Mixed Space - Silver, Orange and Luke and Yoda

Today's outfit is built around this new-to-me shiny silver top...and it's not staying with me. Just getting that out of the way up front.
It's a not-nice-feeling polyester and it doesn't sit right on me. Gone! Off to Limbo!

  • Top - Club Monaco, consignment; purchased here for $37.12
  • Skirt - Max Mara, consignment; last worn here in January 2024 with yellow leather
  • Shoes - Star Wars by Irregular Choice; last seen here in October 2024 with a spacey blue dress
  • Eclipse coat - Welsh, vintage 60s, consignment; last worn here in November 2024

Someone else will love it.
The cool orange skirt, on the other hand, I enjoyed wearing again.

It's a wool mix, and the amoeba-like shapes are a thick texture. It's nice to touch.
I'm keenly looking at all items in my closet as I get closer to another closet sale.

I like this outfit better from the back.
That's why I bought it - I liked the back. However, the front...yeah, no.

Hooray for outerwear!
I'd nearly forgotten about my Eclipse coat! It's a thick woven texture.

Still glaringly sunny.
It's lovely - but they are forecasting "flurries" for the end of the week! We could use the moisture.

Accoutrements:
I needed longer gloves - my wrists were cold!

  • Fur scarf - thrifted
  • Leather gloves - Ralph Lauren, thrifted

The stuff:
My colleagues Viz, Emilio and Sofia were horrified when they saw my Star Trek badge...and my Star Wars shoes. "You're mixing your space!" Eh, don't care.

I went with a general "space" theme.
A better shot of Yoda and Luke. Hi, guys!

Space bling:
Round things ("that's no moon!"), a spiral galaxy? Sure!

  • Silver/gold cuff - JPL, vintage fair
  • Magnetic pin - Star Trek Voyager, MoPOP Gift Shop, Seattle
  • Spiral brooch - Sarah Coventry, vintage 70s, vintage fair
  • Silver/Lucite bracelet - Alexis Bittar, consignment, Vancouver
  • Silver/onyx ring - Tocara, vintage fair
  • Silver/crystal ring - Soul Flower
  • Earrings - vintage fair

  1. What a shame about the top as it had a lot of promise. Secretly I'm glad I'm not the only one this is happening to ...
The skirt is gorgeous, though, and I'm loving the peek of matching orange of your socks :-)

    1. I thought so too, Ann! I'm disappointed that I bought it in the first place. Yes! I loved the little orange socks too!

  2. This morning it occurred to be there is a definite difference between our approach to getting dressed. You usually stick with an outfit even if you aren't thrilled with it, determined to give each piece its opportunity for an outing, a 'try it and see' approach. I, on the other hand, have been known (particularly for non-day-to-day outfits) to change my clothes multiple times till the outfit feels right, rather than give an ensemble its chance.
Of course, now that I've typed all that I realize you probably do something similar but instead of doing it daily you do it when playing in your closet and planning a week's outfits. Fred would say this entire paragraph has been a murmuring aloud. ;-)
Love your jewelry, the orange skirt and Eclipse coat! I'm not disappointed the silver top is heading elsewhere. :-)
    Cheers, Laurie

    1. I simply don't have time to fuss around with changing things in the morning, Laurie - I have to shower, dress, do make-up, take my pictures, eat breakfast and set up Vizzini with his hot water bottle. No time to try other things out.
When I do my weekend "play time" in my closet, I will often try things on if they are an odd shape or proportion, especially if they are new, just to make sure the outfit works. It's often when I DON'T do this that my outfit ends up feeling off. For weekend or Mom-Day outfits, I have more time and can build more slowly and try things and change my mind.
I appreciate your murmuring aloud! :D
No, I'm not disappointed either - it will go to a good home.

    1. I'll take some pictures as I do my sorting and pricing. Last time, I didn't have a moment to take pictures, so we'll see how it goes this time round. Thanks, Vix!
