Onwards to an outfit that didn't go as planned! My intention was to wear the Frankenskirt (this one) but it did not ring my bells AT ALL, so I quickly swapped over to my Picador Skirt, which hasn't been worn this season, so...win?
- Cotton sweater - Tabi, thrifted; last seen here in February, layered under my Gigli dress
- Cotton skirt - no label, vintage 50s, thrifted; last worn here in March with red Adidas
- Shoes - Half-Truth Tanya, Fluevog; last seen here a couple of weeks ago with that wallpaper blazer
- Denim jacket (below) - G-Star Raw, consignment, Powell River; last worn here in June
Ugh, this green sweater does not photograph well - the colour in the Stair Pic is accurate.
I enjoyed showing off my gory skirt to my coworkers and theatre-loving friends later that night.
It's a picador with his pic ("peek"), stabbing a bull to get it ready for the toreador. Oh, the 50s...it's probably very influenced by Ernest Hemingway's writing, which caused a surge of interest in bullfighting.
It's all hand-painted, and is the thickest cotton. Incognito and jacketed up for the morning walk (slightly chilly) and the evening walk to the Fernwood Inn for dinner, followed by Belfry Theatre after that. We have 7 of us now who are all season ticket-holders! So fun!
I considered changing, but naaaaaaaahhhhhh...I'll just wear it all day.
I considered changing, but naaaaaaaahhhhhh...I'll just wear it all day.
The stuff:
I use a backpack for my work-days to carry my shoes to and from work to keep my shoes in good condition (these are 11 years old now!). I carried this red vinyl "clutch" to the theatre. It's a former make-up bag bonus with purchase via an Avon collaboration. - Purse - Christian LaCroix Rouge for Avon, thrifted
Matchy bling:
The ladybug brooch was on the jean jacket pocket.
Off to have fun at the theatre!
That skirt is so dramatic, I love it.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful outfits as always.
Sorry to hear that the kitten adoption didn't work out. I understand why with everything you went through with Vizzini, and it's always so hard to see a cat suffer, you just want to start fresh with a healthy kitten.
Kes is very cute. I hope this cat brings you good vibes for your cat adoption.
I think you'll find a lovely kitten soon enough...and anyway the good ones are worth a little wait.
It's a lot of fun to wear! Thank you, Ivana!
DeleteYes, that's exactly it - we just can't go through that heartache again so soon. Kes always gives us good vibes (although he always looks angry to me!). Thanks so much.
I'm so sorry it didn't work out with the kitten you had your eye on, but obviously it's for the best, and I'm sure the right one will turn up and it will have been worth the wait ...
ReplyDeleteThe outfit is a winner, though, even if it wasn't what you'd originally had in mind. I'm loving that picador skirt so much in spite of its goriness. I'm finding that this particular shade of green usually doesn't photograph well, but thought it was just me :-) xxx
We were so disappointed, but better to have a healthy cat.
DeleteThank you, dear Ann! That shade of green! I swear, it is not just you!
Sorry 'bout the cat but ultimately you made the right decision. Grieving takes a lot out of us and one can't do it too frequently. On a happier topic, love the skirt! It's FIRE!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ally! It wasn't meant to be. Isn't the skirt awesome?
DeleteHope you enjoyed the theatre! We had an aborted cat attempt too! Was sad but not right. I like the sweater and the skirt is very eye-catching in a good way, despite the gore!I I like!!!!
ReplyDeleteWe did, thanks, Kezzie! Oh no! It's quite hard when that happens, isn't it? Thank you so much.
DeleteThis skirt is always a win! Why would you even consider changing your outfit for the theatre! LOL Well, because you are you and clothes are your thing. :-) I knew the answer but my point is the skirt with the sweater and matching shoes is a wonderful look. Adding the red clutch (regardless of its beginnings ;-)) makes it a dressy outfit in my eyes!
ReplyDeleteWhat show did you see at the Belfry Theatre?
As for the kitty you were eyeing, it is good that you managed to find out he had health issues before you became too attached to him, let alone had brought him home. There will be another kitty for you and L, of that you can be certain!
Cheers, Laurie
Oh, I used to do that sort of thing when I had more energy, Laurie. Thanks to your prompt, I realized I hadn't weighed in on the play, so I added a bit to the Mom-Day post.
DeleteYou're so right, and we were both glad we never met him before finding that out! We'll keep looking.
