Office Profesh in a Pencil Skirt and Done Dunes

The weather's turning here, with cloudy skies crowding out the bits of blue. Nooooo!
I'm still barelegged (for now), but I gave in and wore a jacket.

  • Top - Obakki, consignment, Powell River; first seen here in February with a drapey skirt
  • Skirt - Danier Leather, thrifted; last worn here in May with pink bookends and a space jacket
  • Shoes - Big Presence Desmond, Fluevog, consignment; last seen here in August with the Murder Mystery Dress
  • Jacket (below) - Dolce & Gabbana menswear, consignment; last worn here (3rd outfit) in May for Book Club

My view of the Castle this morning.
I see bits of blue! It's still summer!

As I bought this very thin silk and cotton blouse - by chi-chi Canadian-made brand Obakki - in the winter, I had set it aside for hot weather...and then (you can guess!) I forgot all about it.
When I first wore it, the pattern reminded me of sand dunes, lines of ripples.

And while I liked it, I fussed with with the neckline - the big sash/bow at the hip weighs the light fabric down, causing it to pull to one side.
Ergo, I am done with it! Off to Limbo with you!

I'm feeling that ruthlessness that comes with the impending closet swap-over. If it's not working, for whatever reason, it gets moved along.
I did like it much more with this office profesh black pencil skirt. But it's not just any boring black pencil skirt - oh no! This one has panels of soft leather on the sides and around the heavy black exposed zip in the back.

Jacketed and Incognito.
This jacket was just right for the weather. It's a menswear piece - it has three pockets! THREE! I am rich in pockets!

The stuff:
Classic pumps, which always get comments. There's a reason why I've had them in a total of 5 colours.

Brutalist bling:
The necklace is gold-plated pewter, made in Canada in the 1970s.

  • Necklace - Robert Larin, vintage 70s, vintage mall, gift from L
  • Hinged eelskin bangle - vintage 80s, thrifted
  • Earrings - vintage, consignment
  • Silver/onyx ring - Tocara, vintage fair
  • Amber ring - c. 1995
  • Brass link bracelet - consignment

Artist Robert Larin hired deaf workers to ensure that their hearing wouldn't be harmed by the forges used in making the jewelry.

  1. My taste skews more toward the jacket and skirt combo than to the dunes and skirt combo, so am with you on sending the dunes to limbo. Interesting regarding Larin’s approach to hiring of employees.

We have cool nights and mornings with the days warming up considerably coupled with sunshine. Fir me this is perfect weather for sleeping and early morning walks!
    Cheers, Laurie

    1. Agreed, Laurie, and I can't say I didn't give it a shot, but the top just didn't work for me. I thought that was pretty cool about Larin - not a lot of disabled people were hired in the 70s!

I love this weather - fall is my favourite season.

Pencil skirts are perfect for putting together polished looks!

  3. Don't tell anyone, but I actually wore nylons today as it has turned quite cold here all of a sudden!
The pattern of that blouse is gorgeous but it does look quite cumbersome with the sash, so I'm definitely hearing you. That necklace is stunning and one of my favourites of yours. I'm squealing every time I see it! xxx

    1. I've been eyeing my tights and nylons too, Ann!
Yes, a bit bummed about the top, but it just doesn't work for me. Yay for that awesome necklace!

  5. The sand dune top is gorgeous but I can feel myself getting the anger just be reading your description of the blessed thing slipping when you wear it.
It's supposed to be 1°C tonight, I've had to bring the tortoise inside! xxx

    1. Yeah, I bought it because it's a very expensive brand, but it drove me nuts.

OH NO! That's way too cold! Brrr! Poor Jacob!

  6. I love that Larin hired deaf people- that's smart and kind in more ways than one!
The dunes are pretty but if it's annoying you, then better to find a new home!
I enjoyed the view of the castle! Kezzie x

  7. It seems like Autumn has now reached most bloggers! Boo!
I see what you mean about the top - it does say sand ripples to me too. However, I've also fallen foul of tops with that shape, so I totally get that it's off to Limbo.
    Love the biker jacket!

    1. Yup, the weather seems to have fully switched here, although we still have nice warm temps. Unfortunately, the design of the top is unbalanced for the fabric, which is too light to stay in place with a giant bow on one's hip.
      Thanks!

  8. Very office appropriate. I would have had a few tips for you to fix the dropping down by the sash.

    1. I considered safety pins or double-stick tape! Neither of which I had at the office, however. :)
