Reverse It - Pink Woolly, Grey Tweed and Pointy Pony

In a stunning turn of events, I'm wearing the reverse of what I wore yesterday!
This is how I wanted to re-style this "slashed" sweater after being unhappy with it on my first wearing.

  • Shirt - Eddie Bauer, consignment; last worn here in January for New Year's Eve
  • Sweater - MO & Co., thrifted; first worn here in January with leopard and black velvet
  • Wool trousers - PartTwo, thrifted; last seen here in December 2024 with pink bookends
  • Booties - Matisse, thrifted; first worn here in December 2024 with stripes
  • Cashmere/wool coat (below) - Sarmite Wearable Art, consignment; last seen here in January

I gave it good brushing with Mom's old vintage 1970s lint brush (yes, I still have it!) and that took most of the little pink woolly "worms" off. It didn't make any new pills or balls on this outing, so perhaps we've resolved that?
I layered my plain white shirt underneath, letting the bits of white peek out at cuffs, hem, shoulder and collar. I've turned on my "look for a white shirt" radar, as the pits on this shirt are getting dark and stained.

It's a YES, overall. I like this layering.
On the bottom we have the elastic waisted, pocketed, lined, wool tweed trousers.

That's a lot of adjectives.
They were fine with this heel in the office - I was careful on the stairs. Danger Pants! (Remember these??).

Outerwear. It was only -1 this morning, practically a heat-wave!
It was even warmer on the walk home.

Incognito. I have to admit, I welcome the return of Incognito Season.
I like watching people.

Accoutrements:
Warm and snuggly.

  • Toque - gift from Tammy
  • Brooch - Monet, vintage 80s, thrifted
  • Fur scarf - thrifted
  • Leather gloves - Roeckl, consignment

The stuff:
I liked these pointy boots with the wide-legged pants. I stroked the pony-hair a few times.

Alien bling:
"I'm looking at you!"

I liked how this necklace added a "messy" element to the outfit.

  • Necklace - All Saints, gift from Dominique
  • Crystal/silver ring - Uffizi Gallery gift shop, Florence
  • Silver/crystal ring - Soul Flower
  • Earrings - thrifted

  1. I'm glad to read there were no more worms, as it would have been a shame to send that gorgeous jumper to Limbo! I love the layering going on here and the fact that the outfit is a reverse of yesterday's. Oh and those booties are fabulous too! xxx P.S. We had 2°C today, so quite sweltering :-) xxx

    1. It was a pleasant surprise, Ann, and makes me think that sweater was never worn when I bought it. I was really happy with the layering here, and am inclined to do this forever, ha ha. 2 degrees, practically tropical! :D

  2. I have a lint brush also!!!! When it is needed it is a very handy tool to have around! Am glad the pink top behaved as it is visually interesting and like a clothing game of hide-and-seek. Am in agreement with Polyester Princess regarding the layering - it’s perfect and the white shirt helps the pink and it’s unusual elements truly pop. The booties are eye catching though you might not be surprised that I can barely imagine walking in them. ;-) Pink and grey one day, grey and pink the next. :-) And yay for matching glasses!
    Cheers, Laurie

    1. I think mine/Mom's is from the 70s! It's plastic and you can reverse the head of it.
It did behave, and I was very happy with how it worked this time. The boots are very comfy - wedge heels are easy on the feet. Yay for matching glasses!

    1. I think it's from the early 00s, Vix, and yes, not like their current stuff at all!

  6. I like the styling a lot as well. The vintage pink sweater looks great layered under a white shirt and paired with those palazzo grey trousers. Beautiful statement necklace as well! The coat with the pink details is a great way to wrap this look.

    1. Thank you! I don't think the sweater is vintage - it's a modern label.

  8. Hello friend from days gone by! I was watching the SNL 50th anniversary show (on a Sunday which feels wrong) and Paul McCartney was on. It reminded me of Wendy Brandes so I looked her up and then saw you commenting on a blog post of hers so I had to check in to see how you’re doing! It’s been almost a decade since I stopped blogging but it made me happy and nostalgic for those times. Hope you are as well as you look!

    1. CARA! So lovely to see you - it's been a very long time!! Yes, I still comment whenever Wendy posts, but she's pretty silent these days. As you can see...I kept on blogging! I'm on Substack, and you're welcome to subscribe to me there (link at the top of this page, on the right - go to Web View Version if on your phone to find it).
