A PANK-ish Kind of Vibe

My goodness, Gentle Reader, today was A DAY. I was non-stop busy at work, preparing to take a mini-break for US Thanksgiving. Yes, I'm Canadian, and for my Chosen Family it's all about football. I'm about to go make a ginormous batch of chili, to be enjoyed by our best game-loving friends all day tomorrow.

I needed some Major Armour - PANK!
The star here is my PANK suit or co-ords, or whatever the cool kids say, featuring this newly-thrifted wool/cashmere blazer.

  • Wool/cashmere blazer - Proportion Petite by Conrad C, vintage 00s, thrifted; purchased here for $24.95
  • Top - M by Missoni, thrifted; last worn here in May with DVF and Dame Viv
  • Trousers - Joie, consignment; last seen here in August with snakeskin bookends
  • Sleeveless coat (below) - Only, thrifted; last worn here a couple of weeks ago

The trousers are so close to being a match for the blazer (not quite, but REALLY close), and that's good enough for me.
I'm probably the only person of all the folks I saw today who even noticed. I always remind people, "95% of people don't give a fork about what you're wearing."

I loved the blazer - it was very cozy and I liked the slightly short sleeves. The better to show off my bracelets and highlight my rings!
The pockets were excellent for carrying my work phone (now something I have to consider).

Just a slight "extra" in the shoulder.
The trousers are awesome on their own.

I took the jacket off once.
This sparkly top is one of my favourite pieces - the bands of colour go with anything. I usually wear it with pink, purple, grey, black or orange to match.

Done up.
So profesh! I'm practically the Prime Minister of Canada in this classy 'fit!

I picked up some bread and buns at the bakery on the way home.
"I love your whole kind of vibe!" said the baker who helped me. Why thank you, lovely person.

I love telling people it's all secondhand.
It feels like maybe folks are finally getting on board with that. Black Friday, bah.

Accoutrements:
Brr! It was 3 degrees this morning - I had to dig out my fur scarf.

  • Hat - M&S, consignment, Powell River
  • Fur scarf - thrifted
  • Leather gloves - thrifted

The stuff:
I love these shoes - they're such a fun shape.

Crystal bling:
The oldest thing here is the starry brooch - I bought it at Eaton's Department Store c. 2002.

  • Belt - B-Low the Belt, thrifted
  • Crystal necklace - thrifted, Vancouver
  • Brass/crystal cuff - Loren Hope, consignment
  • Fang bangle - Alexis Bittar, consignment, Sidney
  • Brooch - Eaton's, c. 2002
  • Silver/crystal ring - Soul Flower
  • Pinky ring - Dots
  • Silver/onyx ring - Tocara, vintage fair
  • Earrings - thrifted

A very Happy Thanksgiving to my US friends! There is no Mom-Day tomorrow - sorry, Mom, football wins this one! - and I've got a busy weekend ahead, so please do drop in on Sunday for tales of adventure! As always, thank you so much for dropping by.

Cheers,
Sheila

  1. Happy Thanksgiving Sheila! Hope you have a fun Football day!
The PANK match is very pleasing and a beautiful shape. You are right about the top- it really goes with everything!
Hope you have a delightful rest! Kezzie x

  2. Fabulous outfit! Ha, my eye saw the top and bottom as a perfect match till you suggested it was good enough, then I discerned the slight difference. I like every part of your ensemble. Interestingly, the belt is what added the pizzazz for me, it stands out without hogging the limelight and helps the top and ‘suit’ pieces pop.
Hoping the team your chosen family wanted to win did well in yesterday’s game! We had a quiet Thanksgiving, first time in about 30 years that it was simply us. We enjoyed making a mini version of a traditional meal because for the first time since we stopped hosting (about 10 years) WE HAVE LEFTOVERS! This is, perhaps, the whole reason for cooking the meal! ;)
    Happy Weekend!
    Cheers, Laurie

    1. Nice, I'm glad it fools the eye. I also love this belt - I like all the studs and the extra length.
Nope, none of "our" teams won, but it was a lovely day nonetheless, thank you! That sounds like a welcome quiet version of the holiday for you and Fred - how wonderful for leftovers! Turkey soup!

    1. Thanks, Vix! Nope, none of the games went our way, unfortunately, but it was still loads of fun.

  4. Preparing for time off is always hectic at work, so I'm hearing you there! I bet your PANK-ish almost suit worked brilliantly as armour!
I had to think of you the other day, when I saw a lady on the tram wearing a PANK-ish outfit. But she managed to make it look boring by wearing nothing but PANK: trousers, raincoat, scarf, handbag, the lot. I was dying to know what she was wearing under her coat :-) xxx

    1. It was nuts, Ann - just non-stop action all day. Utterly exhausting, so I'm glad I had my armour on!
Oh, that's a lot of PANK. You definitely need to break it up with a different scarf and bag!

  5. If you hadn't said the blazer and the pants didn't match, I wouldn't have known it! The sparkly top definitely adds interest. I think it's hilarious you celebrate US Thanksgiving for the football. We didn't have the TV on until everyone had left. We are currently watching "The Empress," and your all done up look reminds me a bit of that show. Long weekends are nice, but they surely do mess me up even though every day is a weekend day for me now. Looking forward to your weekend wrap up as always!

    1. I'm glad to fool you, Marsha! Yes, it's been a long-standing tradition in our household, easily 20+ years of it. I'm envious of your "weekends"! I can't wait till I retire...

  6. At first glance it does look like a matching suit.
You look fabulous in this Pankish look.

  7. Love your winter accessories, very elegant and movie star alike. We look so close at the details of our outfits, indeed no one else sees a difference or something that is not how it should be. Enjoy your weekend!

  8. I hope you're having a wonderful weekend!
Pank suits you well. I can see what a versatile piece that Missoni top is and the black sleeveless coat is a good shout to wear over a blazer.
