Orange and Houndstooth, and Ubiquitous Shoes

Summer may be here - I'm crossing my fingers! I had to make some adjustments to my outfit today (a lighter top, change of shoes) to accommodate the warmer temps outside.
I forgot to steam the blouse, so it was a bit wrinkly today, but otherwise, I really liked this simple outfit.

  • Blouse - Max Studio, thrifted; last worn here in August 2016 with camo pants
  • Pants - Topshop, thrifted; last seen here in April with a tropical top (need to wear that again)
  • Sandals - Ralph Lauren, thrifted; last worn here in April with velvet and a ballet skirt (also both need wearing again!)
  • Jacket (below) - Cache Contour Collection, thrifted; purchased here for $9.95

I had lots of compliments on the pants - there's something about houndstooth pattern that people really like.
I think I am nearly done with the blouse, though. It slips and slides around, and is a little too cleavage-tacular.

Even though I probably could have gone without, I wanted to wear this new-to-me jacket.
I'm happy to report that it billows behind me when I walk (I wore it unbuttoned). However, off to the coat closet until cooler weather. That could be next week, ha! You never know.

The stuff:
These shoes are so comfy, and they are "that shoe" that everyone has - I'm totally on trend, totally by accident! They are done at the end of the summer (if not before), though, as they are starting to separate from the soles, and the inside lining under my foot is peeling off. Sad!

Green sparkle bling:
One of our clients asked if I'd deliberately matched my jewelry to my green nail polish on my toes. Yup, sure did.

  • Necklace - J. Crew, thrifted
  • Earrings - Stella & Dot, consignment

  2. Yay summer !
You can never go wrong with houndstooth in my book. Too bad about the shirt, I was just about to complimet it. You can always wear it pinned with some cool brooch in the neckline..

    1. Gosh, fingers crossed! I like the shirt, but I don't love it - I don't think the fabric can take the weight of a brooch, but great idea!

  3. Hooray - no coat weather. I love the coat though and the outfit is spot on - cool and snazzy. Can't beat a bit of hounds tooth!

  4. I bought a pair of pants just like these when I was in a supermarket last time I was away and golly how comfy they are. I love the idea of a fancy patterned lining inside your jacket and may try to create this in my longline blazer... Thanks for the idea x

    1. They're such a great basic, aren't they? I love how they go with everything.

"Secret" linings are one of my favourite things. :)

  5. I love the orange and green together! :) It's a shame you aren't keeping the top as the wrinkles really don't show up in the photos - I always like pieces like that that you can get away with wearing without ironing!

    1. Thanks, Mica! It's not the wrinkles - it's the slipping and sliding of the top. I hate having to adjust pieces all day long. Too annoying...so - GONE.
