Christmas Eve Sparkle and Kittens!

One last quick post before I take a short break, Gentle Readers! I worked a half-day due to my awesome former boss telling me to go home early, and I'm ready to chill out with my fam.
I took a selfie in the office bathroom so you could enjoy the details of my jewelry (and my Wonder Woman phone decoration).
  • Sequined cardigan - Zara, consignment; first seen here in September with pink and grey
  • Lace top - April Cornell, thrifted; last worn here in November with brocade boots
  • Skirt - Megan Salmon Somersault Sculpted Pleat Skirt, Fountainhead collection, Winter 2020, thrifted; last seen here in June with pinks
  • Boots - Ecco, thrifted; last worn here in October with a coatigan for Mom-Day

Our dear friend Spence's birthday is today - it sucks to be a holiday baby, I KNOW - so I had already planned (and cleared) having a long lunch as we feted him.
I dressed for the occasion, of course. This sparkly sequin-covered cardigan is ZARA, can you believe it?

I layered my sleeveless gold lace top under it, and paired it with this amazing Australian couture skirt (it's wool, like men's suiting). So many asymmetrical tucks and gathers!
Pockets! If you think my tights are sparkly gold, you are correct! I liked the extra bit of glitz.

I'll have to do a badass styling of this sequined cardi at some point.
I felt very festive - definitely ready for a break.

Outerwear! The forecast was for 1-3 degrees and "winter mix" (sleety-rain).
But by the time I walked home, it was sunny and blue skies. It didn't last, but I did strip all the light grey parts off and open up the coat on the way home.

The stuff:
The boots are a deep eggplant purple and are practically flat. I walked both to and from work in them, as well as to/from the Courtenay Room restaurant.

  • Hat - M&S, consignment, Powell River
  • Fur scarf - thrifted
  • Suede gloves - Aldo
  • Large tree pin - Keyes, c. 1996, gift from Ev
  • Small tree pin - Avon

Purple bling:
L gave me the necklace/earrings set a long time ago as a Christmas gift, and the bracelet a few months later.

  • Necklace, bracelet, earrings - Myka, gifts from L, c. 2003
  • Brooch - The Bay, c. 2004
  • Hinged eelskin bracelet - vintage 80s, thrifted
  • Amber ring - c. 1995
  • Gold/amethyst ring - Frances Jewelers, c. 1965, Dad's

My dear friends. Most of us have known each other for over 30 years.
From left: Casey, Kim, L, Spence (the birthday guy!), Nick, Greg, Rosanna and my eyeball.

Rosanna dressed for the occasion - I am so appreciative that she loves creative styling!
A Gwen Stephani LAMB blazer (the lining was patterned too!), a cherry t-shirt, and what is that purse??

I spotted it when we were on our amazing Sidney Thrift Adventure, and knowing she loves a truckload of whimsy...
"Calling all Fashion People!"

Isn't it amazing? The phone actually WORKS - if you have a landline!

I saw a Christmas Eve murder on the way home...
Of crows! I said hello and walked through a bunch of them - they know me. Look at that blue sky!

And now, kittens with a bag full of tissue.
"I love you!"      "Just what I wanted."

Wishing all of you a wonderful holiday, whether you celebrate or not - you do you!
"Is that Santa?!"            "No, Barnabas, that is a squirrel."

Merry Christmas! Thank you for being here! I'll be back in a few days!
