I just had to pick a top and shoes, and I was done!
- Sweater - Ralph Lauren, thrifted; last seen here (2nd outfit) in December 2024 with houndstooth
- Skirt - Zara, consignment; last worn here in October 2023 with blue and black
- Shoes - Truths Pilgrim, Fluevog; last seen here in December 2024 with an oatmeal column
- Leather jacket (below) - Danier Leather, thrifted; last worn here in October 2024
- Crocheted poncho (below) - thrifted; purchased here for $11.95
I like this very thin knit sweater - I did a front tuck to show off the high waist of the skirt and my belt.
The skirt has giant belt-loops. I had to wear a belt! It's a weave - not a print - but it's a synthetic textile. No pockets, either. Grrr.
I'd actually folded it up and put it into Limbo...but I really like it in the pictures.

Since we are now in Leather Weather again, this is my prime opportunity to wear my leather blazers and thinner jackets under my wool ponchos and capes.
A very good blazer - you can't go wrong with a Danier Leather piece!

And then I layered the poncho over it. On my walk to work, a lovely person said, "You look great!"
Aw, thank you, kind person!

This is a really nicely crocheted cape - the pattern is lovely.
I'm excited to wear it more in the coming months.

The stuff:
These shoes are very comfy - I walked to/from work in them so that my bag stayed flatter under my cape.Matchy bling:

The belt didn't want to be in the bling picture - so shy.

Oh yes, the skirt is a keeper! You may chuckle, but if it were mine I would hem it and then increase the back slit accordingly. In any case, it's a beauty of a skirt and sits perfectly on your frame. I quite like the combo with the black mesh top (and spy a black cami underneath or is that part of the top?) All of your rings along with the red stone cuff are super! Nice that you could walk comfortably in the shoes. While carrying a bag isn't really an issue, one less thing to deal with is also a plus. And the orange poncho is guaranteed to produce smiles and brighten any gray day. :-)
ReplyDeleteCheers, Laurie
I like the length (but you're shorter than me) - the slit is a good walking one. The cami is separate (nothing comes with one anymore!). Thank you so much, Laurie.
DeleteI hate when an otherwise excellent skirt doesn’t have pockets! But I see why you want to keep this one—the colors are amazing and the cut looks fabulous on you. I sometimes dream about becoming a good enough sewist to add pockets to my pocketless clothes, but at this point in my life it’s probably not going to become a priority.
ReplyDeleteIt's so darned annoying, isn't it, Julia? I'm still torn, not sure. I would love to be able to rip open seams and magically insert pockets. Wouldn't that be a good super-power?
DeleteThat is the best wearing of an orange crocheted poncho I have ever seen! Must be vintage from the 80s? You are the Queen of layering! Fabulous skirt too I might add.
ReplyDeleteAw, you are too kind, Robyn! I think the poncho is vintage, and the buttons pulled from something else (there are two different kinds, I discovered). Not sure if it's 70s or 90s, but I don't think 80s (we pooh-poohed crochet as being too granola). Thank you!
DeleteThat lovely person wasn't wrong! In fact, I think you look fabulous. I'm swooning over that orange crocheted poncho, which is gorgeous in every way. I'm loving the skirt too but what a shame about the lack of pockets ... xxx
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ann! I know, pockets - the greatest frustration!
DeleteWhat a beautiful orange plaid skirt. I love how you build your outfit around it, with that beautiful orange crocheted poncho and a chic pair of red pointy shoes. Great styling for sure. I agree with the person who said you looked great!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much!
