Red Leopard and Black Corduroy, and a Boot Swap

Hello, my friends! I'm going to be quick today, because we are headed out to a show very soon!
A good Monday office outfit. A B+ outfit, kind of boring. I probably need a jacket.

  • Blouse - Topshop, thrifted; first worn here in March with burgundy leather
  • Skirt - JW Anderson X Uniqlo, consignment; last seen here for a Mom-Day Adventure in February
  • Boots - Prepare 2.0 Tracker, Fluevog; last worn here in March for our Tweed Magazine photoshoot!
  • Cowboy boots (below) - 1883 Lucchesse, consignment; last seen here in September 2023!
  • Leather coat (below) - Danier Leather; last worn here in March

I have Blouse Malaise, as I am just not feeling them and don't even look at the few I have left in my closet (less than a dozen).
This my second wearing of this red leopard one, and I'm not sure if I'll keep it.

I paired it with this wide-wale black corduroy wrap-around skirt.
Showing off the pockets. I noticed while I was steaming the skirt last night, that there is a small intertwined "JW" on the back.

Right where my thumb is here.
JW is designer JW Anderson. I had never heard of him when I bought this skirt. That's what research is for!

Outerwear.
It was a grey and rainy day, as you can probably guess from the grainy Stair Pic.

Accoutrements:
Old faves!

  • Silk scarf - Elaine Gold, vintage, consignment
  • Hat - gift from Tammy
  • Brooch - Monet, vintage 80s, thrifted
  • Velour gloves - Thinsulate, thrifted

The stuff:
Excellent boots - these are so comfy, but not to the point of walking to town and home and standing in sticky carpet at the Capital Ballroom, while we watch Corb Lund do an acoustic set.

The stuff, part 2!
So I swapped to these red cowboy boots, which...can it possibly be over a year since I wore them? Well, I need to remedy that and break these out more often.

Minimal bling:
Oops, I forgot to include my bracelets! Can you imagine them based on my listing below?

  • Silver/gold cuff (not shown) - JPL, vintage fair
  • Silver hinged cuff bracelet (not shown) - vintage, thrifted, Powell River
  • Earrings - Tania Gleave, Granville Island
  • Silver/obsidian ring - consignment
  • Silver/concrete ring - Raul Caballeros, Oui Jewelry
  • Silver/red stone ring - thrifted
  • Silver/onyx ring - Tocara, vintage fair
  • Pinky ring - Dots

Just enough time to dash home, grab dinner and walk back to town.
And change my boots!

I edited to add a couple of photos when we got home.
Me and L, parked in a sweet spot at the Capital Ballroom.

Corb Lund, former member of the Smalls, now 10 albums into his solo country career. We've seen him a couple of times, here in January 2016, here in November 2010 to see the Smalls reunion.
This was a 1 hour and 15 minute acoustic set, just him and his guitar.

I've never seen the Capital Ballroom with seats in it before.
Pals Nick and Casey were there (that's them on the right - the two white-heads). We were home by 9:30pm, and Corb did another set!

  1. I often fall into that same kind of malaise. It's usually about sweaters, though. I have so many and could get rid of them, but then I'd have regret. Luckily, I have a huge closet and don't really need to get rid of them...yet. Love the boots...both pairs!

    1. Sweaters are tricky for me (not too thick, not too thin!). Thanks, Marsha!

  2. Agreed with Marsha, for me it's malaise over sweaters - I only have three sweaters with the colors, patterns, fit and material that make me happy. The rest of my sweaters are purely functional but not lovable. Till those are replaced I must keep them or suffer the fate of wearing the three loved ones to the point of no longer liking them! So, with that said, I'd say pass the blouse along to someone who will go "wow" over it. Follow your advice: always be trading up. :-)
    Cheers, Laurie

    1. That's so interesting, Laurie! I don't have a ton of sweaters, but definitely more of them than blouses. I agree, the blouse will likely leave my closet. Thank you for the reminder!

  3. I'm hearing you, as I've got a bout of Dress Malaise myself. I'm not giving my full to bursting rail of dresses the love they deserve ... I'm still reluctant to let go, though, but I've promised myself to put those which aren't at least an "A" into Limbo.
Nothing wrong with your outfit, by the way, but I don't think it's very "you" right now.
Loving both pairs of boots! xxx

    1. I think only keeping "A" grade dresses is a good practice, Ann! Thanks so much for your candor - I like the skirt, but the blouse is Limbo-bound.

  4. I really like that blouse on you but if you're not feelin' it than it's gotta go! Both pairs of boots are stunners. I'm off to Google Corb Lund! I'm delighted that you and L are loving John Grant! xxx

  5. Fab boots but I can see why you're not happy with the blouse. Corb Lund sounds interesting and I'm going to look him up. I love acoustic sets!

  6. I'm not a fan of blouses myself, I think I've got 2? We can't like it all right! Sounds like a cozy evening!

  7. I have an issue with blouses too. I just never feel comfortable in them. I hate having to constantly re-adjust or tuck in excess material. I find dresses or more fitted t-shirts and skirts way easier. That said, I do love the colours in yours.
Live music is the best. Glad you had a good night!

    1. So funny - most of us are "over" blouses, it would seem, Claire! Thanks so much!
