Multi-Colour Monday, Tall Tuesday and Worn-Out Wednesday

Another week, and only halfway through it. *sigh*

Monday: I adore this dress but it's more of a summery pattern, so I wanted to get another wear out of it before the cool weather sets in (and it's quite chilly at night now). I last wore it here (pictures of the Spanish ladies on it here and here).

I layered a blue cami underneath it, my green cardi (last seen here) over of it, added my new red belt and my bright Kraft Dinner yellow Tsubos. Bam!

Outside:
I was a little worried about the red belt and green cardi looking a bit too Christmassy, but what the heck. I like Christmas!

The stuff:
I had my white bird earrings on!

Cardigan (Kersh), dress (Lirub), shoes (Tsubos), belt (Le Chateau, consignment), cami (InWear), earrings (Lavichy).

On Tuesday, I foolishly decided to wear these very high heels:
After my walking escapades of the weekend, my dogs were howlin' after a full day of work and then a WW meeting! That's a 5" heel.

I felt very clever, however, by NOT wearing aqua and orange with them like I usually do. I know it sort of looks like it, but I wore teal (this cardigan) and red (the cami) instead!

The skirt is this silk burlap one that I got for $1.75. I'm on my third wear so that's down to less than 60 cents per wear. Ha!

The stuff:
Oh, dear shoes, sweet, sweet shoes. I got these in Carnaby Street in London in May 2010. It's almost time to put them away for the summer, too.

My jewelry helped tie it all together:
We've got the orange and aqua in there! L bought me this set for Christmas many moons ago.

Cardigan (Kersh), cami (Ricki's), skirt (Saks Fifth Avenue Collection, thrifted), shoes (Poetic Licence), jewelry (Lucky Brand, gift from L).

Today, I went back to flats to rest my poor feet:
This is a tried and true outfit - I have worn this top and sweater vest together at least three times before (proof? here, here, and here), and then I just put it with a neutral skirt (my high-waisted shiny one, last seen here, fourth outfit down).

Outside:
I am feeling very worn down this week - I am totally looking forward to the long weekend!

The stuff:
Those green shoes are extremely comfy. My feet were happy.

The bronze-y bits:
Vizzini made off with one of the earrings as soon as my back was turned. Little devil!

Blouse (Nicole Beniste for Point Zero), vest (Le Chateau, swap from Ruth), skirt (Bedo, thrifted), shoes (Circa Joan & David, thrifted), earrings (Plum), bracelet (Jacob).

Speaking of little devils, I like it when L takes pictures of them when he's home with the kitties during the day.
Vizzini is obviously up to no good. I'm sure he's plotting the downfall of the shower curtain, now that he's pulled the den curtain bracket out of the wall. He hates curtains.

Inigo, on the other hand, is an angel. Look at those eyes!
Aw!

Weekend Wear - A Jumpsuit!

No Ulty yesterday (not enough people could play), so L and I walked to town to meet up with our friends for lunch. I had a completely different outfit on, and then changed it at the last minute to this:
Good ol' tried and true. You can't go wrong wearing a dress - I last wore my lettuce dress here.

The original outfit was my green puffy skirt and a t-shirt (almost this same outfit), but I was just not liking the skirt at all, so it is going into the consignment bag.

Dress (Taylor, consignment), shoes (Wild Diva, swap from Caro).

Last night, Caro and her husband threw a 100th birthday party for their house. I have been saving this outfit for this occasion: Disco Diva!

I got the jumpsuit at my favourite consignment store last weekend for $22, along with the belt ($10) and earrings ($7). I had credit so I didn't actually pay anything. I was leery at first of the jumpsuit as I used to have one in the 80s (click here if you dare, to see me in it - that's my dad, and I'm about 21 years old there, circa 1988).

However, I really liked how this one fit: nice drapey fabric (that didn't wrinkle), neutral colour and not too bulky. I was pretty challenged taking these pictures, though - I'm just not used to wearing flowy pants!

The back: The elastic at the waist was set a little high, so this was a tad crotch-tacular all night, and needed frequent adjusting.

Outside:I dyed my hair last night as well. I love the red shoes and belt with this!

The stuff: The belt is Le Chateau, and based on the fact that it's leather (most of their belts aren't these days) and the design of the buckle, I'd say this is a late 80s/early 90s belt. I like that it's slightly curved so that it sits well on the waist.

These shoes were very comfy to wear all night...except for when we tried walking home 3 km from the party around 1:30 am. Bad idea. My feet are just killing me today. I recall that I walked barefoot for at least 1 km. The sidewalks hurt, but the grass was cool and wet.

A better shot of the accessories: Annie gave me the cuff for free! I love the coppery colour and that the skull has red jewel accents. People commented on the feather earrings all night - they felt like soft little kitten paws on my neck.

I got a lot of compliments on the outfit at the party. My gal Vero said that this was her very favourite party outfit I've ever worn! Wow! Thanks, hon!

Hope you had a great weekend!

Jumpsuit (Linea Domina, consignment), belt (vintage Le Chateau, consignment), cuff/earrings (consignment), shoes (Locale).

A Yellow Theme and Cats

Happy weekend, everyone! I hope yours is sunshine-y and bright.

First, two suck-monsters:
I think they only cuddle when we're not looking, but L managed to catch them (I found this pic on the camera when I uploaded my outfit shots).

Yesterday, I just felt like being bright:
REALLY bright! I love this dress so much - I first wore it here. I liked it with the gold shoes and my mom's old gold chain belt.

The stuff was attacked (again):
Rar! He's giant!

Dress (Calvin Klein), shoes (Aldo, consignment), belt (vintage 60s, Mom's).

Vizzini discovered that water comes out of taps this week:
And kitty likes the cool porcelain of the sink. He was so funny, I had to take his picture.

Unfortunately, I was totally rushed this morning and forgot to do my outfit shots, so here I am (complete with fist-pump), happy that my Friday is over!
Yes!

I went ultra-casual today, which is quite rare for me (for work, anyway). I just didn't want to wear heels, and so I kept it really simple. I last wore this shirt here.

Shirt (Ralph Lauren, thrifted), jeans (Seven7, swap from Caro), shoes (Wild Diva, swap from Caro), earrings (Plum).

Chairs, Brights and Neutrals aka Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday

Well, let's dive right in, shall we? I have a plethora of new thrift and consignment items (most of which are for cooler weather), so I'll be mixing in a bunch of my new-to-me stuff with my old new-to-me stuff this week!

I took in a couple of bags of my closet weedings and got $125 credit to spend at my fave consignment store - awesome!

First up: Monday! I have had my eye out for a red cardigan since I got rid of this one back in 2009 - they are hard to find! This one was $16. It has no label, but the colour is nice, it has no pills and it feels like a good nylon blend. Perfect! I know it will get a lot of wear.

The black top underneath is also new-to-me ($12). It has all the fabric gathered right at the bottom of the V-neckline and is very flattering. It's a little nicer than a plain black cami.

I put it with my grey chair skirt:
I last wore it here, in a similar colour-mix outfit. The red buttons on the chair skirt's pockets kind of limit what I can wear with it, though, and I didn't want to go all black.

The stuff:
Comfy Tsubos!

My cross necklace that L bought me many years ago:
I almost never wear it. I'm not religious, and I'm always worried I will offend someone by wearing a Christian symbol.

Cardigan (no label, consignment), top (Merona, consignment), skirt (Mia Hansen, thrifted), shoes (Tsubo), necklace (JS, gift from L).

In the package that I received from Megan last week, she generously included a pair of earrings. I built my Tuesday outfit around them. Put on your sunglasses, it's bright!
I had a LOT of comments on this from my co-workers, including one fellow who wanted to know why I dress up like I do for work, always in bright colours, always quite dressy. It was nice to be able to explain that, a) I work hard to keep my weight level, and I'm proud of how my body looks, so I like to show it in my clothes, b) it shows self-respect and confidence in who I am, and c) I'm artistic and this is how I like to express myself. He was genuinely interested, which was really a change from most people who just look away or go, "Whoa!"

I loved the mix of citrus-y orange and yellow together - and I think the emerald green helped ground it. I last wore this cardigan here, the silk blouse here and this is the same skirt I sent Megan.

Outside:
Look! Earrings!

The stuff:
Not too many more wears out of these shoes - September is just around the corner and that means rainy season on the West coast (it actually poured on Monday - I got soaked on the walk home).

I actually like to pack away my summery shoes. It makes them last longer and it's always so fun to pull them out again every Spring. I'm starting to look forward to wearing my boots again - you know I have a big collection!

Last, but certainly not least, these are the earrings Megan sent:
The inspiration that started it all! Thank you, hon!

Cardigan (Press), blouse (Jacob, consignment), skirt (BB Dakota, consignment), shoes (Portia), earrings (swap from Megan).

Today, I wanted to wear some neutrals after all that brightness:
Vizzini's looking at me - isn't he getting big? He kept jumping up and attacking the buttons on the dress (last worn here).

I also was thinking of these shoes, and how I wanted to get another wear out of them before summer is over (I first wore them here, third outfit, scroll down).

Outside shot:
It's a little hard to see in the pictures, but I twisted two skinny belts (a turquoise and a brown) together and wore them both at once. I felt very clever.

The stuff:
*ahem* Let's try that again with less cat (he took off with the necklace).

The stuff!
These shoes are super comfy. I liked the pops of red with the turquoise - one of my favourite colour combos!

Dress (Reitman's, consignment), turquoise belt (Nygard), brown belt, necklace and bracelet (Plum), shoes (Farylrobin, consignment).

Thursday, Friday and Is it Sunday Already?

When I uploaded my pics from my camera just now, I was all confused. What the heck happened to Thursday's outfit? Then I realized I'd already saved them on the computer. D'oh! I must be getting old.

I had to wear the amazing skirt that Megan sent me, so I built an outfit around it for Thursday: Isn't the pattern on the skirt cool? It's a very groovy tie-dye look - and the skirt is cotton, so it goes with the very laid-back West coast vibe goin' on over here. I kept the rest of the items very simple - the thin black sweater and some grey accessories - to showcase the skirt.

Outside:
Good thing I still have purple toenails!

The stuff:
These shoes are on their last summer, I think (they don't work in winter). One more year, maybe! I love that pebbled texture on the belt - it sort of goes with the tie-dye.

I strung a purple and red brooch on a silver cord to make a necklace.

Sweater (Jacob, consignment), skirt (Mix Nouveau, swap from Megan), belt (Shi Studio), earrings (vintage), pin (gift from L).

Friday was a bounteous day! When I got home from work, there was this lovely card and fabulous heart pin from Steph of The Dashing Eccentric:She wrote a very sweet note inside and said she thought of my stripey jacket (this one, I think) when she spotted this little fancy. I love that it's wrapped in a piece of fabric and tied with ribbon. Thank you so much, Steph!

Friday's outfit was a bit lazy on my part:
It's basically a repeat of this outfit with different shoes. I figured what the heck. No one I saw all day even knows I wore this before.

The floofy underskirt is always fun:
I think my coworkers are finally getting used to how I do Casual Friday. Heh.

Dress (Ricki's), skirt (no label, consignment), shoes (Indigo by Clark's), obi (Smoking Lily, consignment), necklace (Foxy).

I had a half-assed outfit on for Saturday and did some thrift store shopping. However, it was really hot out and I was slathered in sunblock and sweaty from playing Ultimate for 2 1/2 hours in the sun, and by the time I got home, I just felt gross. So, no picture. I wore my Smoking Lily dress with my mustard cami (same as here) with these shoes. Not that exciting.

Today, I took a couple of bags of things down to my favourite consignment store for Annie to go through. I got a $125 credit (and I still had $10 left from last time), and bought a bunch of new things for "free"!

This is what I wore:
My top that I last wore with the same belt (here, scroll down), my fringed sandals, and this is a new denim pencil skirt that I found for $6.50 at a thrift store yesterday. Huzzah! I finally found a denim pencil skirt that I love!

The funny thing about it, though...I used to own this EXACT same one. This is the last time I wore it - I ended up consigning it or giving it away, can't recall which. Looking back at the other times I wore it, I used to complain about it riding up, so I think this new one must be a size bigger (it does look looser on me - I know my weight hasn't changed).

Buh-bye, old denim pencil skirt with your ugly slash pockets! You've been replaced!

Top (Jana, thrifted), skirt (Smart Set, thrifted), shoes (Kenneth Cole Reaction, consignment), belt (consignment), purse (Hype, thrifted).

Monday to Wednesday: Skulls, Neutrals (with cats) and a Party Dress for Work

Although it's been a warm week, it remains freezing in my office. I am going to need to start looking for more cardigans when I'm out on my thrift adventures.

Speaking of cardigans (oh, such a smooth segue!), I wore my skull cardi on Monday:
I felt this was a much more successful outfit than when I last wore it in April. The grey of the skulls is sort of a browny-neutral-y grey, and when I held it up to this khaki skirt, I liked how they went together. I last wore this skirt in July here (scroll down), and it's one of my wardrobe basics.

I like the pops of red (there's a skull in the centre of the back of the cardi that has a red bow - picture here) in the shoes and belt:
I adore these shoes (last seen here), and they are so comfy!

The stuff:
Mmmmm...red suede platforms...

The earrings:
I like the wood. Vizzini enjoyed attacking them so I didn't have them on for long at home!

Knowing I was going to be wearing red shoes with a purple cardi, I had to do my toes to match:
Cardigan (Kersh), skirt (Club Monaco, consignment), belt and earrings (Plum), shoes (Locale).

I built the Tuesday outfit around the cardigan. I've only worn it once (here) and I wanted to try out a different look this time.
Hee, Vizzini is hungry! Inigo is also stalking me in the background. I realized Vizzini was there just as the timer went off on the camera.

It's a bit hard to see the colours, but the skirt is a slate grey and the sweater under the cardi is taupe. I liked the mix of neutrals.

Outside:
My WW group liked this outfit, especially that I'd matched my shoes (snakeskin print) to the top and the belt.

The stuff:
The only bit of non-neutral (I count the khaki/olive as a neutral) are the bits of orange crystal in the jewelry. Vizzini attacket the belt and kept trying to chew the buttons on the cardi.

I love this bracelet:
It's so pretty. Worth the $10.

Cardigan (Kensie, consignment), top (Ellen Tracy, swap from Caro), skirt and earrings (Plum), shoes (Naturalizer), belt (Gap), bracelet (consignment).

Today, I just felt like wearing something easy. I was audited on some of the functions of my job (it went most excellently, thank you), so I wanted to look professional and pulled-together:
Of course, fab shoes always do the trick! This is my navy cardigan that I first wore here. The last time I cleaned out my closet, I got rid of a couple of my skirts with navy in them, so now I am on the lookout for more. Funny how that happens.

The "skirt" I'm wearing is not actually a skirt:
Bwah! It's a dress! Boob shot!

I've had this dress for a few years and have styled it for work several times. For a wardrobe challenge last year, I layered a top and belt over it, wore a blouse under it; with the same shoes as above and a blue jacket; for Boot vs. Dress Week in 2009; to the theatre with Mom; and the very first time for my birthday in 2008, which is the only time I've ever worn it completely on its own. I love getting a lot of wear out of a dressy dress!

Outside:
I went with all pearls, to bring out the cream bits in the shoes.

I didn't realize this picture was blurry until I uploaded it:
I am not going to haul out my clothes and redo it, sorry. Aren't those the most amazing shoes? Here are some better pictures, from last time I wore them.

This was my Grandma J's necklace:
I think it's probably from the 80s - which I don't consider vintage (yet).

Cardigan (Mango Suit, thrifted), dress (Maggie London), shoes (Poetic License), necklace (Grandma J).

I got a package in the mail today! So exciting! Megan, you are such a dear to send me things! I am so privileged to get an ORIGINAL Megan Mae drawing of myself! Check it out!
You can see a bit of the other stuff she sent (which I will be showing off soon). This is the outfit she drew of me. I look waaaay better in the drawing! Thank you, Megan!
