Snakes, Bugs and Orange

What is this, Hallowe'en?
I'm covered in creepy-crawlies. It's my secret armour.

  • Blouse - Divided, thrifted; purchased here for $11.95
  • Camisole (not shown) - Mexx, thrifted; purchased here for $8.95
  • Trousers - Long Tall Sally, consignment; last worn here in October 2023, the first 'fit of the season
  • Shoes - Seychelles, consignment; last seen here in September 2023 with the Spanish Ladies dress
  • Coat (below) - River Island, consignment; last worn here in October 2023

I've been playing around in my closet with some of my new-to-me things, pairing them up with existing clothes.
What goes with the pattern of this blouse? The orange of the coral snake pops out to me.

Ergo, orange pants.
I just barely tucked the front (it's very short already) to show off my belt.

I layered a newly-thrifted orange camisole underneath.
I loved wearing this and my colleagues gave it a big thumbs up. I pointed out the skeleton and the death's head moths, of course.

Incognito.
It was too cold and windy to wear this snakeskin print faux leather coat open like this. I wanted to!

But I wore it like this.
Still pretty badass.

The stuff:
Weather's getting warmer, no gloves needed - but I was glad of my pockets. I'd forgotten about these lovely shoes, which are perfectly comfortable. "I want those when you're done with them," said Jessica.

Snake and bug bling:
The scarf is covered in bugs - it was a wedding shower gift from Janet, almost 30 years ago. I poked a hole in this belt with an X-acto blade to do it up a little tighter.

  • Silk scarf - Smoking Lily, vintage 1997, gift from Janet
  • Belt - Simons, thrifted; purchased here for $12.95
  • Snake cuff - Whiting & Davis, vintage 1970s, vintage mall
  • Gold bangle - thrifted
  • Amber ring - c. 1996
  • Silver poison ring - Mexican, Karen's
  • Necklace/earrings - Robert Lee Morris, consignment, NWT, Vancouver; purchased here for $70 for the set
I loved wearing my new necklace and earrings set, and liked their 70s vibe. Win!

  1. Yes, yes, definite thumbs up for this outfit! My eye went directly to your new Vancouver-purchased earrings and necklace - they are a fabulous set and so perfect with this super outfit. Color, perfect drape of pants and top, proportion…it all works in glorious harmony! And I like that your shoes look comfortable and do not need shoe math to convince me of that comfort. ;) Plus they are like sandals!! (Surely that bodes well for warmer temps!)

  2. Oh yeah, I'm a fan of those sandals, too. They're like the grown up version of the Clarks ones us Brits of a certain age wore at infant school.
The orange of the trousers really does pick out the groovy print on your blouse, excellent choice. xxx

  4. That coat is fabulous I think! And the orange trousers are super! What a colour orange actually is. I never liked it bit the last years I've come to appreciate it.

  5. I love how you made that blouse's pattern pop by combining it with those gorgeous orange trousers. Another fan of those sandals here too, and I'm swooning over that magnificent faux snakeskin coat! xxx

  6. I love that blouse with the boss lady pants, you're right that it goes so well with the bright snake in the print, and I like how that lead you to the snake print coat too! You look wonderful as always!

  7. As a child, I had sandals like this (in pale blue) but wasn't particularly fond of them! Now I LOVE your ones! You've just reminded me I've got some lovely cut out shoes to wear this Summer which I got in the charity shop last year but didn't mind!
I like your bugs shirt- that's really cool and the pants are brilliant! xx
