Peasant Florals

As predicted, we have haze again from the forest fires in the interior of the province. The sky is solid grey, like a slab of concrete. You can't tell where the sun is, the birds are creepily quiet, and there's no wind. It's hot and the air feels like powder.
All that to explain why the colour and lighting is all wonky in my pictures today. Sorry! I blame wildfires.

  • Blouse - H&M, thrifted; last seen here in August with so much awesome, and a circle skirt
  • Skirt - Ranna Gill, thrifted; purchased here for $22.95
  • Shoes - Asos, consignment; last worn here in August with a sunshine dress

My first 2 pictures came out blurry, so I had to change my camera settings. Gah, no time! I'm in a hurry in the mornings.

I'm the first to admit that this peasant blouse is too long when worn untucked, but the skirt is a little bit big in the waist, and I needed to cover that. It was good enough for a stoopid-busy day, including nearly 2 hours of overtime.
A very happy "love it!" verdict on this skirt from me. I like how it dips up at the sides - it gives it very nice swoosh when walking around. Swoosh Factor 8, I'd say!
I will try to wear this skirt again before it gets packed away for fall in a few weeks. That's how it goes! Some things only get worn a time or two before the season's over. I'll have forgotten all about it when I unpack it at the end of March - it'll be a nice surprise!

The stuff:
Again, weird dark light at 6:45pm. I love these shoes - they are probably my most worn non-weekend shoe of this past 6 months. A good purchase. I like that they read as both pink and peach, depending on what you wear with them.

Glittery bling:
Trying to distract myself with sparkle. Didn't really work, but I was reminded how much I like these earrings.

  • Bracelet - Lia Sophia, thrifted
  • Earrings - vintage stall
  • Ring - consignment

  2. Oh that is a beautiful skirt! I like it with that top too.

Hope you're safe from the bushfires! We had a really warm day earlier in the week and when the boys woke up from their nap we ventured outside for a walk - lots of smoke smell and a thick haze in the sky, but that and the warm temperatures just makes me think of summer. Might have been back burning in preparation for a predicted to be devastating bushfire season when summer does arrive in a few months.

    1. Thank you, Mica! No fires on our island, just the smoke from hundreds of miles away. The Aussie brushfires seem so scary!

The skirt looks lovely, it confirms what we know: you're a hell of a thrifter !

What a shame about the forest fires - I just can't imagine what that must be like..

  7. All the natural disasters that happened lately just make me feel so blessed to live in a part of the country that doesn't have forest fires, hurricanes, or earthquakes. I'm glad you aren't close to the fire path.

    1. I know, we are so lucky not to be directly affected. The beauty of the place makes up for the risk, I guess??

  8. Loving this gypsy-style outfit Sheila. The skirt looks so pretty and if it's got the swish factor, then it's a winner with me too. I like the pastel shade of shoes toning with all of the pastel colours of the skirt.
