Return of the Bigass Gaga Shoulders

This is it! I am on staycation! My work had better not call me or I will be extremely unimpressed (they have called me before).
Ignore the white content tag poking out of my jacket, s'il vous plais!
I did quite a bit of impressing at work with these ginormous Gaga-esque shoulders, though! Comin' through, move aside!

  • Jacket - H&M Garden Collection, consignment; last worn here (2nd outfit) in April 2016 for theatre with Mom
  • Sweater - INC, consignment; last seen here last week in May with poppies and orange
  • Skirt - no label, handmade, thrifted; last worn here in June 2016 with dark florals
  • Shoes - Modern Vintage, thrifted; last seen here in April with harem pants

They are rather ginormous. The stuffing in them is netting, all fanned out under the fabric, which is made from recycled plastic bottles, which is then sewn into rose shapes all over the jacket (that's why it looks slightly furry).
I love this skirt, but it's starting to wear out. It's handwoven, and I love the metallic red of it, with the ribbons of gold and more shiny red on the bottom hem. So pretty.

The stuff:
Flats for comfort today. I had a lot of rushing around to make sure everything wouldn't fall apart over 3 days. It probably still will, but *shrug* that is not my problem!

Golden bling:
All vintage, including a piece of Grandma's!

  • Necklace - Lisner, vintage 60s, Grandma J's
  • Bracelet - Trifari, vintage 60s, vintage fair
  • Earrings - vintage, vintage fair

Enjoy the rest of your week, my friends! I will be back on Sunday to regale you with our adventures!

  1. My, what big shoulders you have, my dear!

  2. FYI regarding your golden earrings. I have some that look like that, only in the color fushia, and they are vintage Avon that I purchased off of Etsy. I think yours might be Avon too.

    1. Thanks for the tip, Gerrilyn! I don't think they are Avon, as they are very good about stamping their logo/name on everything they make. I think mine are older.

  4. Enjoy your well deserved time off! I hope that they do not call you and interrupt your fun! I was once signed off work for a while after losing my voice - they had the cheek to call me and ask me to fix a problem. I literally had no voice so had to scribble down responses to my sister (who answered my phone for me) to try and get it sorted. I was very unimpressed when I went back in, and after a few more incidents like that I quit. Anyway, rude manners aside, your outfit is lovely and I hope you have a great time!

  6. How lovely to be having a well deserved break - I do know how hard you work!

That jacket is the cat's pyjama's. In other words it's blooming fantastic. I bet you really wowed them at work in this get up!

    Have a lovely break x

  8. What an interesting jacket that is. Anyone who was around in the 1980s would be comfortable with ginormous shoulders! I love the idea of recycled roses all over the jacket, too.

The skirt is really lovely; I hope it doesn't wear out anytime soon.

    1. Yes, definitely, although the retro shoulders are a little much these days, even for me. Thank you! The fabric is starting to fray. Sad.

  9. From cowgirl boots a few posts back to power shoulders! Fabulous, Sheila. I rediscovered an 80's plaid trouser suit with the same shoulders, but it's going to Ebay to find a new set of shoulders (my waist isn't the same tiny as the trousers waist any more!!) Hope you're having a great weekend. xx

  10. Loving that statement sleeve! Gorgeous and fun to wear and really fun to watch you wear. I would do battle with you in a grocery store though. Love the recycled bit, very smart.
The good care of that skirt, it is a beauty, even if it is worn.
That Trifari bracelet is a beauty.
    enjoy some R&R.

  11. I remember seeing that jacket when H&M first came out with it, but even though I really liked it, there was no way I was paying full price for it, so congrats on finding one secondhand.
