Snakes and the Jungle Jammy Dress

Hello, my friends! After our eventful night prior, I knew I'd be utterly exhausted for my work-day. Jammy Dress time!
While I love the fabric and colours, I loathed this fabric, so off it goes to Limbo. I'll get my money back.

  • Dress  - Luisa Cerano, thrifted; purchased here for $19.99
  • Boots - Ecco, thrifted; last worn here to the periodontist in October
  • Puffer coat (below) - Donna Karan, consignment; last seen here in March

I had major creases across my bum and a lapful of wrinkles by the end of the day.
I wanted pockets too.

Darn! I really like the pattern.
Oh, well. They can't all be winners, kids.

I picked this dress to wear because putting up the office Christmas tree is part of my job.
I like that part!

My colleague Stefanie admired the dress, and at the time I was happy with it.
It was okay, a B-, but that's just not good enough.

Here's the tree - I used my awesome editing skills to remove my Fire and Life Safety info and block out the company logo on the treetop star.
I decorate the tree the same every year - it takes about 2 hours to set it all up and less than a hour to take it down in the New Year. I turned the Reception lights out so that I can bask in the red glow. I'm not putting my own Christmas decorations up this year (enjoy last year's here). I just don't feel like it.

Outerwear! The temps have dropped to around 3-6 degrees with little to no variation.
Time to break out my puffer coat! It's stuffed with down and is so cozy and warm.

Feeling snuggly.
I like the tall toque. My tights are sheer black with gold dots.

Accoutrements:
I had to dig out my bag of fur scarves - the silk ones don't cut it once the cold weather rolls in.

  • Fur scarf - thrifted
  • Toque - thrifted
  • Leather gloves - Danier Leather

The stuff:
These are dark purple, an eggplant colour. These are so comfy I walked to and from work in them.

Gold bling:
My coworkers love my snake jewelry - and so do I! Everything here is a treasure, though.

  • Bracelet - Whiting & Davis, vintage 70s, vintage fair
  • Necklace - vintage 90s, vintage expo
  • Brass rings - vintage 70s, vintage mall
  • Leather earrings - vintage 80s, consignment, Powell River
  • Gold-plated sterling ear-cuffs - consignment
  • Eelskin bangle - fake Gucci, Italy, c. 1998, gift from Mom & Dad

Speaking of treasures...I was blogging last night and heard a "scritch scritch" noise.
"Hey, let me out!"

The little white and pink toes!

  1. That last photo made me laugh out loud!
The print of the dress is very groovy but if I'm honest the shape of it isn't doing it for me. That puffer is probably one of the best I've ever seen, the colour is gorgeous.
What a ray of sunshine you are decorating the office, I bet all your colleagues love you! xxx

    1. I laughed when I saw the paw too, Vix!
Yes, the puffer is amazing - I love the waist on it - but the dress has to go.
Aw, that's so sweet - I don't know if my colleagues even noticed, lol.

  2. The boots are awesome, the colour and the heel/platform shape. Wonderful that they are comfy enough for walking. Vizzini also made me giggle out loud. High Five Vix! Lise

  3. In the closet, was he! Priceless photo!
Ah, too bad for the dress as, like you, I think the colors and pattern are perfect. It sounds like the material wrinkled beyond the point of acceptance. Bummer. :(
The purple leather-gold earrings are super!
I’m not presuming anything but do want to share that IF your disinterest in putting up holiday decorations at home has anything to do with the craziness across the border, to borrow from Michelle Obama, when they go low, we go high. Or, to put it another way, don’t let the b*****d get you down.

    1. Such a little monkey, he is!
I love that pattern, and was disappointed in the crap quality of the textile. It's just not good enough.
      I love the earrings too.
No, it's nothing to do with that, actually, more the lack of being around to enjoy it - it's also a huge amount of effort and this year it just feels like too much. I'll enjoy it more with a break. Thank you for the pep talk, Laurie - those are wise words from a wise woman! Hugs back to you, my dear friend.

  4. Pretty dress! The colourful print and gold dot hosiery look pretty.
You decorated the Christmas tree beautifully.
    That snake jewellery looks amazing.
It is good that you have the warm clothing!
I feel apprehensive about freezing winter weather myself... ;-((

  5. I'm not sure our tree and decorations will go up this year either. You did a lovely job on the office tree.
    Oh that little paw!

    1. Yeah, it's just not in the cards this year, for a variety of reasons - and I get to enjoy the office tree, so I have all the décor I need. Thanks, Goody!

  6. Honestly didn't know what that last picture was at first and thought it was some creepy, Canadian tarantula!!! Then I realised it was Vizzini! Awww!!
The dress looked pretty but if the fabric doesn't cut it, you won't reach for it! I know that feeling too!
The tree looks great! Kezzie xx

      Thanks, Kezzie!

  7. What a shame that groovilicious dress didn't live up to expectations ...
The office tree will probably be the only one for me too this year. I can't imagine being in the mood for Xmas ... Aww, naughty Vizzini hiding in your closet :-) xxx

    1. Yes, a bummer, but I'll be able to sell it easily, so not a huge deal.
I hear ya - it's just too much for me this year. Vizz always makes me smile - he hasn't done that in a long time!

  8. It's a shame about the dress...it's such a cool print and fabulous colors. But, there's no room in the closet for things we dislike (except bras and such). As for Christmas trees, I'm only putting up three, and they're just pencil trees with very little to go on them. I can't put up our massive tree because Mike can't navigate around it this year...hopefully, next year, he'll be on his feet again. I told him I was just going to skip it as...well...this little blue dot in the middle of a vast sea of red is feeling even more blue. But, the husband said, "Nope, you love Christmas so you're decorating." My sons helped me get stuff up and down from respective places so there's no going back now.

I hope you have a fabulous weekend.

    1. I know, right, Marsha? If only they'd used a nicer textile! Limbo-be-gone!
I thought about just doing one small tree, but even that feels like too much. And by now...I just don't have the energy to do it. Aw, stay blue (in the best way!), and hang in there. You'll be glad when you put things up - it always makes me happy. Thank you!
