Two-Fer: Artsy Cardi and Bold Stripes for Dinner With Tammy; Non-Mom-Day Holiday Shopping in Chartreuse, Camo and Blue

Hello, my friends! Apologies for the unexpected absence of a post - I was out for dinner on Wednesday night with my former boss, Tammy, and the time got away from us (much hilarity). So, you get a Two-Fer - two for the price of one (always free!).

Of course, I dressed up for Tammy - we worked together at Fairweather women's clothing from 1999-2000 while I was at university, finishing my degree after a decade-plus absence. Anyway, clothing has always been something we both loved, so I always give a little extra. We last got together here in November 2024 (no pics of us).
Time to wear this awesome cardigan, which has become one of my favourites. I didn't even bother showing the back of it, because it's BLACK, blah. I forgive it due to the amazing front!

  • Cardigan - Desigual, consignment; last seen here in April, worn by Cat for Urbanite at the Art Gallery; last seen here (2nd outfit) in January to visit the AG with Betty
  • Top (barely shown) - Anne Klein, thrifted; last worn here in August for a Mom-Day at Rithet's Bog
  • Skirt - Tibi, consignment; last seen here in November 2024 with a now-gone Adidas sweatshirt
  • Boots - Powerhouse Jyoti, Fluevog; last worn here in May with a pajama jacket and jean skirt
  • Cocoon vest (below) - B. Young; last seen here a week ago over my football-watching gear

I paired the cardigan with my Tibi striped skirt - it's very stretchy and easy to work and walk in.
I have a red sleeveless top under it - I had visions of the neck-ties hanging outside the cardigan, but they're set off to the side, and it didn't look right, so I tucked 'em back in and zipped the cardi so that only a small glimpse of red was visible.

A better look at the sequins on the (yes, that is lips/teeth/nose) side. Very Roy Lichtenstein!
The other side has a lipstick and the top section is black, so I always add a brooch or three. My coworkers loved the Bowie.

I've been coordinating my outerwear with more intention, so planned this bold blue cocoon over it all.
My arms were a little cold and got wet in the morning rain, but eh, it's just water - I warmed up and dried off.

Fully zipped for the morning walk!
The pockets are fleece-lined, but the hood is nylon, so my hair didn't get messed up. I like that the zip is two-way, so that I can pull it down to keep my legs more covered.

The stuff:
I decided on the ginormous cross-body bag at the last minute, so didn't take any pics wearing it. It was the perfect size to stash my booties (I would never walk more than a few blocks in these).

  • Cross-body bag - Pringle of Scotland, consignment, Sidney
  • Silk bug scarf - Smoking Lily, thrifted
  • Leather gloves - Echo, consignment

Bold bling:
My new star brooch moves into rotation. Did you notice the mismatched earrings? I'm such a rebel!

  • Bakelite bracelet - vintage, vintage mall, gift from L
  • Leather/steel cuff - Rimanchik
  • Plastic Audrey brooch - consignment
  • Star pin - consignment; purchased here for $5.00
  • Bowie balsawood brooch - vintage fair
  • Solo balsawood lightning bolt earring - consignment, Sidney
  • Solo red ball/silver earring - Tania Gleave, Vancouver
  • Silver/red enamel ring - antique shop, Sidney
  • Silver/lapis lazuli ring - Wendy Brandes

I had help in the morning from the kittens.
They were quite taken with their new playground: my cocoon coat!

Boys, what are you doing?
"I'm upside down!"      "I'm just watching this weirdo."

I did snap a couple of pictures at the restaurant, a very POSH and fancy place called Marilena (link here to the menu 'cause I loved it - I had the scallops, onion rings, we split the burrata, and I finished with the vanilla cheesecake - the portions were fancy/small but very yummy).

Tammy ordered a port for her dessert, and our server Jamie Lee (like Jamie Lee Curtis!) brought this ginormous bottle, which dissolved us into giggles.
"It's not the bottle, it's me, I'm really tiny," joked Jamie Lee. We had a fantastic time and lingered for nearly 4 hours.

Marilena is part of a restaurant group with locations all over the west coast and New York (so posh).
I recognized CinCin as a dining option in Vancouver.

I kept trying to get a picture of the two of us, but we were laughing too much. This expresses our friendship so well.
Much love to you, Tam!

No Mom-Day, as it's cold, rainy, so Mom and I had a nice long chat on Thursday morning, and I headed to town to get my holiday shopping done, or at least put a good dent in it!
I dressed for walking and for getting wet - it rained all day and it was fairly chilly.

  • Wool sweater - John Varvatos, consignment; last seen here in March with wooly and pink
  • Vest - Indochino, consignment; first worn here in October with snakes and mock-croc
  • Cotton skirt - Rothco, vintage 90s, consignment; last seen here (3rd outfit) in June with red and tall boots
  • Leather boots - Doc Martens; last worn here in August with layered Etro
  • Down-filled puffer coat (below) - Stormtech, thrifted; last seen here in February for a Mental Health Shop

I have a cotton t-shirt underneath the sweater, which is tucked into the front of the skirt only. I'm fond of the camo skirt.
I never took my puffer coat off (aside from trying a few things on), but I thought you'd all appreciate that I could have!

I'd initially chosen blue accoutrements and then realized, I had blue! Why not wear blue instead?
More colour is always good, right? And I love blue and chartreuse together!

I spread my colour and was chipper and cheery with people as I shopped.
Hello to Ashley in [store name forgotten] at the entrance to Market Square! So awesome chatting and connecting with you.

The stuff:
My boots were awesome on the wet sidewalks, but after 5 hours I was exhausted and hopped the bus home.

  • Leather purse - Danier, thrifted
  • Scarf - Vera, vintage 80s, Mom's
  • Gloves - thrifted
  • Angora beret - Parkhurst, vintage 80s, thrifted
  • Star pin - consignment

Sparkly bling:
I piled it on, even though few people saw it. I know it's there!

  • Belt - B-Lo the Belt, thrifted
  • Leather cuff - Guess, thrifted
  • Leather/metal cuff - thrifted
  • Brooch - Eaton's, c. 1999
  • Silver/obsidian ring - consignment
  • Silver/sodalite ring - Scotland, 1996
  • Silver/kyanite ring - consignment
  • Silver/lapis lazuli ring - Wendy Brandes
  • Silver Celtic S pendant - UK, gift from Mom & Dad, c. 1994
  • Glass tile pendant - Raven's Roost, Vancouver
  • Silver earrings - Israeli, consignment

While my goal was to shop for L and my various family members, I usually pick up a few things for myself along the way. This year, I set some of them aside to see if L wants to pay me back and put them in my stocking!

But not this shirt...
It's a vintage late-80s shirt (that washable silk) and it's had its shoulder pads removed. I really like the cropped cut and the bronzy-gold colour.

It's by Radio Tubes "Higher quality, any make or model." Sure! It was $38.95.
I looked up the CA number and had major Flashback - it's from Randy River, a very trendy store from 1989-1992ish.

I also kept this ring for myself.
I picked it up for $2.99 at Value Village (a rare semi-annual visit).

And some more kitten pictures! I caught Whateley in the tub this morning after the cleaners left.
"Do you mind?"

Right outside the door, Barnabas waited with his ball.
"I brought it for throwing!"

He's a very good fetcher! I stuck the squishy ball into a hole in the Mandarin orange box.
"My ball is stuck!"      "Just bite it and pull it out, Barnabas."

Such funny boys!

I walked through town and visited nearly every secondhand store downtown - I cut through Centennial Square and had the "light up" to myself.
It's gorgeous at night - I'm going to be back here on the weekend and will take more pictures.

A selfie of me and the fountain.
Only a little wet!

And there we go, my friends, I'm signing off for the weekend now. Thanks so much for being here and please do drop by for tales of adventure on Monday. Yes, my next post will be LATE, as I have Sunday plans which will keep me from posting my weekend wrap-up. Fun times ahead!
