Black Dress, Plaid Poncho and a Lobster

I got my Covid booster today, so my outfit was based around having my upper arm available.
I wore this leather blazer as both outerwear and in the office when I got chilled.

  • Dress - Spanner, vintage 90s, thrifted; last seen here in February with bronze leather
  • Boots - Truths Teah, Fluevog; last worn here in December 2024 with purple popcorn
  • Leather jacket - Danier Leather, thrifted; last seen here (3rd outfit) in May for Mom's birthday party
  • Plaid poncho (below) - Bodybag by Jude, consignment, gift from L; last worn here (2nd outfit) in December 2024 for brunch and a wee shop

My poppy pin is hiding under the lapel.
One of my VPs took me for lunch today - what a lovely treat.

This dress is a cozy acrylic/wool blend, with a high neck. It has a zip from the shoulder to the side of the neck! You never see that.
It gave easy exposure for the Nurse Practitioner. "Jab it in the rose!"

Incognito. I had a visitor this morning.
"What are you doing?"

I layered my soft fleece-backed poncho over the leather coat for extra snuggliness.

The stuff:
As I had to walk several blocks for my shot (in addition to my usual to/from work), I picked these steampunk boots as they are excellent for navigating the city sidewalks.

  • Leather purse - Ipso, thrifted
  • Silk scarf - fake Louis (Lewis!) Vuitton, thrifted
  • Leather gloves - Danier Leather

Silver bling:
Big, heavy, bold pieces. The lobster had many admirers.

  • Lobster brooch - Bermuda, vintage 90s, gift from Mom
  • Silver grape cuff bracelet - Karen's
  • Silver S bracelet - Mexican, thrifted, Sidney
  • Silver/obsidian ring - consignment
  • Silver Anneke & Lars ring - vintage mall
  • Silver chain ring - Mexican, consignment
  • Silver earrings - Israeli, consignment

Barnabas showed up!
He's always happy to cuddle.

Whateley kept me company while I did my make-up.
"Don't leave!"

This one was up to mischief.
"As soon as you leave, we're gonna shred some paper."

Little monsters!

My friends, I'll be back on Wednesday!

  2. What a fabulous dress! It looks absolutely amazing with the red leather jacket and plaid poncho. Your silver bling is fantastic too. Simple but effective! But most of all, I am loving your feline accessories :-)) Well done on getting your Covid booster! xxx

  4. Yessss, loving Kitty photo bombing!!! Your lobster brooch is brilliant! I must wear my one (acrylic!)as I haven't for ages! The black look really looks sophisticated and beautiful. Can't say I can see that zip you mentioned...it's incognito!

    1. I do too! I always have people commenting on the lobster - it's one of my favourite brooches. No, it's a hidden zipper, you can't see it in any of the pics, but I know it's there.

  5. Such a lovely (and practical) styling. It's so great to see the kitty photobombing. They are so cute when they do that.

  6. I thought I was the only person who dressed for jabs. (I need regular infusions through IVs and consciously choose clothes offering access to my arms.) And, as they say up north, lobsta! Very cute brooch.

    1. It just makes sense, doesn't it? Who wouldn't dress for that convenience? LOBSTA! Ha ha!

  7. Loving the kitten photobomb!!! Fab looks, proving you can wear red and black without looking like an Eighties throwback.
I had no idea that Covid jabs were still a thing for us youngsters, I think you have to be over 80 to qualify in the UK! xxx

    1. I do too - they can 'bomb me all they want. I love red and black together, and I don't think it looks overly 80s at all. Yes, flu shots and Covid shots are still being offered for free here!

  8. Black and red are always a guaranteed good coupling, and the black dress is simply lovely! A zipper from the shoulder to the neck? I have to go reread what you wrote. Yup, that’s what you described. Fascinating. Did you find it more functional than a back zipper? Easier to use? In any case, the dress drapes beautifully on you. Um, no comments about…pockets… ;)
Oh, something else that drapes beautifully on you…Barnabas! Am glad you got your Covid booster! And I’m enjoying imagining what shenanigans Whateley and accomplice (or is it the other way around or more likely they are equal partners in crime ;)) had waiting for you upon your return. ;)
    Cheers, Laurie

    1. I agree, Laurie, it's always been a favourite of mine. I know, isn't that a marvel? More clothes should have that neck-to-shoulder zip, to make it easier to get garments on and off. No pockets, of course. Sigh.
Ha, yes, Barnabas has such good drape - I'll have to see if he'll loll about my shoulders like a fox wrap. They are pretty equal when it comes to shenanigans. Whateley goes for paper, and Barnabas steals the toothpicks and lip glosses!
