So Many Neutrals, and the Last Black Sandals

One of my coworkers commented today that my outfit had "so many neutrals, for you." Yup, I'm kind of veering that way more these days. Don't worry (I assured her - and you, my dear readers!), I'll never give up colour!
Last wearing of this perforated PVC skirt for the season - it's getting packed away.

  • Cardigan - Cable & Gauge, consignment; purchased here for $22.98
  • Skirt - Astr, thrifted; last seen here in August with jungle shoes
  • Shoes - Ralph Lauren, thrifted; last worn here in August with the Lady Garden of Delight skirt

It was a little chilly out this morning, but it warmed up to a lovely blue-sky day. No outerwear needed!
I met up with Elaine after work for a late birthday dinner (for her) - yummy Thai food.

The stuff:
Last wearing of these shoes - the black is rubbing off in places, and the bed under my feet is peeling off. Going back through my "last worn here" links, I've worn them 12 times including today, and I bought them for $32.95, so that's $2.75 per wear! Pretty good, and I'm happy to let them go. They were super comfy - I walked home from town tonight in them.

Black bling:
I love my new black set - I need to find some hematite earrings to go with the ring and bead bracelet! I have a necklace (Mom's) that's packed away right now.

  • Chain bracelet - thrifted
  • Bead bracelet - thrifted
  • Ring - thrifted
  • Earrings - thrifted

  1. It is a very neutral outfit but with the embellishment on the cardigan and perforation on the skirt it's so you - neutrals that aren't basic :)

    1. That's exactly it. It's not a plain cardigan, and not a plain skirt, either. Every piece has to be special!

  2. I love your new cardi, Sheila! The beading is so pretty! I had a similar one years ago that I donated. Why?? I want it back!! Haha XXX

    1. Thank you, Sasha! Some of the beadwork is a little loose, but I'm okay with that. I see vintage cardis like this frequently in the thrift stores - go find another one!

  3. Neutrals are a great path to take sometimes. They can be very expressive, as you've shown here. Love that cardigan. We're heading into some beautiful fall days. Love it!

    1. They are! And especially since I'm "naturally" colourized all the time with my hair and spectacles, neutrals can really help that pop.

I am reveling in this beautiful weather. I picture you swooshing about in downtown Van right now!

  4. It is a bit odd to see you in a colourless outfit but you wear it well. Plus its never really colourless as your hair and glasses add some.
I just realised that skirt is the same brand as my light blue pleather one which btw I have not worn in a while.
I have a question, what is the highest cwp you've had when ready to get rid of an item ?

    1. As you note, because my hair/glasses are both so bright, neutral can help accentuate that. Ooh, you must wear your skirt again soon!

Good question - I think it's probably a pair of shoes (I've had a few pairs of Fluevogs that were duds and only worn a couple of times) or maybe a fancy item that I just don't wear that much - I have a beautiful velvet/satin cape that I rarely wear that was around $125. Of course, my new custom dress is the highest cost-per-wear right now!

  5. I have neutral days too Sheila, but even on these you've still got a lot going on with textures and embellishments, so I'm not concerned that you may be off colour, ha ha!

    Changeover coming up soon?

    1. I'll never be off colour, Anna! I love it! But I do feel like neutrals are grabbing me more these days. Yes, post will be up today!
