Here's how I looked in the morning:
The weather is still stinkin' rotten (windy, cloudy, highs of maybe 20/70 degrees) - this totally doesn't feel like July! August had better be hot and sunny or there is going to be trouble!
Anyway, I had to wear a jacket or else freeze in the morning - this is my trusty cream tux jacket (last seen here). I forgot I had this blue top (my casual tops don't reside in my closet; they go in my dresser), and I haven't worn this skirt for a while. I think last time I wore it I wanted to do the blue shoes with it.
And this is me at 8pm when I got home from my evening WW meeting. Still holding it all together. I only wore the jacket when I went outside/on the bus, so this is actually what I looked like all day. I have a mustard cami under the blue top because that's a really low neckline.
I got a lot of random comments on this outfit: a lady on the bus told me she liked my skirt, another woman at a stoplight liked my shoes, and my WW group liked the whole outfit (I told them I had a blog, but not how to find it).
Jacket (Club Monaco, consignment), top (Oxmo), cami (InWear), skirt (Nygard), shoes (Feet First), necklace (vintage 80s, Grandma J's), earrings (Aldo Accessories).
Today, I went with yellow again - I figured that since it got sunny when I wore yellow on Monday, maybe I could cause it again, hee hee.
This outfit is a total mystery to me, as neither the cardigan nor the skirt have any tags (aside from the washing/fabric tags) to identify what brand they are. I last wore the skirt here, and the cardigan more recently here.

I liked all the greens in this outfit (L commented on them). Usually, I pick out the colours in the skirt for my accessories: the blues, the reds, the yellows, but this time, I just kept it fairly simple.
Except for this:
I picked that wrist wrap up in Club Monaco a couple of months ago and promptly forgot about it. It was regular $49 (it's real snakeskin), marked down to $9. That's more like it! It can be worn as a belt, but it's a little skinny for my taste.
Cardigan (no label, consignment), cami (Reitman's), skirt (no identifying label, thrifted), shoes (Circa Joan & David, thrifted), wrist wrap (Club Monaco).
Love that first skirt! And the top too. I can see why it got so much attention. I don't always tell people how to find my blog yet. I talk about it a bunch, but I don't give a url or anything.
ReplyDeleteI also like the greens of the second outfit. Those green kitten heels are the perfect summer shoe. I think the belt/cuff works better as a cuff. I'm a fan of belts with substance. (swoon for the snakeskin)
Hopefully some of this heat will spread over your way. I'm so tired of going "oh 100+ heat index? Plus humidity out the wazoo? No thanks!"
I like outfits like number 1 that wear well all day...and bring unsolicited compliments. Why not tell your group about the blog?
ReplyDeleteI knew I recognized you from somewhere and now it all makes sense! WW!
ReplyDeleteI really love how you wore a dark top with a light jacket - it is kind of like bending the "rules". We should do that more often as the results are unexpectedly chic!

I'd intended to go out thrifting today after work to look for a yellow cardigan, having not found one yesterday after work in regular retail stores and being sad you were getting rid of yours. Unfortunately, I accidentally napped away until it was time to meet a friend. Fortunately, you have this yellow cardigan! I love the stitch pattern! I wish you had the tags so I could track down one exactly like it!
ReplyDeleteYou always look fab - whatever time of day.
ReplyDeleteIt's cold and less than 16 degrees in the UK at the moment.
Too cold for summer.
I love those blue shoes, Sheila. And the little green flats too - so so cute. Hope it warms up for you so you can wear all your summer goodies!
ReplyDeleteLove that electric blue in the first ensemble and envy your ability to rock the yellow. I also like how you make the appliqued skirt funky, not frumpy.
ReplyDeleteCould we see the blue top in close-up?
I am totally admiring your cream tux jacket- I have a feeling I had not seen it before :)
ReplyDeleteHere it has been raining every single day. Non stop.
Which now makes me think that wearing white jeans today was not a good idea :(
I'm so jealous you can wear a jacket without bursting into flames... I'm in 100F+ land. Ugh!
ReplyDeleteBoth outfits, of course, are spectacular. Especially the blue skirt!
You rolled over! Congrats!!
ReplyDeleteAll solid wins! :)
ReplyDeletethis outfit is amazing! love it! and your first skirt is also wonderful
ReplyDeleteBTW, I’m your big fan – your style is really original and I read your blog very often and I just wonder..if we could follow each other.. But even if your answer is “no” I’ll be still your reader ♥

LOL at the foot-eating sun glare!
ReplyDeleteMegan, thanks! I am a little shy with sharing my blog as I do go on about my real life. If someone seems interested, I'll give them a card, though. Thanks - I love the snakeskin. It never gets that hot here, but in the 20s/80s would be nice!
ReplyDeleteTerri, I agree with that kind of outfit. Ah, I will give them the URL if they are interested!
Ad, are you a member? I don't recall seeing you, but speak up if you see me! Thank you so much!
Cara, sorry for not having the info on this cardi - I used to be one of those people who cut tags out of clothes.
Jane, thank you!
Patti, aren't they awesome? Thanks!
A-Dubs! Thank you! Hmmm...I will have to do a close-up next time I wear it.
Lorena, no, I've worn it quite a lot! I hope your rain is all gone!
'Doll, yup, even when it's hot here, I can still do a jacket. It's very rare for it to get really hot. Thank you, darlin'!
Thanks, Alyx!
Freeda, thank you!
Pralinka, thank you for reading!
Wendy, hee, I like that you always notice those things. :)
