Bold Brights: Blue, Yellow and Orange

Another scorcher, with temps up in the high 20s. Getting dressed for an icy office is a challenge!
A few light pieces was all I could stand.

  • Completely Impractical Raincoat - Animale, thrifted; last seen here in July at Finnerty Gardens with Mom
  • Top - J. Crew, thrifted; last worn here in October 2023 (really?)
  • Skirt - J. Crew, thrifted; last seen here in July 2024 with cobalt bookends
  • Patent leather shoes - Karl Lagerfeld; last worn here in July with big yellow sleeves

Getting a wearing of this linen-blend skirt is always a bonus - I love the bold floral print and the funky mix of colours.
Note the giant pockets! I usually wear blue, yellow and orange with it, and often pink or red. It goes with everything.

When I arrived at the office, I was roasting, and quickly tossed aside the Completely Impractical Raincoat. Later, when I got cold, I put it back on.
I scooched my bra straps up to hide them.

I completely whiffed on taking a back view, but you get the idea. When I stepped outside, the heat hit me like a wave.
I was dripping when I got home.

The stuff:
These poor shoes are getting a bit thrashed. Good enough for a quiet day at the office, though.

Bold bling:
The thought of wearing metal was...nope. Wood, high density plastic, just a bit of steel in one ring.

  • Yellow cuff - thrifted
  • Plastic cuff/ring - Italian, vintage 60s, vintage mall
  • Wooden earrings - vintage expo
  • Steel/Lucite ring - Calvin Klein

It's supposed to cool off tomorrow.

  1. Hazaah, the 2023 wearing of the blue top (I had fun clicking "last worn here" links!) has it part of a distinctly familiar outfit. ;-) Your pairings are a winning combination!
The bold bling is very soothing, likely because of the materials (as you alluded) and the pieces look "light weight" - always a plus on a hot day where just the thought of wearing anything heavy makes me wince. I also like how the bling colors mesh with the background of your blog (not the first time I've commented to that effect ;-))
Like you, we have some heat but it is supposed to dissipate by tomorrow.
    Cheers, Laurie

    1. I laughed - I hadn't realized that I'd already worn this exact outfit (I did wear different earrings then!), Laurie! Nothing wrong with repeating a good look!
I like the plastic and wood jewelry when it's hot. As long as it's not heavy metal!
I hope you and Fred had a great weekend!

  2. Yellow and cobalt are always a dynamite combination, but the orange takes it to a new level! You inspire me to wear more colors.

    1. They really are! I like having three colours in my outfits, to create a bit of colour tension. Yay! Wear more colours! Thank you so much - as always - for the lovely comments, Julia!

  3. What joyful colours! The skirt is gorgeous, and your cobalt blue top matches it perfectly, but I can imagine it being a pain to hide one's bra :-) I can also imagine the Completely Impractical Raincoat being sweaty as hell in these scorching temperatures!
It was supposed to cool off here tomorrow as well, but it seems the weather gods have changed their minds, and are sending us yet another +30°C day ... xxx

    1. I felt very happy in all that colour, Ann! It soothes me, as you know from your own experience. I didn't have to hide my bra for long, at least. The CIP is not too bad - it only really touches around the shoulders.
We've been on a roller-coaster of temps lately, from rain and chilly to hot and sunny.

  4. Wood is definitely the best choice of jewellery material for a hot day- burning neck ouchy, no thanks! The way you have picked out the colours of the skirt in the accompanying accessories and garments is flippin genius!!!
