Mummy and Denim Patchwork Mermaid

Hello, my friends! Ah, Wednesday, my "first Friday"!
I built my outfit around the boots, which I keep out spring/summer because they are canvas and leather, and are not lined.

  • Cotton jacket - Jean's by Jean Paul Gaultier, vintage 00s, thrifted; last worn here in October 2025 with a taupe twisty skirt, orange and amber
  • Sparkly top - Nygard, thrifted; first seen here in March with an embroidered jacket
  • Patchwork denim skirt - Free the People, consignment; last worn here (2nd outfit) in November 2025 for brunch
  • Canvas/leather cowboy boots - Donald J. Pliner, consignment, Sidney; last seen here in July with this same skirt!

I had a beautiful morning.
What a view! And it was so nice and sunny.

Whateley came dashing in to photo-bomb me, then disappeared.
I picked this denim patchwork mermaid skirt to let the boots be shown off. Leg curtains!

The cream "mummy" jacket picked up the canvas.
A sparkly top and I'm done.

Incognito. It was so lovely that I didn't wear a coat, which ended up being extremely foolish.
By the time I walked home, laden with bags, it was HAILING like mad, soaking me. I tied the scarf around my head, but the denim skirt sucked up about 10 inches of water.

The stuff:
My wet boots, sopping wet scarf and damp gloves.

  • Silk scarf - Banana Republic, consignment
  • Gloves - consignment, Powell River
Blue and gold bling:
One of the earring backs on the pearl/spiral/hoops kept falling off so I made a back out of a pencil eraser.

  • Chain belt - vintage 70s, Mom's
  • Hinged eelskin bangle - vintage 80s, thrifted
  • Big turquoise ring - consignment
  • Silver/turquoise ring - Glee (local)
  • Necklace/bracelet - Swarovski, gift from CA (was her mum's)
  • Crystal bracelet - thrifted
  • Earrings - Martha Sturdy, 2010s, vintage fair

The boys made themselves comfortable this morning, snuggling up together on my side of the bed.
"I'm toasty!"       "This bed should belong to us."

Aw, how could I resist these faces?
Just makes you want to climb back into bed, doesn't it?

I'll be back tomorrow with Mom-Day, stay tuned!

  1. Good outfit! The skirt is perfect for those fab boots as is the jacket.

  2. We must have shared the same weather yesterday, the ghailstorm was biblical!
You are giving me mermaid vibes with the denim skirt and the boots are fabulous.
The boys had the right idea yesterday, staying snuggled. xxx

  3. I love the clear photo of the castle! The 'leg curtains' (apt descriptor!) are admirably doing their task. Alas for being soaked through; I imagine the denim skirt was a bit of a slog to walk in once it got soaked. In any case, changing out of wet clothes at the end of the day always used to feel good to me, like stepping out of a rainforest and into enveloping sunshine.
Here's to a delightful Mom Day tomorrow (which is actually today ;-)) Cheers, Laurie

  4. Those boots are made for walking....too bad it had to hail and rain! We've had our share of rain for days and nights now, creating flooding already in some areas. I hope you have sunshine for your Mom Day. I like the way the kittens have commandeered the bed and made themselves comfortable.
