Covered Up - Please Send Summer

Due to the unseasonable weather, I've had to keep on wearing my long sleeved items. If this keeps up, I'm gonna have to break out the tights!

Yesterday, I layered my plaid dress over my red vintage slip:
I last wore the dress here (in September!), and the slip here.

I liked how the ruffle at the bottom of the slip made a nice border. I had a hair appointment last night after work, so I wore flats for getting around.

Dress (Vero Moda), slip (Suzette Lingerie, vintage, consignment), belt (Plum), shoes (Predictions, consignment).

Today, I did my usual twist on Casual Friday (i.e. a piece of denim with dressy items): I look half-asleep there, ha!

I absolutely adore this jean vest - the fit is so good. I last wore it here. That's my gauzy silk blouse (last seen here), and good golly, I love the cut of this skirt (last seen here). I had to do some walking today and I felt very wiggly in it (hee), particularly as I was striding along in these wedges (last seen here).

Someone wanted some lovin':As always, the beeping of the camera causes the cats to stare at it.

Vest (Part Two, consignment), blouse (Kaliko, consignment), skirt (Precis Petite, thrifted), shoes (Kenneth Cole Reaction, consignment).

Have a great weekend!

  1. Sheila, I love your idea of dress-over-vintage-slip. I always feel bad when my pretty slips go (mostly) unseen. Oh, that kitty, stealing hearts again.

  2. Despite loving downtown Vancouver, I have to concur - BC needs a lot more sun and heat! I saw so many girls rocking summer trends... with tights and cardigans!

  3. I love your layered slip. Such a cute look. Your new little guy is as much as a photobomber as Inigo is.

  7. I love your twist on 'casual' Fridays! I do that too. Just because it's casual, doesn't mean it can't be classy!

  8. To my surprise I'm wearing a cashmere turtleneck right now...I brought it to Europe for outdoor theater in London but didn't expect to be wearing it in Paris. It's always been hot when we've been here in the summer. Can't say I mind being out of the NYC heat though.

  9. We're still waiting for summer down here in SF too -- I guess I can't accuse the Vancouverites of stealing it. ;-)

I love the plaid dress layered over that slip. The yellow and brown print works really well with the rusty red.

  10. I feel so badly for you and the not-so-good weather. I wait so long for the nice weather and if it doesnt come---I'm ready to commit hari-kari.

  11. Patti, thank you - I like to show off the vintage underthings, especially when they are this fancy.

Cara, I hope it was better today! So sad that our west coast weather is sucking so badly!

Megan, thanks! Hee, yes, he is.

    Dimi, thank you!

    Ally, me too!

Jude, thanks - it's great for cooler weather. Aw, thank you!

Thanks so much, Nav! I visited your blog, but I wasn't able to comment (I have issues with Disqus).

Tamara, thank you - I totally agree!

Wendy, well, at least it's cashmere, darlin'!

Audi, isn't it pathetic? Where is our summer? Thank you - I'm just about ready to give up the plaid dress, so trying to get some more wear out of it.

Thanks, Paula! I know it will come eventually.
