Black and White, With a Side of Mustard

It's been a very quiet weekend, with nothing much on the docket, aside from board games with L. I'm good with that. Quiet is nice.
We did meet up with Casey for lunch, so I got dressed! Huzzah!

  • Jacket - Sarah Pacini, consignment; first worn here in May with sequins
  • Dress - Trina Turk, consignment; last seen here in September 2019 for brunch
  • Shoes - Go Groovy Husymans, Fluevog; purchased here for $249.99

We're finally getting a stretch of sunny-ish days, but the temps are stuck in the high teens. Very un-July-like!

I have a collection of black and white dresses (this one also has a bit of tan in it) that are my brunch/Ulti dresses. Since it looks like Ulti is cancelled this year (welcome to 2020), I have to wear these just for brunch.

I like this one - it's a woven pattern, not printed.
 And it's got pockets!
I wore this linen blend mustard jacket for sun coverage; I loathe sunblock, and avoid it when I can by wearing physical block instead.

We had a lovely brunch, catching up with Casey, then wandering into town briefly.
Home again for the afternoon, a nap and reading in the sun.

I quite love this jacket - such a great colour.
I did zip it up once or twice, but I forgot to take a picture of it done up.

The stuff:
This is my first outing with these shoes, walking to Pluto's then into town. I did wear nylons to make sure I wouldn't have any rubbing on bare skin (and to keep the dress from feeling too short). The booties were awesome, very comfortable and easy to walk in. No foot pain at all.

Black and white bling:
Simple matchy items.

  • Cuff - vintage fair
  • Earrings - vintage 80s, vintage fair
  • Silver/onyx ring - Tocarra, vintage fair

And now, off to do some more reading in the sun! I hope you're all having a fabulous weekend!

  1. Looking good Sheila! The new shoes are stunning - glad they are comfortable also.

What's up with the weather? Another 2020 fail I think. You are stuck in the teens and we have been stuck under a heat bubble for two weeks now. Temps are in the high 30's day after day with no rain and lots of humidity so it feels like 40 something.

On the plus side we did venture out to a restaurant to enjoy a lunch on the patio with our son. It all felt pretty normal which surprised me and it was just so nice not to have to cook!

    1. Thanks, Nana! The boots were awesome for our short venture out into the wilds of town.

Oh gosh, I can't believe it's July - it still feels like April here! I do not envy your temps!

That sounds so nice! It does feel normal, not too different. It feels good to be able to do stuff like that, doesn't it?

We've got temperatures in the mid to high teens, high winds and rain to look forward to this week. Come back Summer! xxx

    1. Heck, yeah! We feel like we're back to our semi-normal re: brunches. The shoes were so awesome for our trek.

That sounds about the same for us, sigh. It still feels like early spring.

  4. That mustard jacket is so nice with the printed dress! :) It's good you are getting some nice summer weather! It heats up a bit in the day here but it's so windy and wintery still - definitely feeling the need to layer more!

    1. Thanks, Mica! I liked how it looked with it - it went well with the tan bits.

Oh, I wish it were warmer, though. This still feels like spring, not really hot at all. I like seeing you in your winter sweaters.

  6. We had a quiet weekend too, mostly governed by the weather, which seems to be going into a different direction than yours. The black and white dress with a bit of tan is gorgeous on you and your new Fluevogs are brilliant with it. I'm also swooning over that cuff! I've reverted to nylons too ... Going out for brunch sounds wonderful, especially when it involves catching up with friends. Haven't even been out for a coffee yet. I feel as if I have to learn to do things again! xxx

    1. It really still feels like spring here, not July! Thanks so much, Ann - I am adoring these Fluevogs already! Yes to nylons until we actually get some summer weather!

Going out feels good, but I'm still very nervous about busier places.

Hugs to you, my dear friend.

  8. Well we went out for dinner for the first time in months. With friends. On a large table where we could sit from a good distance. We really enjoyed it. I am wearing a lot of black and white lately where I never did. Love how you combined it with mustard!

    1. No, they have zippers on the inside! I only adjusted the buckles to get a perfect fit, then ZZZZIP!

  13. What a stylish, fantastic pair of boot. I adore how their open, breathable design helps to ensure what is often a chilly weather wardrobe staple is able to enjoy some sometime exposure as well.

    1. Woven fabric is always my preference, and a woven pattern is nearly always better than a printed one. Pockets are awesome!
