Secondly, Mom-Day! I walked to town, stopping at Crust Bakery for some treats, then dashed to my bus.
We worked on the puzzle for a while, then had lunch (egg salad sandwich, my favourite), and worked on it some more. It was a lovely day, finished off with splitting one of the tarts (so good). Thanks so much for having me over, Mom! I love you!
I built the outfit around my beautiful blue/purple Welsh wool cape. I have loved these thick stretch cotton jeans, and am going to keep them out for fall/early spring.
I hung out at Mom's like this, with my shoes off.
- Merino wool sweater - Lord & Taylor, consignment; last worn here in January for a Mom-Day at home with the kittens
- Leather-fronted tee - Danier Leather, thrifted; last seen here in May with crinkly black and blue space
- Jeans - Everlane, thrifted; last worn here in September for a Mom-Day in a waistcoat
- Creeper shoes - Call It Spring, consignment; last seen here in September with my teal suit
- Wool cape - Coracle Clothes, Wales, vintage 60s, Sheila's; last worn here in October 2025
This was just right for layers - I have a nylon vintage cami on under the merino wool sweater too.
I like the peeks of blue. You might be able to spot the beetle brooch on the turtleneck in the Stair Picture. Caped up in this wonderful Welsh wool beauty. Unfortunately, somewhere on my journeys before I arrived at Mom's, my beautiful scarf slipped off my purse.
I took the same path home, but of course, it was gone. I hope its next owner loves it!

These are the last pictures of it.
Farewell, scarf! I bought it back here in April 2022 for $79.00 and I know I wore it a lot. I'm going to miss it!
The stuff:
Apparently, this lobster brooch is NOT from Bermuda! According to Mom, I bought it for her, but I do not recall this AT ALL - I would have kept it for myself! That's how much I like it! Plus, a lobster? and Mom doesn't even wear brooches.

- Leather purse - Danier Leather, thrifted
- Lobster brooch - Mom's!
Favourite bling:
I'd tucked my gloves in my purse. There they are!
- Cashmere-lined leather gloves - Danier Leather
- Multi-stone/silver bracelet - Salt Spring Island, gift from L, c. 1998?
- Carved jadeite bangle - consignment
- Silver/amethyst ring - vintage mall
- Gold/amethyst ring - Frances Jewellers, c. 1965, Dad's
- Beetle pin - Le Chateau, vintage 00s
- Earrings - vintage, c. 1997
- Celtic silver S - gift from Mom/Dad
- Amethyst crystal - gift from Mom/Dad
- Opal pendant - gift from Mom
I quickly checked on the boys before I left.
What have you spotted, Whateley? More birds in the trees? Yup, little chickadees feasting on the moss on the Garry Oaks.
They taunt Barnabas.

It was at this point that I realized my scarf was gone.
I went back to the bus stop, retracing my steps, but no such luck. Mom and a fudge walnut brownie. In retrospect, we should have split one instead of eating one apiece, but no regrets - it was delicious!
It did spoil our appetites for lunch, though! We got a good chunk of the puzzle done before we took a break.

Mom's got her egg salad and some cherry tomatoes and we have giant mugs of tea.
That is a devilishly hard puzzle! We didn't finish it, even after 3 hours!

I headed to the bus stop (scanning for my scarf!).
Hey, Cooper's Hawk, did you see it?
I consoled myself by checking out a pair of shoes I'd seen in the window of Botched Consignment on the way to town in the morning. I have been looking for a casual cobalt blue shoe for YEARS.
And they're Adidas! Hooray! These are called the Adidas Adiracer Lo, and the colour is "Power Blue." They're a reissue of a 2010s model, created for racecar drivers (UK GQ article here, link 'cause I love). They're new/unworn, and even had the stuffing in the toes still! They were $200...which is a lot, but I was just in a sports store last week, and RETAIL IS EXPENSIVE.
I love the narrow profile (I have very narrow feet), and the strong heel - for all that driving I don't do (I don't have a license).
I'm super-excited about these, and they do make me feel a little better about losing my scarf (but I will miss that for a long time!).
I must indulge in some Purr Therapy!
Get ready, boys, I'm going to grab you for some cuddles! That's it, folks, I'm signing off for the weekend now - but I'll be back on Sunday with Friday's office outfit, PLUS...the Fall/Winter Closet Swap-Over! I worked on the accessories portion on our Wednesday off, so Saturday will be devoted to the clothes and shoes. See you then!

Apologies accepted :-) I totally get it, as life has been full-on for me lately as well. I do miss blogging on a more regular basis :-(
ReplyDeleteIt's always a delight to see one of your Welsh wool treasures, which do make me slightly envious.
I'm sorry about your scarf's disappearing act, but the cobalt blue Adidas shoes definitely make up for it! xxx
I am looking forward to having more time to write both here and on Substack, once I'm down to 3 days a week in January.
DeleteThey are beautiful, I know! I need to wear my green/blue poncho before the weather turns.
Sigh, I am still feeling sad about that...but the shoes did help a lot!
Lovely to see that cape again, and so great inspiration to create an outfit around it!, love those shoes and the always fabulous accessorizing!. You rock it and it's lovely to see your Mom and you having a good time!
ReplyDeleteThose blue sneakers are particularly amazing, what a fab colour!
besos
It's always a treat to wear! Mom's seen it lots of times, but one more is always welcome. Thank you!
DeleteThe purples and the blues are so warming and fall-oriented and totally my cup of tea! Ah, I understand your sentiment related to the loss of the scarf…so interesting how we identify with certain pieces of clothing or accessories while others are no big deal. In the 46 (!) years since I blithely gave away a necklace I have thought about that act easily 6 times and each time it includes regret for having done given it away.
ReplyDeleteYou and your Mom look quite content and, oh yuh, having a fudge brownie and a puzzle accompanied by tea and a sandwich, what could be better for a fall afternoon with each other! ❤️š§© Cheers, Laurie
Yes, they aren't colours usually associated with fall, but blues and purples are both wins in my book. Still sad over the scarf, boo. I also have a few pieces like that - I've even mentioned to people that if they grow tired of it, I'd like it back!
DeleteIt was a great afternoon, although lesson learned: SHARE a brownie (they were massive!).
Cats, you and your Mum, some glorious nature shots and an Adidas find, what a post! Always good to see the Welsh Wool cape, too! x
ReplyDeleteCouldn't be a better day! Thanks, Vix!
