80s Primary Colours - One and Done

I'd been saving this dress for a day when I had an office full of people - little did I know I'd be on calls and dealing with the effects of a brief power outage for most of it. I barely talked to anyone!
17-year-old me would have loved this dress. It still appeals to me, but it's a "One and Done."

  • Dress - Akris, vintage 80s, thrifted; purchased here for $23.00
  • Shoes - Big Presence Desmond, Fluevog, Fluemarket; last worn here (3rd outfit) in June 2023 with Ralph Lauren sequins for L's birthday party
  • Leather coat (below) - Danier Leather, thrifted; last seen here in December 2023

One and Done can mean it's like a Jammy Dress - it's one piece, so just add shoes, and BAM! You're done.
But in this case, it means I've worn it once (just to satisfy that 17-year-old who still lives in my head), and I'm done with it.

And it's time to move it to Limbo - I should get a good return on my $23.00 investment.
Don't get me wrong - it's LOVELY, and was a pleasure to wear.

But it's not for me, where I am now in my life.
I am glad I have the pictures.

Ooh, la la! So chic!
It got sunny later in the day - hooray!

I love all these primary colours. So very 80s.
I had sneakers on for walking.

Accoutrements:
I wore the matching sash as a neck scarf.

  • Beret - consignment
  • Scarf - Akris, vintage 80s, thrifted; picked up here for free!
  • Gloves - Danier Leather

The stuff:
It's almost time to let go of these shoes - they are pretty thrashed. But it's such a great colour!

Yellow and green bling:
And one blue.

  • Cuff - thrifted
  • Glass bangle - thrifted
  • Silver/aventurine ring - consignment
  • Earrings - Bakelite, vintage 60s, vintage fair
  • Lapis lazuli ring - Wendy Brandes
  • Silver/malachite ring - consignment

I wore my own sunshine today.

  1. Sunshiny color for spring! Laughing because you call this an 80s vibe yet to me, especially with the jacket, sunnies and beret on, I said “60s vibe!” That a sure sign of when I grew up. ;)

  3. That's one gorgeous dress, Sheila, and I'm loving the primary colours styling too.
It looks absolutely fabulous on you too, but if you're no longer feeling this look, into limbo it goes. I'm sure it will be snapped up soon and at a nice little profit too! xxx

  4. Flesh coloured tights, a rah-rah dress, pointy shoes and plastic bangles - that's exactly what we used to call "The Sharons" used to wear in the 1980s! They were the mainstream girls who listened to chart music and had boyfriends with mullets and grey slip-on shoes and waffle suits (The Kevins!) xxx

  6. I get what you are saying with "it's not for me, where I am now in my life", but my golly, do I love this dress. It looks so bloody good on you, I would just keep it for the odd occasion. So nice.

  7. That dress is the very best of the 80s and absolutely perfect on you. Pity it doesn't fit for your current vibe, but haven't we seen you attend an 80s costume party before? I mean.... ;-D
