Rockin' the Vest, and All the Non-Matchy Colours

This week is a short one for me - yay! I took a few minutes last night and pulled some ideas for outfits together. This one's a bit of a hodge-podge of colours and textures, but I kind of like how it turned out.
And yes, I wore my new-to-me vest right away! "I knew you would," said L this morning.

  • Blouse - Tori Burch, consignment; last worn here in September with pink and yellow
  • Vest - 2b Bebe, consignment; purchased here on the weekend for $39.00
  • Skirt - Talbots, consignment; last seen here in November with royal blue and floral
  • Shoes - Room 502 Entrance, Fluevog; last worn here (2nd outfit) a week or so ago with blue metallic leopard
  • Coat (below) - Bourgeoiis, vintage 80s, thrifted

Black vest, cream and navy silk print blouse, mauve skirt, grey tights and purple shoes. I don't think a single thing matches...but it all goes!

First wearing of my faux leather vest (and yes, the studs do go all the way around to the back on one side), and I think the key for me is wearing it done up. I don't like it undone at all - too flappy and I felt like it added visual weight.
It was also amazingly good with temperature control. Yup, warm here in the body section, nice and cool in the arm areas.

Outerwear:
A little warmer out, so this nice wooly overcoat is perfect. Added my consignment beret, thrifted fur boa and my purple Danier gloves.

I did my nails last night:
That's 2 coats of  Rimmel 60 Seconds polish in "Green With Envy" - no idea when I bought it, but the bottle had a good coating of dust on it, which probably means a few years ago, heh. Maybe 10, maybe 2. I have put one coat of my favourite glitter topcoat on here again, Sally Hansen's "Grape Shifter". This looks more teal than green to me - I like the bits of pink and silver glitter on top of it.

The stuff:
These are quickly becoming one of my favourite pairs of shoes.

Glitter and leather bling:
And throw some sort-of matching blingy purple things with it, sure, why not.

  • Necklace - thrifted
  • Wrist-wrap - Kipling, thrifted
  • Ring - c. 1984, gift from Dad
  • Earrings - local

  2. I just love the colors violet and purple, so your boots and jewelry are ticking my boxes. (And your hair! I wish I could.....).

  3. Yes, you're right Sheila.

Nothing matches yet everything goes! I think it's because the skirt, shoes and possibly the grey tights are all on the same side of the colour spectrum. The navy patterned blouse and the studded vest give a textural contrast. Whatever, it's a lovely outfit and I think your woolly overcoat is fab! Amazing purple shoes...

    1. Thanks, Veronica! I agree - the colours are all in the same family, and all of the purples have a grey tone. You know I love my texture, too.

  4. The purple accents are the mayor players in this look. Boots, necklace, skirt and of course those cool nails.

  7. love the whole outfit, and yesterday's. I'm not sure what you mean by nothing matches? They seem similar in hue, and the leather vest has the spotted studs which echo the pattern of the birds.....I would love that outfit myself (incl the vest)

    1. Thank you, Sue! I tend to go full-on matchy for colours most of the time - that's what I mean. None of these exactly match, but the tones (especially with the purples) are in the same range.

  8. The tones in this outfit all go together beautifully, and that is a kickass vest! Nice work on the nails; I think I need to get mine done by a professional as they are a mess.

  10. Not matching isn't really important is it, as long as it works and this does. The biker vest is cool and reminded me that I have a cream vest in my closet I'd forgotten about...
I love your maincure again this week. I'm going to find time to be groomed like you sometime!

    1. Yes, exactly! I wasn't sure if I'd be able to pull of this vest, but I liked it in this outfit. That's the point of the nails - making sure I took the time to give myself that treat.
