"Why aren't you going into the hall? What about the Stair Picture?"
This is an outfit from my weekend planning session, building a 'fit from my new-to-me vest. Colleague Vizz (not the cat) said I looked "very secretary."
- Mock-neck sweater - Nygard, thrifted; last seen here (3rd outfit) in March for Winesday
- Vest - InWear, thrifted; purchased here for $14.95
- Skirt - Jez of Montreal, vintage 80s, thrifted; last worn here in March with red leopard
- Shoes - Coffee Sumatra, Fluevog; last seen here in January with a 90s dress
- Loomed Lady coat (below) - vintage 60s, thrifted; last worn here in October
"Stop blathering and open the door, Woman!"
The pattern is very much a rip-off imitation of Burberry's plaid, or as my fellow fashionistas on Substack say, a "dupe" (for duplicate, get it?).
The leather skirt is such good quality, very thick and supple despite its age.
"Sigh. It's not going to happen, right?"
I needed the armour today - it was a busy day.
Outerwear! It's too dark in the morning for the Stair Pics, and the temps are hovering in the single digits.
I like the wine colours with the Loomed Lady (she is pale yellow and blue).
Accoutrements:
This velvet scarf is becoming a quick favourite.- Scarf - Echo
- Wool gloves - Parkhurst
The stuff:
My colleagues were stunned that these shoes are over 14 years old. Hey, you buy quality and it lasts! I have passed 30 wears on these - this is my 31st outfit with them.
Black bling:
My black and gold "set." I liked the salamander on my vest.

- Brown eelskin bangle - fake Gucci, vintage 80s, Italy, gift from Mom & Dad
- Hinged black eelskin bracelet - vintage 80s, thrifted
- Lizard brooch - gift from Cat
- Necklace - J. Crew, thrifted
- Earrings - thrifted
- Silver/smoky topaz ring - Anneli Neumann, Sweden, vintage mall
- Silver/onyx ring - Tocara, vintage fair
I do love that salamander brooche, it's a bit similar as your gorgeous leopard shoulder one. And I actually like a secretary look! Fabulous coat!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Nancy! Yes, it's similar - I have a small collection of gold-tone animals!
DeleteThe brooch is super and YES, quality lasts! I have no qualms about the boots I spent £170 on- I've worn them so much these past 4 years!
ReplyDeleteExactly, Kezzie! Shoes like these are worth the investment!
DeleteSmiling at how those wonderful shoes pick up some of the colors in the plaid dupe. :-) I see that fabulous leather skirt as a deep burgundy wine (a color I favor for boots and shoes) and quite like the burgundy stockings (a color I favor for tights - stockings and I do not get along!) In other words, it's a color I appreciate. Definitely see the secretary vibe that colleague Vizz noted! Your outfit looks nice and warm, ahhh.
ReplyDeleteCheers, Laurie
You know I loved that matching too, Laurie! I also love the whole range of burgundy-wine-red. Thank you!
DeleteYour outfit may be "very secretary" but in the most stylish way possible! Love that coat!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Claire! I do too!
DeleteI'm seconding your colleague's "very secretary" description of your outfit, but would like to add "very cool". I absolutely love all of it, including, of course, your lovely Loomed Lady! xxx
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Ann!
DeleteI liked this look as soon as I saw it, but it just kept getting better as you added layers. If it is giving secretary, then it's giving a fun and fashionable secretary. That skirt gives this look a rock vibe, so fabulous. As I said, I liked this look, but when I saw what you wore over it, I liked it even more....Wow, for the coat and the heels! I love statement coats and heels!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you so much, Ivana - this is a very "you" look! I always try to ensure that my coat goes with what's on underneath!
