Bigass Weekend Wrap-Up: Wavy Jeans and Tux Hoodie; Roadkill Plush and Sequins Brunch (and a Wee Shop); Party Tiger!

Welcome back, my friends! What a lovely weekend it's been, and I'm eager to get back to what's left of it, so on with the outfits! We have Friday's work outfit, what I wore to brunch, and my party outfit, and of course, lots of kitten pictures. Settle in and let's get going!

Friday's work outfit was a bit of a jumble.
The new-to-me jeans got their first styling, and I hauled out my Adidas tux hoodie for another wearing.

  • Tux hoodie - Jeremy Scott X Adidas, consignment; first seen here (2nd outfit) in November with plaid and yellow boots
  • Abstract top - handmade, vintage 70s, thrifted; last worn here under Jacko in September
  • Wool blend top - Diesel, consignment; last seen here in September with silver leather
  • Cotton jeans - Ragged Jeans, consignment; purchased here for $58.00
  • Sneakers - Adidas X James Harden, consignment; last worn here (2nd outfit) for my working day at the Botched pop-up sale in October
  • Leather trenchcoat (below) - vintage 70s, thrifted; last seen here on Tuesday

This was very snuggly, good for a very busy day - although the office itself was dead. Showing how I wrapped the top half to fit it under another coat.
I enjoyed the jeans overall, but I'll try styling them in a dressier way next time.

I love the look of the tails.
As ever, wishing this jacket had pockets!

I overheated a couple of times, and shucked my tux, revealing my layers.
This abstract top worked with the jeans but this is a lot of pattern and colours, especially with the addition of the coral tissue-thin wool top under that.

I layered the leather trenchcoat over the tux coat to keep me warm.
It didn't rain at all while I was outside, but we had 5-minute flashes of flooding rain all day, interspersed with sunshine.

The stuff:
Why do I have navy blue gloves? I moved these into Limbo, after picking them in the dark (I thought they were black, ha ha).

  • Silk scarf - Janie Besner, thrifted
  • Gloves - Parkhurst
  • Brooch (worn on tux hoodie) - Mom's, vintage 60s

Brutalist bling:
First wearing of these ear-balls - I loved how comfortable they are.

  • Belt - San Giorgio, vintage, consignment
  • Brass/crystal/turquoise stone cuff - Myka, consignment
  • Brass/orange crystal cuff - Loren Hope, consignment
  • Ear-balls - thrifted; purchased here for $5.00
  • Silver/amber ring - consignment; purchased here for $65.00
  • Bronze ring - P. Sarpaneva, Finland, vintage 70s, vintage expo
  • Brass/glass necklace and ring - Raphael of Canada, vintage 70s, consignment

Had to show off my Grinch socks.
Not that I'm feeling Grinchy...

Not with these sweet boys in the house.
"I like this place."

Whateley curled up beside me while L and I played board games into the wee hours on Friday night.
"I'm sleeping!"

Barnabas went full "Super-Kitty" on L's lap.

We both slept in on Saturday morning and awoke to more torrential downpours. There's nothing for it but to go for brunch with Nick!
I always have to wait for a chilly day to wear my Roadkill top - it's thick plus and is WARM.

  • Top - Euramerican, thrifted; last seen here in January at Beaver Lake with Mom
  • Sequin skirt - Artelier Nicole Miller, consignment; last worn here in July with blue bookends
  • Booties - Matisse, thrifted; last seen here in October with many spooky critters
  • Thermoplastic jacket (below) - Adidas X Fiorucci, consignment; last worn here (3rd outfit) in April for another brunch

I layered a black camisole under the zigzag furry top and paired it with my sequined skirt - very festive!
"Are you going out?"

We also did a big grocery shop after brunch, now that Vlad the Jaguar is back from the shop, and picked up all the stuff we need for Christmas dinner with Nick.

A shout-out to Tessa at John's Place who didn't realize I had a blog. Hi, honey!
I love the liquid silver look of this skirt. So shiny!

I knew this weather would be perfect for my thermoplastic jacket - it's totally waterproof.
Plus it's big enough to fit over the giant plush sleeves, and it also keeps me warm as it doesn't breathe at all.

Ready to go out into the hustle and bustle.
Town was very busy (hard to find parking), as was John's and the grocery store. I'm looking forward to hiding from the world a bit...

Ready for rain! A bucket hat, silk scarf and gloves.
And my plush bum-bag for matching!

The stuff:
I like all the black and white/cream patterns.

  • Hat - Babaton, consignment
  • Silk scarf - fake Louis (Lewis) Vuitton, thrifted
  • Bag - Nico and..., consignment
  • Brooch - Eaton's, c. 1999
  • Leather gloves - Danier Leather

Silver bling:
All round shapes.

  • Silver S cuff - Mexican, consignment, Sidney
  • Silver/gold cuff - JPL, vintage fair
  • Earrings - Chan Luu, consignment
  • Silver/obsidian ring - consignment
  • Silver chain ring - Mexican, consignment
  • Silver/crystal ring - Soul Flower
  • Silver loopy ring - consignment, Sidney

I had time for a very fast 5-minute shop in the Beacon Ave Thrift Store, where I found these wool mittens with Thinsulate lining.
I've never owned mittens! Will I keep them? Maybe! They were only $3.00.

I also bit on this gorgeously worn chambray dress.
It unbuttons to the hem, and has pockets on the sides.

It has a tab/button at the waist, plus a hook behind the waist button.
This ensures that the waist doesn't pull and pop open. What a nice detail.

It was marked "as is" due to this stain.
A few squirts of Folex and it was gone! I've popped the dress into the wash anyway.

100% cotton is nice to see.
I suspect from the style that this is from the 90s.

It's by Nevada Jeanswear - great label! - and here's a bit of the white herringbone detail on the collar that's also on the cuffs and chest pockets.
Dresses were half price, so this was only $7.00.

We saw one of the other regulars at John's - I stopped by his table to compliment his outfit (he always dresses like this). I don't know his name - that's a goal for 2026!
He's a Fluevog fan, though!

But I noticed something about his outfit - I recognized his pendant:
I searched through the blog for ages - I can't remember the brand name! - but I bought this necklace at the WIN Boutique many years ago! I let it go probably pre-Pandemic, and I'm pretty sure it went in a donate bag at some point. How funny that it came back around.

I had a long nap in the afternoon, then L and I had a quick dinner and got ready to go to Nick's Annual Holiday Party (the last one was here (3rd outfit) in December 2024). Of course, y'all know what I wore!
The boobs have been hoisted, and I have a vintage slip under this as well as a pair of tights, so all is smooth and secure, ha ha! Seriously, it was a very comfortable dress to wear for mostly standing in all night.

  • Dress - The 1300 Collection for Holt Renfrew, vintage 70s, thrifted; last worn by me here in November 2017 (8 years ago!)
  • Shoes - Super Fine Cardigal, Fluevog; last seen here in September with sequins galore (I need to wear that cardigan/jacket again!)
  • Coat (below) - C&A Golden Gate Collection, vintage 80s, thrifted; last worn here in November

I love the big swooshy skirt.
I liked that the hem is shorter and less draggy now that Caro's hemmed it. I still tucked the skirt up into the belt so that we could walk to Nick's without it getting soaked.

Such a great pattern.
I felt marvelous in this all night! We got home just before 2am - there was much carousing!

This is the idealized outerwear look.
In reality, the purse was shoved into L's waterproof backpack, the shoes were bundled into a plastic bag, and my wool beret contained every wisp of hair.

But we can pretend!
Although this is a cloth velvet coat, the ginormous faux-fur collar is very snuggly.

Accoutrements:
My friends LOVED the purse - it's very cool. This is its first outing!

  • Velvet scarf - Echo, thrifted
  • Wool beret - Parkhurst, vintage, consignment
  • Big tree brooch - Keyes, gift from Ev, c. 1988
  • Small pin - Avon
  • Thinsulate gloves - thrifted
  • Purse - thrifted; purchased here for $6.95

The stuff:
I changed into these shoes once we got to Nick's and lasted in them for about 3 hours.

  • Belt - Charmant by Deborah Marinoff, vintage 70s, thrifted
  • Hinged eelskin bangle - vintage 80s, thrifted
  • Gold-tone bangle - thrifted
  • Brass/glass ring - Raphael of Canada, vintage 70s, consignment
  • Gold/amber ring - c. 1996
  • Earrings - Biko, consignment

L put together a great outfit of green velvet, grey wool, a mint shirt and a colourful vintage tie.
And a swanky pair of Fluevogs with a metallic green Swordfish toe!

That's my guy.
It was rain all the way there and rain all the way home - where we stripped off all our wet clothes and crashed on the couches with the kitties.

Some pics from the party, none of which featured our host, Nick! Randall took a bunch of these, so is not in them, and I took very few pictures.
From left, Kim, Ross, L, Nick's neighbour Bryan, and Jay.

Caro arrived, looking resplendent in her thrifted dress, found on our trip to Sidney.
In addition to the leather belt and my Fluevog Baroque Velasquez boots, she also wore my Grape Ape coat. She was a hit at the previous party for Ron's work-crew! You look gorgeous, honey!

Rosanna and Jeannie.
Rosanna's dress was amazing - I had to get a better look.

"Get up and pose!" I encouraged her. What a fabulous look!
She is a major thrifter like me, with a fabulous eye for detail and colour (she's a graphic designer).

Amazing shoes!
I see birds!

A zipper ring and an astounding D'Orlan vintage necklace.
You can see the amazing V design and textile there. She figures it's either a Valentino or a "Valentinono." I suspect the latter (after digging around on the interwebz) - Valentino did a similar textile but in different colours, and the pattern was not lined up perfectly like it would be on a designer garment. Still, she did thrift it!

Nancy in sparkly silver and velvet, so lovely!
I'm a big fan of Cat's vintage kilt - she went with classic holiday red cashmere with sequins, but it could definitely veer punk (more Cat's vibe).

Kim and Greg.
So good to see you both!

Yvonne wore her black velvet "suit" - a gorgeous velvet blazer and velour joggers. The teal silk top used to be mine!
Damn, my friends are so good looking!

And lastly, me and my gals.
Me, Caro and Jean.

What a wonderful time, and an excellent weekend. I'm working this week so will be back daily, then will be taking some time off, which means a less-daily schedule.
"I think I could climb that tree."

I'd rather you didn't, Whateley!

Little Barnabas leaning up against me.
"I love you!"

Thank you so much for being here, my friends!

  1. I love how the red jacket looks with the "roadkill" top and the sequinned skirt. (Whenever I see a spatchcock chicken in the store, it always makes me think of roadkill). Your party outfit is very glamorous and that is a lovely photo of you and L together. I'm glad you were able to bundle up and brave the dreadful weather!

  2. Ooooh, you two look positively swanky in your party finery! (Though I have to log my vote for the roadkill/liquid silver outfit as my fave for the week!) Gotta also love the dapper black and white or the grey stripes that your roommates are sporting, also. Readerrita
