Yellow, Leopard and Dragonscales

Woo, getting up in the dark was a struggle this morning - I could totally get used to a three-day weekend!
It won't be long until I have to abandon the Stair Pic for the season.

  • Cotton sweater - Ralph Lauren, vintage 80s, thrifted; last seen here in April with daisies
  • Silk "dragonscale" skirt - Strawberry Jill, thrifted; last worn here in November 2025 with my now-gone silk blazer
  • Boots - Wonders, consignment; purchased here for $89.00
  • Wool cape (below) - Dafydd Snowden, Wales, vintage 70s, thrifted; last seen here with this same skirt back in November 2025

I needed the mental boost that yellow gives me on a Tuesday-that-feels-like-a-Monday.
I realized too late that there was a reason I'd put this skirt into Limbo - it's too small on me, and it has no stretch. I'm wearing the waistband up around my chest to make it fit! Sorry, dragonscale skirt, it's time to move you along. Thank goodness I have a red/olive version.

Caped up.
It was the perfect outfit for this lovely Welsh wool cape, and the perfect weather (no rain, chilly but not cold).

Incognito.
I'm always amused that I have to step into my purse to put it on. I carried a tote with my shoes and lunch. No backpack with a cape!

The stuff:
These new-to-me leopard booties were fabulous - very comfortable. I like how they look with brown tights, almost like I have boots on.
  • Purse - Ted Lapidus, vintage 90s, vintage fair
  • Silk horses scarf - French, vintage, vintage fair
  • Leather/cashmere gloves - Club Monaco, consignment
  • Zebra brooch - consignment

Horse scarf + zebra!

Brassy bling:
I wore the bee pin over the RL logo on the sweater.

  • Necklace - D'Orlans, vintage 70s, consignment
  • Bee pin - gift from Megan Mae
  • Brass bracelet - Midzo, vintage expo
  • Ball bracelet - consignment
  • Brass ring - vintage fair
  • Amber ring - c. 1996
  • Brass earrings - Martha Sturdy, vintage 70s, vintage fair

  1. This is a lovely combination, too bad about the skirt, but we can't see the problem, we just see a great outfit!

    1. Thanks so much! I know - I probably could still make it work, but better to move it along.

  2. The new booties! Well, the exclamation is because I knew you would wear them. :-) Despite knowing that the pointy toes in the shoe design don't impact your actual toes (you explained how pointy shoes work) my mind still grimaces at pointy toes. ;-) Nonetheless, I agree they look spiffy with brown tights.
A good cotton sweater is always a big plus especially when it is such a soothing uplifting color! As for the skirt, ah well, as a neighbor would say: it is what it is. The upside is you have plenty of other skirts. :-) Cheers, Laurie

    1. I was very happy with them - so comfy! I have a small collection of cotton sweaters that are perfect for the early fall/winter period. Gotta love a bright yellow! I adore the skirt, but I'll always have the pictures! And yes, more skirts! Thank you, Laurie!

  3. Ooh, what a shame about the dragonscale skirt. It has always been one of my favourites of yours, so I'm glad you've got its sister in a different colourway!
Otherwise your outfit is perfect in every way. I chuckled when you mentioned having to step into your purse, but I'm sure it's worth it when you're wearing such a divine Welsh wool cape! xxx

    1. It's a beauty, and I'll always be able to look back at the pictures, Ann. Or maybe it will reside in Limbo (it wasn't sold at the sale last weekend) and I'll drop weight and it will fit again - you never know.
Thank you so much, my friend!

  4. You're right but I didn't realize this until you said it -- yellow does boost our mood.

    1. It's my biggest mood-boosting colour, followed by red and pink.

  5. Sorry that dragonscale skirt had to go, but you made the most of it!, so beautiful colour combo, yellow is so vitaminic, and those boots are cool, and what to say about that welsh cape!, it's gorgeous!. Really great idea to pick the right bag when wearing a cape or any voluminous coat, that's key! (great advice!)

    1. I don't regret it - I can't keep everything! Maybe one day I'll find one that isn't a Small. The cape is amazing, I agree. I always have to plan my bags with capes!
