- Raincoat (below) - Ilse Jacobsen; first worn here on Monday
It was gloomy and rainy all day, but still a bit warm.
The Castle looks cozy - I'd like to read in that tower room for the day.
I've had this dress since 2019 - it's by Kenzo, likely early 00s, found for only $68.00 - and I've worn it 8 times.
The dress is 100% cotton, so it falls into the shoulder season.
The colours are not really summery, but I can't risk Cotton Rage by keeping it out in winter. I've done it before and eh, too much hassle to make it winter-appropriate. I have lots of fall/winter clothes, and I'm not going to miss it by packing it away.
The construction of the dress is a wonder - squared sections, buttons here and there holding folds in place. It has a built-in white cotton liner/slip.
I often refer to it as Cinderella's ashes or something along those lines - it reminds me of rainy sidewalks.
I alternated the Vivienne Westwood jacket on and off.
It does complete the look well. I'm practically profesh!

You couldn't miss me in this, and in fact a lot of people smiled at me, and a gentleman at a crosswalk pointed out a rainbow to me.
The stuff:
I've had these boots for 10 years now, and they're still going strong. I've worn them 16 times since I Flashbacked them (enjoy the old pics here), for 47 wearings overall. I'm down to $4 per wear (I paid $199 for them).
Creepy bling:
I'm excited to get all of my creepy things back in my closet/jewelry box. I was able to add a little with my gold/amber ant and the shark jaw cuff.

Gorgeous dress and looks totally awesome with the VW jacket. I would wear it in summer for sure, either with barely there flat metalic sandals if extremely hot, or with flat stompy boots at night. To me it has an edgy vibe that can be brought out. Your green raincoat is functional and cute. I love that shade of green. Lise

I was inspired by your previous posts to begin swapping my seasonal clothes. Decided to be ruthless and donate pieces that have not seen the light of day for two years (except for special pieces). Am going to proceed slowly (at the moment I have lots of free time. ;))

I just love it, Laurie - it's a classic for me. Aw, thank you - still playing around with the hair, and liking how it goes wavy in the damp, but can't seem to replicate that with a hairdryer and product, lol.
DeleteOh, I love that - I hope you wore your autumnal dress! Take your time and don't donate anything rashly. Give it time to sit and see if anything sticks in your mind - those are the things to take back as regret-me-nots.
Many plans this weekend, which are messing with my intent of doing the closet. It will happen, though!

DeleteCotton Rage is like Velvet Rage - certain cottons, especially thin, handkerchief-weight ones like this dress, tend to cling to other fabrics. When you wear a coat or thick tights, the cotton fabric sticks...and starts to climb up your body. I've ended up with skirts up around my waist, or blouses twisting, or sleeves riding up to my armpits. Some fabrics just don't work well together.
This is a outfit I would wear immediately. Of course the jacket is amazing, but I love the hole vibe of the look. Very cool.

ReplyDeleteYes, the dress has a lot of blousy business around the middle, which I need to tuck into the belt or it looks like my boobs are resting on my hips! Not a look I favour, Ann, needless to say! I love that brooch too - but it's an ant (only 6 legs). :-)
