Birthday Week! The Leaves are Turning Yellow

I was so happy to have this wonderful jacket back in my closet - I immediately paired it with things I've worn it with before.
The newest addition is the yellow cotton blouse. It has enormous sleeves!

  • Wool/silk blazer - Julie Haus, Fall 2011 RTW Collection, thrifted; last seen here in November 2025 with a swooshy skirt (worn only once)
  • Cotton top - Zara, consignment; last worn here (2nd outfit) in September for Mom-Day in Sidney
  • Crinkle skirt - Oska, consignment; last seen here in September with ruffles and Mom's vest that went to Jess
  • Shoes - Wonders Ayers, Fluevog; last worn here in February with my $1,000-dollar sweater (and this same skirt)

It reminded me of the pops of yellow in some of the trees as the leaves turn and start to drop.
I shoved the sleeves up on the jacket to let the cuffs peek out.

Showing my brooches.
And the asymmetrical lapel, a detail I love.

Incognito!
It was foggy all morning, then lovely and almost sunny on the walk home. This was just right.

The stuff:
Soft fall olives.

  • Silk scarf - Echo, thrifted
  • Wool fingerless gloves - Parkhurst
  • Spike brooch - gift from Alison
  • Shovel brooch - vintage 70s, Mom's
  • Mink/pearl brooch - vintage, thrifted

Olive bling:
I found a little box with a few belts in it while I was digging in my tights - I'd forgotten about this cool link belt.

  • Belt - Suzy Roher, thrifted
  • Stone bangle - consignment
  • Green stone bracelet - vintage mall
  • Brass rings x 2 - vintage mall
  • Necklace - Plum, c. 2004
  • Earrings - thrifted, Seattle

Sorry, no kitty pictures today - they were very naughty this morning and tore down one of my solar light strings on the deck (they bit right through it!).

  1. I had a puppy who chewed through an electric lamp cable. It could have ended badly. This is a really good outfit. The sizing of your blog is different as of the last two days. At first I thought it was on my side but other sites are still the same. Quite difficult to read on my phone.

    2. Try searching for my blog "new" on your phone - it should be easier to read.

  2. Wow, yes, your blazer is unique and a marvelous piece! Indeed, your entire outfit is like a comfortable autumn day, neither too much in either extreme but simply just right. :-) I had forgotten about these particular shoes, they are quite lovely.
As for naughty kitties, egads it's a wonder they didn't startle themselves into slinking to a hiding spot! I'm writing this Wednesday morning so two days to go till Happy Birthday! Cheers, Laurie

    1. It's a very unusual piece, and therefore stays. I love those shoes, but they will be gone once I retire.
Oh, they can be so naughty! I'm glad it wasn't an electrical cord (only solar).

  5. A lovely yellow blouse. Just don't wear it to Mom's to do jigsaw puzzles with those big sleeves! Our granddaughter had 2 pet rats and the first thing one of them did when it was let out after arriving was to run to the phone wire and chew it.

    1. Ha, I learned my lesson on that! Oh no! Vizzini used to chew all of our wires - that cat!

  6. wow, that's a wonderful jacket indeed, the assymetrical lapels are so cool!. And love it paired with the voluminous skirt and yellow blouse, and those yellow sleeves peeking!. And always perfectly accessorized!
Why kitties like so much to chew wires (particularly the expensive ones!)?. ;DD

Your outfit is another stunner. I'm loving the pop of yellow, particularly of the cuffs peeking out from the jacket sleeves. Very reminiscent of autumn leaves indeed! xxx P.S.Oh, those naughty kitties :-( xxx
