Nineties Vintage and More Snow

Brr! It stopped snowing today, but we have nearly 12 inches of snow on the ground. By afternoon, it was starting to melt away in big slushy puddles. Good! I am done with this winter business!
I'm going through my warmest items in my closet right now - like this fabulous vintage 90s wool slip dress.

  • Sweater - Judith & Charles, consignment; last seen here in December 2018 with a beautiful embroidered coat
  • Dress - Dolce & Gabbana, vintage 90s, thrifted; last worn here (2nd outfit) in December 2018 for our last time at Floyd's
  • Shoes - Room 502 Entrance, Fluevog; last seen here in December 2018 for Christmas at Mom's
  • Coat (below) - Apparence, vintage, thrifted; last worn here a week ago

A sleeping bag ginormous sweater over this would have been welcome, but I stayed klassy. A simple cream wool sweater under it, just like Jennifer Aniston wore on "Friends." I was having a major 90s flashback all day.
Out office was dead today - barely 40 people made it in - so made up cubicle signs for the stalwart few that said, "Snow Day? No Way! I made it to work on Feb 12, 2019." My colleagues loved them and posted them on their cubicles.

Of course, lots of people HAD to stay home; the schools were closed/people live on hills/people live in remote areas, I get that. One of the "bonuses" of living close to my work is that I never get a snow day. There's no excuse for me, ha!
Anyway, no one around to admire my outfit, and that was fine too.

Outerwear - the Unsafe Polar Bear was introduced to two of my 20+ years younger coworkers who had invited me out for a walk around the block in the snow.
They were amazed, as one is when first meeting the Polar Bear.

  • Fur head wrap - thrifted
  • Fur boa - Danier Leather, thrifted
  • Gloves - Danier Leather

The stuff:
I would never subject my lovely shoes to this weather - I changed into my Doc Martens whenever I went outside.

Sparkly bling:
 All my favourite colours.

  • Necklace - thrifted
  • Earrings - thrifted
  • Crystal ring - Uffizi Gallery gift shop, Florence, Italy
  • Gold/amethyst ring - Frances Jewelers, c. 1965, Dad's

A few last pictures of the snow!
View of the trees, cars and parking lot. Very exciting.

The Castle, all snowed up.
Hopefully it won't get too cold tonight or all that slush will freeze and be very dangerous. Send me warm vibes!

  2. It is such a Jennifer Aniston /90s look, but yours is much more fun with the colourful printed tights! I hope that the snow all melts away by tomorrow for you. Send it our way, we are waiting for a break in the heatwave here! Flooding up north, bushfires down south and we are safe but a little over the heat in the middle!

  4. How much snow? Gah! I don't envy you that at all.
The polar bear looks magnificent, no grey puffa jackets for you despite the challenging weather.
I love that you made signs for the workers who made it in! xxx

    1. Way too fricking much, Vix! So happy to see you back! Well, I do have a poo-brown puffer, but I don't like it. My coworkers LOVED the signs!

  5. Over winter as well!!!! Yep yep the 90s D&G!!! 90s did minimalism very well. Love it. I love that you live in a walking friendly neighborhood. That's a huge bonus in my book.

    1. Yup, it can end right NOW. I loved some of the 90s looks, so I'm always happy to find good quality pieces from that era. I could not live in an area where I couldn't walk everywhere.

  6. Oh wow - a wool slip dress from D&G seems like a dream. Like someone else commented above, this is so very Jen Anniston in Friends! In fact just a few weeks ago I almost purchased a tee+dress combo that was similar but cotton.
The idea of the signs is so cool! There are too few of us in the office for anything like that.

    1. I was pretty excited when I found it - it's even made in Italy, unlike modern D&G. Oh, yes, I loved those tee-dress combos! They felt weird to me at first, but now they are so de rigeur!

We have over 200 people here, so it was very noticeable that so many were absent.

  7. Extra warm vibes on their way from Belgium where we had a sunny, almost Springlike day. Love your Jennifer Aniston outfit, that's totally something she would wear. And wow, those tights, shoes and necklace! Had to smile at your cubicle signs. I didn't need snow to stay at home today: there wasn't any public transport due to a strike! Still waiting for the right moment to introduce my one and only colleague to the grape ape ... xxx

    1. Thank you, Ann! That's what we should be having! I had to add my own zing, as you note. Enjoy your day off! Ooh, wear that Grape Ape!

  8. So sorry about the snow, I feel you. Winter be gone!
However I do very much like the vintage wool dress, especially with the classic cream sweater. Friends has nothing on you! Move over Jennifer!
The tights are such as an eye popping update. You always choose an assessory that makes your outfit spectacular.

    1. Yes, Elle, it is time for it to be over! Thank you - it was nicely warm without being too hot or too cold. I had to add my own "Sheila" touch in the tights/shoes.

  10. We had Tuesday off work as the University closed because of adverse weather conditions. I love that dress on you - it hugs your curves beautifully and looks very "beatnik cool" layered over a short sleeve sweater.
