Green, Floral and Trout Shoes, With Sparky Tips

Funny how little things can just lift up your mood. I'm doing my sparkly nail polish again this week, and still getting a little thrill out of that when I see my fingers.

And spring! It may be still cold and gloomy here, but the temps are above freezing! This calls for a springy outfit!
And a couple of new-to-me items, because something new (or new-to-you) can elevate too.

  • Sweater - Dalkeith, vintage 60s, thrifted; last seen here in September 2016 with sheer dots
  • Skirt - Jack by BB Dakota, thrifted; purchased on the weekend here for $9.95
  • Shoes - Miista; last seen here in December 2016 boldly going to the dentist
  • Coat (below) - Danier Leather

First wearing of this skirt that I bought on the weekend. I loved the pleats and the swooshiness. I also like that it has so many colours in it - this will go with so many of my spring/summer shoes and tops.
This darker green wool sweater tones it down slightly - we are still in January, after all.

Outerwear:
Did someone say it's warmer out? I could have worn a thicker coat, but I really wanted to wear this lovely bright yellow with this skirt. Standard thrifted hat (Jones New York), fur boa, and my Parkhurst wool gloves.

The stuff:
I'm treating my feet this week and planning for flats/comfy shoes for at least a few days. These shoes have broken in nicely since I bought them about a year ago. Can't go wrong with a good "trout"-coloured shoe, either!

Extreme bling:
Very blingy bling! My new-to-me necklace makes its first appearance. It flip-flopped around on my neck a bit, but not too bad.

  • Necklace - J. Crew, thrifted
  • Ear-balls - consignment
  • Gold/green ring - consignment
  • Silver/sodalite ring - Scotland, 1996

I did my nails last night, continuing my self-care of giving myself a happy bit of sparkle.
This is Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in Expresso (two coats) and one coat of Grape Shifter (the sparkly stuff). Without the glitter coating, the base colour is a pinky-brown, a really nice neutral.

I wanted to give my awesome Winesday women a little treat this past weekend, so I took my file and 4 colours of polish and offered free manicures. I did 9 women's nails, minimum of 2 coats per person, in about an hour. All dry and accounted for! I love quick-dry!

About half of my Winesday gals work in government or in conservative jobs, so I offered a "Corporate Sparkle" mani of just sparkle on their pinkies.
Clockwise, from the top: Elaine with two sparkle thumbs only, Karen with just plain Expresso, Linda with the same as mine (2 x Expresso and one sparkle coat), my plain thumb (thumbs up!), Cat in Set Sail (with a Corporate pinky sparkle), Sarah in Expresso with a sparkle only on the moons and up the sides, Caro (with Corporate sparkle), and Claudia, who dared to go Chartreuse.

Sparkle on!

  1. I love the nails! They look like a fun group.

That pleated skirt is a knockout, especially as winter drags on. (Does winter have dog days . . . ?) I have a floaty new skirt that I just thrifted for spring, and I've been pondering whether I can make it work right now with boots and layers. We've had a warm spell, but afternoons are still at most about 35F (maybe 2C). Are you wearing nude hose to stay warm?

    1. They are the best group. :)

Thanks, I'm just feeling like I need to be springy to alleviate these cold grey days. You can totally make your skirt work! Oh, yes, I'm wearing nylons/other leg coverings every day. Brrrr!

    1. Thank you! Many times, the things I buy don't look that good on the hanger, so it's good to see what they look like on. Ooh, I like brown nails.

  5. I was just reading another post the other day about the positive power of nail polish - a little pick-me up for a dull day! :) http://www.tosparklepunch.com/blog-1/2017/1/14/shes-a-rainbow
I've got a sparkly mani at the moment too, and although not as nice as yours it is making me smile through the day as I see it, I'm not taking it off just yet although it's chipped quite badly!

Really nice first outfit for this skirt too - the green is lovely with it although you're right it will go with so many other colours :)

  6. That outfit is gorgeous. I really love that 60s sweater. I really wish I could do nail polish, but I'm afraid I'm far too clumsy to do it neatly. xxx

    1. The quick-dry stuff is awesome, and way easier than you think. Check out a tutorial online for doing your own nails, or ask someone to do it for you!

  7. I love that you can't wait to get your spring clothes out even though it's still January. That skirt is lovely and goes so well with your yellow jacket.
Manicure looks fab too. What a busy life you lead and yet you still have time to give yourself a mani! How impressive x
