I wanted to have some colour in my outfit, but my more vibrant skirts fell short.
- Vest - Religion, consignment; last worn here in February for a walk through Ross Bay Cemetery with Mom
- Sweater - Jean Paul Gaultier, consignment; last seen here in October 2023 with leather and orange
- Tulle skirt - consignment; last worn here (2nd outfit) in August with an 80s blazer
- Boots - Babycakes Minis, Fluevog; last seen here (3rd outfit) in February for a party
- Loomed Lady coat (below) - no label, vintage 60s, thrifted; last worn here in April
But when my eyes finally landed on this tulle skirt, my heart said, "YES."
The top half was easy - and I've now hung up my vest on a hanger. I had it folded to gain extra hangers, but I seem to have a plethora, so now it will hit my eye more often. The vest has been reworked from a base garment, I think a men's blazer based on the inside pocket.
An inside pocket for women? Outrageous!
There simply aren't enough days to wear all my favourite spooky pieces - this wonderful 100% wool thin sweater is by Jean Paul Gaultier.
It features a woman's head, a ribcase, a fuzzy black sider and a snake. Cool! She was just right for a chilly morning. The temps are dipping down to single digits now.
I'm snug as a loomed bug.
Accoutrements:
I had to lug a flat of cat food home, so I took the bus. Did not need the toque or gloves by then. - Toque - gift from Tammy
- Brooch - Monet, vintage 80s, thrifted
- Silk scarf - vintage, consignment
- Gloves - Principles, vintage 90s, thrifted
The stuff:
I've had these boots for nearly 13 years - they're as fabulous now as they were when I bought them.

Spidery bling:
I went with a spider theme today.

Like you, I always say YES to tulle. And it's a good sign (albeit sad) that we have more clothes and costumes than occasions to wear them. Happy Halloween!
ReplyDeleteThis is my 3rd tulle skirt, not including my actual tutu. I could wear a costume every single day! Happy Hallowe'en to you, Ally!
DeleteThe boots and the sweater are what caught my eye! The tulle is the softener between the two. :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Halloween tomorrow! 🎃 👻
Cheers, Laurie
Those are the coolest parts of the outfit, for sure, Laurie! Thanks so much - I hope you enjoy the day yourself. Say hi to Fred!

DeleteI'm all about the coat and boots! The Loomed Lady is such an uplifting sight on a gloomy Autumnal morning! xxx
ReplyDeleteIsn't she lovely, Vix? I feel so good when I wear one of my favourite coats. That's one of the things I love best about Fluevogs, is that they're timeless.
DeleteThat Jean Paul Gaultier vest is insane - in a good way!
ReplyDeleteThe vest is by Religion, the sweater/jumper is JPG. Thanks, Claire!
DeleteI love tulle skirts. Why don't I have one yet? The boots are great with it. The vest is not my thing, but that is just me.
ReplyDeleteGreetje
I have three! I love them, and they give such great contrast with "harder" items.
DeleteDaily dressing is an artform with you Sheila - such a joy to see!
ReplyDeleteAw, what a lovely thing to say, thank you, Anna!
DeleteHi Sheila - always happy to see the Loomed Lady coat - and my name on your blog lol! Wanted to thank you for posting your great Mom Day Adventures. On October 9 family visiting from Ontario and my husband and I came to Victoria to celebrate my birthday (October 8). Once off the ferry we headed straight to The Surley Mermaid and had a wonderful lunch. Festivities included many Happy Hours, dinners and High Tea at the Empress (amazing) followed by a Bus Tour which was fabulous! Bill and I will be back and will review your Mom Day Adventures for more great lunch/dinner places and I will also hit the thrift stores. Thanks again for your great blog - so many are going by the wayside as I understand it is more and more difficult for you to post. I am getting your new emails which helps me keep up now that you can't email when a new blog is posted. Great job - really enjoy all that you do!
ReplyDeleteRobyn! So good to see you! Aw, I thought when I posted that on Substack, "She probably doesn't even read anymore," but you do! I'm so happy you saw that.
DeleteAw, and you came to Victoria! Next time, tell me when you're coming and I'll give you a tour myself! I'm so glad you had lunch at the Surly Mermaid, and enjoyed your visit. I'd love to take you on a tour of some of my favourite thrift stores - you can always email me (it's in my profile here).
I love my blog and love my readers - and that's why I expanded to Substack, so that you could still visit my blog. Glad that is working. Thanks again!
