Painty Blobs and Bookended Pastels

More playing time in my closest has resulted in some fun outfit combos, like this classy look.
Perfect for a day full of managers wandering all over the office. I also gave a tour to a new coworker, Sarah.

  • Jacket - Vivienne Westwood Anglomania, consignment; last worn here in September 2022 over a grey Kenzo dress
  • Sweater - Banana Republic, thrifted; last seen here a couple of weeks ago with a rainbow
  • Skirt - Soaked in Luxury; purchased here for $23.99
  • Shoes - Big Presence Earhart, Fluevog; last worn here in August 2022 with a digital iris dress (and the same necklace)
  • Leather trenchcoat (below) - vintage 70s, thrifted; last seen here in March

I built the outfit around this new pleated faux wrap skirt, obviously.
What's the pattern? Nothing in particular - just painty blobs of colour.

I liked the dark grey blazer with it - this awesome piece is by the late great Vivienne Westwood.
They should call that colour Grand Dame Grey.

Good colours in the skirt.
Pale pink, black, grey, chartreuse, mustard, yellow and many shades of orange.

Opening up the faux wrap to expose...
...the built-in slip. Even in the wind, the skirt didn't open up.

Without the jacket, although I never took it off.
But it's nice to know I could.

Outerwear - it was rainy, sunny, (very) windy and cold.
Just right for my leather trenchcoat!

Accoutrements:
This hat stays firmly on my head.

  • Scarf - Pierre Balmain, vintage, thrifted
  • Hat - Club Monaco, thrifted
  • Gloves - Parkhurst

The stuff:
I was saddened to see that an orange line transferred onto the toe of one shoe, likely from them being squashed together when stored. There's also a tiny crack in the patent leather. Dang, why don't things stay pristine forever? I've had them since late 2017 and this is their 21st wearing.

Orange bling:
I totally bookended my outfit with this necklace - it matches the shoes so perfectly (which is why I bought it). I don't mind pastels when they are this groovy.

  • Necklace - J. Crew, consignment
  • Orange bangle - consignment, Sidney
  • Orange/steel ring - Calvin Klein, thrifted
  • Orange cuff/ring - Italian, vintage 60s, vintage mall
  • Earrings - thrifted

    1. They really are, Lise - when I saw that necklace, I knew I had to have it to match the shoes.

  2. I love your shoes, Shiela! Such beautiful colours! I know, I wish shoes stayed pristine too. My boots are always getting scuff marks. X

    1. Thanks, Jess! Me too - I can live with most scuffs, but when my Fluevogs start to wear out, I get very sad.

    1. PS And three cheers for the built-in slip. I’d like all skirts and dresses to come that way.

  4. Fabulous colours, Sheila! I do love a splash of orange.
I'm such a clumsy oaf, I'm forever scuffing my footwear, it's probably just as well that most of it's secondhand! xxx

    1. Me too, Vix - orange is such a cheery colour. Ha, I am also a scuff-monster. But I'm always sad when the Fluevogs start to wear down.

  5. That pleated faux-wrap skirt is a stunner, and I'm loving the splashes of orange, as well as the classy grey jacket worn with it. Yay for the built-in slip!
What a shame about the shoes! Like Vix, I'm always scuffing my footwear, and it's even worse when I'm at the office, as I can't sit still and keep kicking inadvertently against the back of my desk when I'm sat in my chair. I can never keep my shoes looking pristine for long. xxx

    1. Thanks so much, Ann! I know, I damage my pointy toes on the floor under my desk, by hooking my feet around the bottom of my office chair as well, AND the heels on my chair. It's a wonder that these shoes are in as good a condition as they are!

  6. Love those shoes with that gorgeous skirt! Such a polished outfit...I wonder if Fluevog can give you any advice on removal ideas for that small orange mark?

  7. I love the colours all together in this outfit - you are such a pro at mixing colours and just dressing so cheerfully! I love seeing what you have to wear each day, and I've been trying to be a little more adventurous with my colour choices this year and trying different things.
Such a shame about the shoes - I find patent leather so hard to care for! I guess you couldn't try the cover up the scuff with a marker trick as it wouldn't have that shine :(
