Countess, Citrus and Crinkle Cut

Today was a rough one at work - loads of emails, lots to get caught up on. I deployed Colour As Armour to help protect myself.
Today's outfit features two new things - the pink booties and the crinkle top. One of them is not getting worn again? Can you guess which one?

  • Crinkle top - no label, vintage, consignment; purchased here for $38.00
  • Skirt - Dries Van Noten, consignment; last worn here in July 2023 with my fringed denim jacket
  • Boots - Super Fine Countess, Fluevog; purchased here for $469.00 (gift from L)
  • Coat (below) - Auckie Sanft, vintage 60s, vintage fair; last seen here in March

Yup, the orange crinkly top is not making the cut.
Pros: Great colours, fun texture, groovy hem and cuffs.

Cons: Rides up, creates giant dunes of fabric across my chest, bottom flips up and stays that way, sweaty.
It's in the wash, ready to move to a new home.

The skirt is one of my favourites - hopefully I'll wear it more than once this year! So many skirts, so little time.
Isn't it lovely? I adore all these citrus colours together.

More colour!
Feeling blurry. I walked home partway with the coat open.

But it was mostly still too cold, although it was bright and sunny.
I did forgo the gloves on the way home.

Accoutrements:
I did not need the scarf on the way home either - it matches the boots perfectly (not a surprise).

  • Scarf - Fluevog
  • Gloves - thrifted

The stuff:
My colleagues were big fans of these booties. Such a great colour - and pearlized! - and so comfy. I felt like a pink countess in my Super Fine Countess boots!

Green and pink bling:
I love wearing my lemon-lime crystal set - they belonged to my Gram S.

  • Lemon-lime crystal brooch/earrings - vintage 60s, Gram S's
  • Necklace - thrifted
  • Coral/olivine ring - Hawaii, Mom's, c. 1977
  • Gold/amethyst ring - Frances Jewelers, c. 1965, Dad's
  • Gold/pink stone cuff - D'Orlan, vintage 60s, vintage mall, gift from L
  • Green stone bracelet - vintage 60s, Mom's

  1. Springtime in a skirt with the color, pattern and what I am sure is top-notch swirlability! I like the stockings and shoes together with the skirt, but I’m there with you on the top. Top be gone! So special to have your Gram’s jewelry. ❤️ When I wear jewelry or clothing that was my Mom’s or Aunt’s it always feels like getting a hug from them.

  2. I love the boots and I totally agree about the top. It is fine when you stand up and don't move. I have made this error in judgement many a time.

  3. I love all the colour-and what a beautiful skirt.
Those boots are gorgeous! After a long Fluevog drought, I went crazy and bought two pairs for my recent big birthday...thanks for the encouragement 😂
    Happy Thursday✨

  4. Those boots are fabulous with the Fuzzy Flamingo! That cuff is gorgeous! x

  5. Barbie boots! The shoulders are too long on the crinkle top, making the arm holes too deep. It's a tricky alteration to do, so you've made the right decision to share it.

  6. I'm due back at the office on Monday, so I'm hearing you on catching up on emails and all that ...
I did guess the crinkle top as it couldn't possibly have been those amazing booties! This outfit is such a blast of gorgeous citrus colours though ... But isn't it a shame the weather's still too cold, even if the Fuzzy Flamingo is always a sight for sore eyes? xxx

  7. The skirt is amazing so it couldn't be that! The top is a bit too much for me anyway, let alone the cons! The coat looks amazing!x
