Mauve, Plum and Burgundy

I'm not generally a fan of mid-week stat holidays, but how cool that today is like a mini Friday? Then only two days and it's the weekend again!
I'm taking a page out of Gracey's book and doing a very plummy look today.

  • Leather top - no label, thrifted; purchased here for $9.00
  • Skirt - Lui Jo; last seen here in January with fruitals
  • Shoes - Queen Transcendent Escarpin, Fluevog; last worn here in January with chartreuse

This is another one of those not-as-flattering shape combinations (bulky top with full skirt), which I'm caring less and less about these days. Yes, I know what suits my body, but I like variation in colour, shape, texture and fabric. I liked the blousiness of the leather top (which felt wonderful) and then the full pleating of the skirt.
What is that cat doing?
Showing off my legs and feet help to balance all that fabric in the middle.

The stuff:
I truly adore these shoes and they felt awesome to work in all day. They did snag a bit on the lacy tights, but not too bad.

Floral bling:
All the colours in the fabric flower necklace!

  • Necklace - local, from She She Shoes
  • Cuff - thrifted

Did you know about mauve? This is a really interesting write up (linking 'cause I love) about the history of this very influential colour and aniline dyes.

  1. I'm waaay behind on your awesome outfits, Sheila. Grrr.
I love your plumminess. A leather top and piano-leg heels and wallpaper legs - fanastic, maybe not the way I describe it, but fantastic.

  4. Great colours. I would never have guessed that top was leather, it must be super-soft to drape like that. And I love those tights! xxx

  5. Hi Sheila, I love this mauve ensemble and am wowed by the amazing shoes. As a novice blogger, I'm just starting to make contact with this massive blogging community. Yours was one of the first I came across and your brave styling made me think that nothing is truly too much in the world of fashion blogging. You have such a wonderful shoe collection and your jewellery is pretty fab too. It's inspiring stuff.

  9. Yummy Plummy! I know what you mean about sometimes pairing things together that may not create the most flattering silhouette, but you love the pieces and the overall feel of the outfit. While I like to wear things that flatter my body, sometimes you just say "f**k it".

Love the rich fabrics, colours and details in this outfit!

  10. Ann, the tights are Look from London. They are not colour-fast - last time I washed them, they turned all my light colours pink! :(
