My quest to be Extra-Profesh is paying off - work is going smoothly - and I'm still feeling like myself.
Which has been good...as I have an update on Vizzini's health, and I wanted to make sure y'all prepare yourselves. I won't drag this out, but I also don't wish it to be a shock.
- Denim fin top - 3.1 Philip Lim, consignment; last worn here in September 2024 with a white denim skirt
- Shirt - Eddie Bauer, consignment; last seen here in March with my Tweed cover skirt
- Linen blend pants - Zara, thrifted; last worn here in June 2024 with a pajama jacket
- Booties - Matisse, thrifted; last seen here in February with grey and pink
- Coat (below) - L'Atiste, consignment, Vancouver; last worn here in March
His breathing has become heavier and a quick perusal of the interwebz tells you that is not a great sign. Despite this, he is still a little monkey and tried to escape into the hall this morning.
"The hallway has always belonged to me."
We have a vet appointment soon, and we may need to make a hard decision - our poor boy's appetite has been erratic and his energy levels have dropped drastically. I know some of you have been here for his whole life (remember this tiny kitty here in June 2011?), so I didn't want any of this to come as a shock. He has been on borrowed time for a while - kidney disease is inexorable.
So you will forgive me - I couldn't bear to crop him out of my morning photos.
"I'm always here, just out of sight."
And I'm also trying to keep myself together so I am going to continue to talk about my outfits and other Normal Things.
I really liked how this denim fin looked the first time that I wore it (here, last July) when I paired it with a white shirt and wide boss pants in chartreuse.
I really liked how this denim fin looked the first time that I wore it (here, last July) when I paired it with a white shirt and wide boss pants in chartreuse.
"I'm feeling rather snubbed."
I decided to repeat that formula with the same white shirt and a different pair of Boss Pants. These red linen Zara (made in Spain!) trousers are pulling apart at the crotchal and back seams. They were starting to do this when I originally bought them, but it's becoming more noticeable...to the point where I can't expose that region when I wear them. I did not pose this way in real life!
This vest thing is perfect, as it covers all that business.
This felt like a suit of armour, protecting me from sad thoughts.
It's doing all of the weathers out there - a very typical spring!
Accoutrements:
I enjoyed sporting that little vintage Halston logo.
- Silk scarf - Halston, vintage 70s, thrifted
- Bucket hat - Babaton, consignment
- Leather gloves - Picabo, Powell River
These booties were very comfy in the office, where I alternated between meetings and walking around.
Minimal bling:
I bought the leather tie for L for Christmas a few years ago, and he gave it back to me (not his vibe). They can't all be winners - but it's a win for me, 'cause I get this awesome 80s relic. So chic.
- Leather tie - vintage 80s, thrifted
- Silver/lapis lazuli ring - Wendy Brandes
- Silver/kyanite ring - consignment
- Silver/sodalite ring - Scotland, 1996
- Silver earrings - consignment
Vizzini was still lurking around when I put my coat on, so I gently picked him up.
Your good vibes are appreciated, thank you, my friends.
Sending all the good vibes to you and Vizzini! - a long time reader
ReplyDeleteGreat outfit, the fin top is awesome. Many good thoughts to you and much love to Vizzini ❤️. We bid farewell to one of ours last year from CKD.
ReplyDeleteAwww Vizzini. I hope he will be okay or at least get to spend some last happy days with you. I know this would be very hard for you. Sending you hugs and give Vizzini a cuddle for me. X
ReplyDeleteOh Vizzini. Sending you & L lots of love and kind thoughts, Jon & I know exactly what you're going through. You've been such amazing cat parents and your beautiful little lad couldn't have had a better and more loving home. xxx
ReplyDeleteHugs and good vibes to Vizzini and You. take care, Lise
ReplyDeleteVizzini matches your outfit! (And your outfit is fabulous. :)) He’s a very quiet kitty…maybe he could come to work with you in one of your big totes. (Well, one can imagine :)). Sending all three of you hugs and positive vibes. He’s become known to us through his many caption posts and he’s a part of your blog. I think he has a grand sense of self and humor. ;)
ReplyDeleteHugs, Laurie
Oh no. Poor kitty (and Sheila and L). I can't imagine. Sending all my good vibes and love to all of you.
ReplyDeleteHugs to you, L and of course Vizzini from me, Bonzo, Lucky and Sylvester!
ReplyDeleteSending all best possible thoughts to you, L, and your beloved V. Take the best possible care of yourselves during this sad time.
ReplyDeleteOh your sweet boy <3 Wishing the best for him. And you too! ~Ella
ReplyDeleteOh no, poor Vizzini! I know exactly what you're going through and it's so, so hard. I read your post at work this morning and Vizzini's been in my thoughts all day. I'm glad to hear he's still a little monkey in spite of everything ...
ReplyDeleteAt times like these, we need to take pleasure in our outfits more than ever, and I'm absolutely loving this particular "suit of armour", although it's a shame the pants are pulling apart at the seams. They're such a magnificent pair!
Sending hugs and the best of vibes! xxx
Send you and Vizzini lots of love!
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry. I curse that vile cat stealer, Kidney Disease. It is so hateful and one feels so helpless; but having watched him grow up and knowing the ups and downs you have been through with him, we here in the blogosphere know you have always done the best possible thing. It is really hard that our furry children don’t last as long as we do. Mr. Vizzini is always such a joy to behold (except when he’s eating your shoes- but even then I’m sure he is cute and earnest in spite of himself). What a delightful fellow he is. It is great to see the mutual love you all have. Board game nights for all! Such a cool family. I am thinking very good thoughts for him. (I had a tuxedo boy whom I raised from a baby- I adopted both he and his mom; he lived to be 20 years old. I miss him (and his mom) every day. Hoping for the best outcome for all involved. ((((Warm vibes for you all))))

I'm so sorry to hear about Vizzini's breathing getting harder. It must be so hard for you , especially considering that you might have to make a difficult decision soon. Time has no mercy for any of us, but saying goodbye to a pet is especially hard. He's always such a joy to behold and read about. Even tired and all, he is still there photobombing your outfit photos and being himself, it make my eyes water. Look at that look in the camera, as if he is really saying thank you to all of his fans. Give him a kiss in all of our name, he's a very popular cat here in blogland, well loved by many!
ReplyDeleteI really like the colours in this look (black, white and red) and the proportions. The bw top with the red pants- it works fabulously. BW shoes fabulous. The BW coat-fabulous.
Sending you best wishes from Australia. We farewelled our girl on NYE; it is such a tough thing. We love them and they leave such a hole in our lives and hearts. My ex was a vet and he always says the only thing they ask of us is that we do the right thing when we need to.
ReplyDeleteYou look sensational today, your clothes armor is inspiring.
Wishing ease and lots of snuggles to his lordship Vizzini. Love comes in such fragile containers.
ReplyDeleteHi Sheila, longtime reader but rare commenter. But as a cat lover whose own beloved Max had kidney disease, I have to comment today. Vizzini is a wonderful cat, full of fun and spirit. And you have given him a lovely, love-full life. We always remember how much they enrich our lives too. Eve in Ireland
ReplyDeleteI’m sending you hugs and positive vibes for Vizzini, you, and L. Our furry families come into our lives and create this beautiful space, extending us love, cuddles, and a few nips (at least mine did). Then, they leave way before we’re ready. I hope you have more days of cuddles and comfort. I’ll be thinking of all of you…
