It was a burry morning.
The vest and Boss Pants help counteract the very Victorian vibe of the blouse.
I loved wearing this vest again - I had forgotten that I'd only worn it once! It has nice big pockets too.
I didn't do up the waist buttons, as it causes the velvet ties in front to bunch up. This does make me look very wide, so mental note: I should do them up in the future. Incognito. It was supposed to rain all day.
It did not rain at all, but a week of solid rain is coming. You'll see this coat and hat again!

The stuff:
I'm glad I wore these sandals to give me a bit more elevation - I wore them with a little lacy anklet.

Such cute kittens.

That blouse is such a great find, loving those sleeves!
ReplyDeleteI'm crazy about your kitties. We bought William one of those tunnels the Xmas before last but he went off it in the end, I think Jon played with it more than he did! xxx
They are indeed Vix-worthy! Vizzini rarely used the tunnel but the boys love zooming through it. They won't touch the cushy bed we got them, though!
DeleteI like the way the big sleeves soften the business look of the other great pieces. That vest is super!
ReplyDeleteWe are currently in a hotel where there is a momma cat and some kittens outside. Momma kept sneaking into the dining room at a reception, when the smokers went out. She was unceremoniously deposited outside at least 4 times!
That was the goal, so thank you! Aw, that's so sweet!
DeleteOooh! I love the way the blouse, vest and jewelry play together! It all gives an “outside of time” kinda feel. Does that make sense? Revisiting a time that exists only in the head? Conceptual vintage? Whatever we can call it, I like it a lot. Your grandmother’s copper jewelry (and the rest) is stunning, as always.
ReplyDeletePlus, adorable kittens!
And, *sigh*, of course they don’t love the carefully chosen, lovely, cushy bed (facepalm); but as we all know, if it came in a box, they’d be all over that!
Readerrita
Yes, I totally get what you mean, Rita! It's really a big mix of eras. The blouse reads Victorian, the vest feels very swingin' 60s (or 70s), the pants are classic but masculine, and the accessories are all very 60s/70s-coded. I love wearing my copper - it really feels timeless to me.
DeleteNo, they never want that. The laundry basket, my cashmere to be mended...THOSE are good sleeping places!
I LOVE YOUR COPPER JEWELRY. Um, no apologies for ‘shouting’ ;-) but the pieces and their color (even the wood ring and the stone ring) speak of warmth to me and autumn. And this is not the first time you’ve heard me state my support of your copper. :-) I’m especially smitten by the copper cuff and ring.
ReplyDeleteAs for those two shenanigan oriented kitties, I had completely forgotten that at some point they were going to be spayed. Ah well, that’s life!
Here’s to a wonderful weekend! Also, I’m emailing you pictures of Fred’s light sculptures. :-)
Cheers, Laurie
No worries, Laurie! I love my copper jewelry too! Keep your eyes peeled, it sometimes shows up at antique fairs or vintage shows.
DeleteNeutered! Spaying is for girls. They are getting far too fond of their wee fuzzy balls, so we'll be booking them for their snips very soon.
Ooh, exciting!! Thank you!
(chuckling) Ah, yes, neutered! The link you shared to your friend's singing lights is fabulous! I started to imagine the park in my Village having a tree bedecked with the lights…
DeleteThat blouse is absolutely fantastic - I've got a thing for massive sleeves lately - and I love how you counteracted the Victorian vibe with the Boss Pants! I'm another fan of your copper bling too!
ReplyDeleteAnd aww, how cute is Whateley in his new favourite spot! xxx
I was so charmed by it - it does skew very "pioneer"-ish, so it needs "hard" contrast. Thanks so much, Ann!
DeleteThe kittens seem to take after Vizzini, in that they have multiple favourite spots!
