Lady Green Shoes and Fluffy Cuffs

Wednesday. Over the hump! This'll be my last post for a bit, as tomorrow night is Book Club (and we know that can get a wee bit raucous), followed by an evening with L, followed by a Vintage Fair, followed by Winesday.
It's like I have a life or something. So hopefully this outfit will tide you over until I can regale you with wild tales and impulse purchases. Kidding, I make very few impulse purchases.

  • Dress - Comrags, thrifted; last seen here in October 2016 with a red blouse under it
  • Blouse - CABi, consignment; last worn here in October 2016 in two outfits in one day...including a concert look for Alice Cooper!
  • Shoes - Half Truth Tanya, Fluevog; last seen here in September 2016 with green sleeves post-tattoo
  • Unsafe Polar Bear coat (below) - Apparence, thrifted

Many positive reactions to this overall look today, to all parts of it. It's rare that I get so many comments in real life (good vibes and thanks to those of you who comment - you keep me going!).

  • "Fit and flare!" (from someone who knows fashion)
  • "Swooshy sleeves!"
  • "That's quite a belt!"
  • "I love your shoes!"

I don't actually get a lot of reactions to my outfits on a daily basis. My coworkers are all used to me by now, and our clients know how I dress too. Yawn, yes, purple hair, pretty clothes, yada yada. And the street people downtown can only see my outerwear - ah, bring on spring, when I can again be yelled at that I look like Carol Burnett!
Be worried if I ever go back to brown hair (my non-grey natural colour) and start wearing beige. Very worried. It'll likely be a sign that aliens have replaced me during the night.

Outerwear:
My usual Danier fur toque and scarf, and matchy leather gloves. The cashier at the grocery store complimented my hair. "Thanks, it's totally natural," I said, as I always say. Gets a laugh every time.

The stuff:
Why didn't I buy these in purple when I had the chance? I browse the Fluemarket (link here 'cause I love!) hoping that I'll find a pair in my size (I wear a 10 in these; they run small). Sigh. No luck yet.

Bold bling:
I always feel like a warrior in that belt.

  • Belt - BCBG Max Azria, consignment
  • Earrings - local

Any fun things on your horizon? Do you get compliments on your outfits?

  1. OMG! Those shoes! And you could have bought another colour! Don't you just hate I-should-have-bought-regret? Kind of like purging regret. I regret getting rid of two pairs of LaVallee tall boots at different times in my life. You think I would have learned after the first pair. I still look for similar ones :)

    1. I know, right, Cynthia? At the time, it would have been another $200, but now I wish I'd just gone for it. Ah, well. There are few things that I regret purging - I always have the pictures here!

  2. lovely outfit!, I can't understand why you don't receive more compliments! you deserve (lots of) them!! I'm used to compliment people's clothes, even random people walking the streets, and that's increasing my 'crazy lady' reputation, hurrah!
I love your dress, such a great shape, and it fits you so nicely!. And those shoes!! oh yes, I understand that you want them in purple too!!

    1. Thank you, madam! I think people just get used to seeing me always dressy, so it takes something either more unusual/wacky or something that hits their own comfort zone for them to comment. I also compliment people on the street! It feels good.

  3. I'm not surprised this outfit garnered so many compliments. It's delightful! (Your outfits bring out all sorts of surprising comments from me, hahaha). The shirt sleeves are so pretty as are those shoes, and hey girl why didn't you get them in purple?
Re compliments, I get the most compliments from my husband when we meet up at lunchtime (we miss each other in the morning between his early start and my beach swim). He's full of witty comments and says the kindest things. He really ought to have been a diplomat!
Look forward to catching up again soon x

    1. Ha, yes, I know - I do the same with my comments on other blogs. :) My husband also compliments me (and he always looks awesome for his work), even though we don't always see each other fully dressed in the morning. He gets the "tired version" at the end of the day. Your hubby sounds...delightful!

  4. A handful of times I've gotten compliments on my outfit from colleagues and it's really made my day! It's nice to see that others appreciate the little bit of effort you put into wearing something different. Doesn't always happen but I can remember each and every outfit it has happened with! :)

I really like your layering with the shirt under the dress here - it's making me eager to return to work as I have a similar style of dress I'd like to try wearing more shirts under, I have expanded my collection since last time I wore it to the office, haha! (Funnily enough, it was that black dress and a printed shirt combo that got one of the compliments!)

    1. It's such a nice pick-me-up, isn't it? I value the comments more because they are so infrequent.

Thank you! I love doing this kind of layering with a sleeveless dress (and it allows me to hide my tattoos). Returning to work will be a big change for you, wardrobe-wise.

  5. Love the shoes, love the whole outfit, in fact. I don't get many compliments in real life, either. Just odd looks :-)) xxx

  6. Sheila -- I read your blog every single day. I'm disappointed when there are no updates! Wanted to let you know that I'm here, but just watching quietly in the background. You and I are close in age and I love to see what you do with your clothes, shoes and accessories! Keep doing what you are doing -- I love it!

  11. That really is a fantastic outfit. You make some amazing thrifted finds. I need to find some good vintage fairs and decent charity shops - it can be a new hobby. I don't think you'll ever become what my mum (aged 84) calls a "beige lady" - grey hair and beige outfits.

    1. Thank you so much, Gail! I adore vintage fairs and poking around in thrift/charity shops. It's a very fun hobby, for sure. Nope, I will never be a beige lady.
