Pink Leopard, Parachute Dress and Rain-Pickle

Oh, Monday, such an un-fun day. I armoured up in...black! I know, such a shocker, but I am very fond of black.
I added some bubblegum pink and some leopard print to add more joy to my outfit.

  • Pink top - Culture, consignment; last seen here in July in a Summer Goth outfit
  • Grey leopard tunic - Dries Van Noten, NWT, consignment; first worn here in February with bell-bottom cords
  • Dress - Motion, vintage 90s, consignment; purchased here for $72.00
  • Shoes - Super Fine Countess, Fluevog; last seen here in June with the lattice dress
  • Coat (below) - Ilse Jacobsen; purchased here for $59.99

A drizzly view of the Castle this morning.
It was the perfect day to stay home and read, curled up with a cup of tea and a snoozy kitty.

Alas, it was not meant to be - that pesky "work" thing had to be attended to.
As you can see, I couldn't wait until after the closet swap-over (THIS WEEKEND, eeee!) to wear this new-to-me black dress, layering it over my pink leopard mesh tee and slapping a pink belt on.

I loved the voluminous skirt and the "swish swish" noise of nylon on nylon as I walked.
It was a blast from the past - it reminded me of parachute pants from the mid-80s! And so, she is named the Parachute Dress.

I can never quite get my layering right for the weather.
I wore this silk-blend Dries Van Noten tunic over the skirt, which gave the bubble hem of the dress a bit of a pouf.

This tunic is sheer but is a nice extra layer when the AC is cool in the office.
I varied between the tunic on...and the tunic off. I had a bunch of giant boxes to pack up and shove around, sweaty work.

I loved the pair of pockets in the dress, and I loved them in the tunic too.
This was a fun outfit overall. The dress is a yes.

Incognito!
Spitty rain but warm-ish temps?

Time to wear my new coat!
It's not a raincoat, it's a rain-pickle!

A rear view so you can fully enjoy its pickle-tude.
This is also a win.

Accoutrements and stuff:
The scarf has a shade of green (hidden by my folding here) that perfectly matches the rain-pickle, but it was all tucked in and not showing. I knew it was there!

  • Silk scarf - Fluevog
  • Belt - vintage 80s, thrifted

These boots were the perfect pop of pink. I'll likely pack them away for fall/winter - I have lots of boots!

Bold bling:
I liked how the earrings went with the drop shape of the pendant.

  • Silver cuff - Mexican, consignment, Sidney
  • Filigree bracelet - St. Paul's Cathedral gift shop, London
  • Necklace - thrifted
  • Silver earrings - Israeli, consignment
  • Silver/onyx ring - Tocara, vintage fair
  • Silver/amethyst ring - vintage mall
And there you have it, Gentle Readers. Monday, done!

  1. Such an un-fun day indeed!
I used to have a parachute skirt and in fact your dress reminds me of that particular garment, which I must have worn to death. Glad to read that the dress is a yes!
In the first photo, your hair and boots are almost like bookends! Plus, the rain-pickle offers such a nice contrast to the bubblegum boots. xxx

    1. I couldn't afford the parachute pants in the 80s, so I'm having fun indulging myself in this style now, Ann! Thanks for your support of the rain-pickle! I have a feeling I'll be wearing it a lot.

  2. A black jumper (that’s what I call a dress where a top can be worn under it; I know a jumper is a long sweater elsewhere) that highlights the waist and swirls below the waist plus has pockets, oh yes! Looks like it could also be worn bare armed for a dressier look. Double win! Am giggling at the pickle raincoat as it reminds me of travel raincoats that can be folded up into tiny packets. From what I can tell by the photo this one looks to be that type of rain jacket. If so, very handy to have around.

    1. I grew up with that definition of "jumper", Laurie - it's definitely in that category of dress. It's a little large to wear on its own, so I'll probably regularly layer things under/over it.

You're right, it does squish up in to a very small package - great for travel!

      Thanks so much, Laurie!
