Satin, Silk Tweed...and Sick

The minutes are starting to count in the mornings. Only a couple of minutes make all the difference in the light outside now. Soon, I'll be a ghost again!
In all seriousness, at about 2pm this afternoon, it felt like a truck hit me. Sore throat, headache, flushed cheeks, then shivers. Yep, I'm sick. In a fit of pro-activity, I left my keys and a long list of things happening at work tomorrow with a coworker...in case I can't make it in. I've only taken a few sick days in nearly 3 years at this job - I'm one of those bad people who goes in anyway.

So, forgive me for posting and running, but my bed is calling.

Blouse: silky orange, oversized, love the colour. Buttoned up with big necklace (a very 1986 look, I recall - I should have a brooch on there too). Last wore it here in September with my leather pants and this same belt/buckle.
It's a good colour on me
Skirt: part of a suit, rarely worn as a suit. Last wore it in March, here. It's silk tweed and very very soft.
Butt shot!

The stuff:
Poor sad, almost worn-out shoes, last worn with almost-Hermes here in September. I would like them in all the colours - all of them!

Shiny shiny
Groovy green necklace from the Vintage Expo (too...tired...to...link...), bought for $14.00. It's all second-hand, anyway.

Be not sick. Going to bed now.

Blouse (Mark, thrifted), skirt (Precis Petites), shoes (Hale Bob), belt (Shi Studio), buckle (Shi Studio, thrifted), necklace (second-hand), earrings (Lisner, vintage 60s, thrifted), ring (consignment).

  1. Feel better! I felt under the weather at work today, too.

LOVE that green vintage necklace! Swoon! That is so my style!

  2. Oh no! I hope you feel better -- and remember, sometimes one day off of work at the beginning, is much much better than struggling through a few more days of work, and then needing 2 or 3 sick days to get better later on!

  5. You're right, the blouse is a good colour on you, and I am laughing at the 1986 reference! The oversized-ness totally works with the pencil skirt.
Oh dear, hope you aren't feeling terrible for long, look after yourself, Sheila. xxx

  7. I had that thing, whatever it is. You must rest and take care of yourself and not go in to work. Mine lasted a couple of weeks during which time I was exhausted. I hope you are lucky and get over it very quickly. And the blouse is beautiful.

  11. Hoping that you feel better soon. Your silky orange blouse is beautiful! I too love the color.

I'm in love with the hat that you wore in your last post. In fact, I was totally taken with the entire outfit, including the seamed hosiery!

  12. Feel better Sheila. I think it's that time of year because I've been laid out myself with this dragging cold. I'd be happier if I just got sick and got over it, but it's lingering.

Hope you bounce back quickly. I suggest lots of kitty cuddles, naps, and hot tea.

  15. So sorry to hear you're sick. That's one of the miserable things about this time of year - that and the lack of light for photos.

The colors and textures of the blouse and skirt are just beautiful together - such a lovely contrast. The color of the blouse is like baby aspirin, which you should take right now with lots of water.
