, so I'll be sure to take some pictures of my girlfriends and our mad try-ons! Have a fabulous weekend!
Those disco dutch shoes!!!!
ReplyDeleteI know, right??
DeleteIt does look much too fancy to be a H&M top - but I think that's the good thing about opshopping. You find things you like and love and want to wear and then you look at the label. IT's something I've been missing doing lately, but I'm also aware even if I wasn't doing my no-shop it would be hard to have time to hunt in the opshops with 2 toddlers!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy winesday! Sounds like it will be fun :)
Winesday was a blast!
DeleteYes, I'm always happy to get a surprise from a brand - H&M has been the source of a lot of the surprises!
I really like both outfits! I especially love the first top. It reminds me of Japan. I love your style and I'm so glad I found your blog! Have a great weekend. Xxx
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sasha! Great to have you as a reader! :)
DeleteYou did very well. Lovely outfits. Every time I find time to go to your blog I think to myself "why don't I come here more often? She is so good!" Life gets in the way dear, I am sorry.
ReplyDeleteAs for your shoes, I like the yellow ones (good thing you ignore the remarks of people who don't like them) but I also think your "most boring shoes" are really cute. Wouldn't mind them myself and I normally hate flat shoes.
Greetje
Aw, that's okay - I'm thrilled to have you visit! All kinds of shoes are good with me!
DeleteLove the top by H&M, not surprised, they have excellent styles from time to time and you found it- eagle eyes! Love the shoes, so cool, and the tipped and printed blouse looks like designer, high end to me, especially with that rich green skirt!
ReplyDeleteAs always, I am gaga over that textured eggshell coat!

Yes, I've been pleasantly surprised by a few H&M pieces. The print blouse is by Maison Scotch, which is a high-end brand (expensive!).
Deleteoops! I forgot to mention that beautiful pink bracelet!

Thank you!
DeleteEven though I find most things from H&M sooooo boring, I do love that Crane top. I must be one of those few people who are "Meh" (don't love em, don't hate em)on those shoes. It depends on what you wear them with. The second outfit is very "Mermaid"!
ReplyDeleteWell, there you go! You are the exception to prove the rule! Thanks, Shelley!
DeleteTwo great looks indeed.
ReplyDeleteYou know I am a fan of that H&M top and the bangle and yellow shoes worn together makes these two stand out.
Thanks, Lorena! You really can't go wrong with yellow.
DeleteMy daughter has this crane print in a jacket from H&M and I covet both of them! The mustard shoes are totally funky and yes would be real marmite footwear in that love 'em/hate 'em way.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could lure Greetje to my blog as often as you do. OMG, now I've even got comments envy! Lock me up and throw away the key.

Ooh, I'd love to see that jacket. I get a kick out of the "marmite" comparison! I've met Greetje and we got along well - I'm always thrilled to see her visit, but I so much love your big swacks of comments, thank you!
DeleteI love all of these outfits! The sheer top and the green skirt are a fab combo. I also wear vintage slips under sheer tops or dresses. They also make the outfit look more sleek.
