Razzle Dazzle and Sunshine Boots

Welcome back, Gentle Readers. My heart goes out to our US neighbours...I'm so very sorry. I hope you find comfort in friends and family, and distraction in things like clothes and fashion. Thank you for being here. A big hug out to all of you, and not just my American friends, but those watching around the world. Hang in there.

I dressed for a few things. On the plus side, I had dinner after work with my dear friend and former Fairweather manager Tammy at The Wind Cries Mary (great name for a restaurant, right?).

I also needed the utmost comfort psychologically, so a Jammy Dress was definitely going to be needed. I chose this striped concoction so that I could wear my new yellow Fluevogs.
If there is no sunshine, I can at least wear it on my feet, right?

  • Dress - InWear; last seen here (2nd outfit) in November 2023
  • Boots - F-Trip Etta, Fluevog; purchased here for $249.00
  • Leather trenchcoat (below) - vintage 70s, thrifted; last worn here in October

Despite a tint of blue in the morning sky, there's no sunshine on the Castle.
But the warm light in the tower window reminds me that there is always hope. Keep the lights on!

I wanted and needed to not be seen - which seems contradictory when I'm wearing a dress this boldly striped.
Razzle Dazzled camouflage is what I'm deploying, described here (Wiki link 'cause I love) as:

complex patterns of geometric shapes in contrasting colours interrupting and intersecting each other.

It was used on battleships in WWI and a bit in WWII - the intent is not to conceal, but to confuse the eye and make the target harder to fire upon.
My trick here is that the eye goes straight to the pattern, not to the person.

Yeah, I'd rather just not face things right now.
I'll hide in my razzle dazzle, thank you.

Incognito.
Despite the grey outside, I'm defiantly sporting yellow. You can't steal my sunshine.

Voila!
I walked to work in my boots - again! - but caught a cab home after our lovely long dinner. The boots softened up nicely over the day, and are very comfy.

How I'm really feeling.
Here's an interesting fact - did you know that during WWII, Allied and Resistance women wore red lipstick to stand up against fascism and as a symbol of strength?  Link here to Snopes, which rates this as true. I'm on board for that, and I'll wear my rebellion and protest on my face, thank you very much.

Accoutrements:
My "Charlie Brown" scarf makes me happy. Zig-zag goes well with razzle dazzle.

  • Scarf - Pierre Cardin, vintage 70s, thrifted
  • Wool gloves - Parkhurst

The stuff:
My boots were hugely popular with the folks in my office. Everyone loves yellow.

Amber bling:
Oops, missed the earrings - they're my small square ones.

  • Amber/gold spider brooch - Russian, consignment
  • Nu-wite/glass bangle - R&G Co., vintage 1920s, vintage mall
  • Amber bracelet - consignment
  • Crystal ring - Uffizi Gallery gift shop
  • Amber/silver thumb ring - consignment
  • Silver/smoky topaz ring - Anneli Neuman, Sweden, vintage mall
  • Silver/amber ring - Past Times, 1996, gift from L
  • Silver/amber earrings - thrifted

Some of my amber "set" - it's as close to yellow as I have in my fall/winter jewelry.

And finally, here's a sweet picture of Vizzini, King of the Laundry Pile, to offer you comfort.
"All the purrs to you, my awesome fans."

The world moves on, life continues, and the only thing we can really control is ourselves. Hang in there, my friends. Sending all the good vibes.
