Sequins and Leopard For Work

I'm sure I'll end up on some sort of "Things You Shouldn't Wear When You're Nearly Fifty, Fer Goodness' Sake, My Poor 20-Something Eyes" list with this outfit.
But yes, I wore double leopard with sequins! To work! To two jobs, actually. And everyone loved it.

  • Blouse - Planet, consignment; last seen here in November 2016 with a leather dress
  • Dress - Esprit; last worn here (2nd outfit) in September 2016 with a floofy blouse for theatre with Mom
  • Boots - Mini Babycakes, Fluevog; last seen here (3rd outfit) in October 2016 for a casual weekend brunch
  • Coat (below) - BCBG Max Azria, thrifted

So shiny! And leopard-y! This is row upon row of sequins sewn onto a t-shirt tank dress. I bought it at Plum on massive clearance when they closed about 6 years ago.

You know I love it when they do the back!
I've worn this dress with the scoop in the back as well as the front. It doesn't get a huge amount of wear, but it's very comfy and rather dramatic, don't you think?

Outerwear:
It's chilly in the mornings now and warm by afternoon - how quickly things change! I did not need my Club Monaco (consignment) leather gloves with cashmere/wool lining by the time I walked to my WW meeting after work.

The stuff:
Such fab boots. Away you go for another season. See you in September!

Brass bling:
Most of this stuff will be packed away too. I now have such a large collection of costume jewelry, that I have to separate it out, otherwise some pieces get neglected.

  • Earrings - Plum
  • Spinner ring - Twang & Pearl
  • Amber stone ring - late 90s
  • Bronze ring - P. Sarpaneva, 70s, vintage expo

Speaking of leopard, Vizzini and I matched today.
"Really? But I'm busy watching the seagulls on the neighbours' roof."
I had to go in for a pat.
"Woman, are you taking my picture?"
Aw, look at that face!
"Are my mustachios straight?"
I can't resist him - he's so soft!

  1. That sequin dress is awesome! And I can see why everyone loved this outfit. I think we should definitely wear whatever makes us happy, and who cares what others might think, or what we should or shouldn't wear. We are the ones wearing it in the end, so we are the only person that matters! :)

    1. Thanks, Mica! It was so fun to wear - and I actually forgot I was wearing sequins. I totally agree - what what you want and what you love!

  2. I love that you take such care in putting together your attire. Just one question....where do you keep everything? Do you have a budget for your clothing acquisitions?

    1. Hi, Daisy, thanks for your question - I actually JUST did a post on this, so I hope you see it. Closet swap-over, done!

  3. I envy that you can wear such fun clothes to work. My office-environment requires more conservative-wear. A loud necktie is about as far as I can go.

    1. I am very grateful that I can pretty much wear whatever I like to work, and I know I'm lucky to be able to do so. I could never work in the legal field.

  4. Double leopard - MEOW. And then you conceal part of it under that Doris Day-ish coat. Double meow. Speaking of meow, Vizzini is the cutest (oh, he would hate that description), most adorable manly cat.

    1. Purr! So fun, isn't it? I had a ball wearing this. Vizzini grudgingly accepts the "cute" label.

  5. I absolutely love this outfit on you. I have been looking for an animal print; preferably leopard print shirt/blouse for absolutely ages. I haven't found one yet so I have high hopes of finding one in Ireland...

    Those boots are amazing!

  6. Leopard and sequins are perfectly good office wear (at least in my book!). I love Vizzini's white eyebrows and whiskers. My kitty has the same big green-gold eyes.

    1. Thank you, and yes, I agree! Vizzini's eyebrows vary, but are always uneven.
