Easing Back in Leopard and Black

Oh, Monday, my old foe - it was really hard getting up early again today! But I was cheered to see that it's definitely lighter in the morning.
We're still a few weeks from the Return of the Stair Picture, though.

  • Cotton-blend jacket - Royal Underground, consignment, Powell River; last seen here in October 2025 as outerwear with black and red
  • Sweater - Papillon, thrifted; last worn here in November 2025, layered under a plaid dress
  • Skirt - Esqualo, Dots sample; last seen here for triple duty in July 2025
  • Shoes - Mini QTees, Fluevog, consignment; last worn here way back here in January 2025 with a now-Limbo'd orange suit
  • Puffer coat (below) - Donna Karan, consignment; last seen here in December 2025

To ease myself back into the routine, I set one goal today: to take down the office Christmas tree. Did I get this done? No. I was bogged down in finance stuff for most of the day. Maybe tomorrow.
I knew I'd need a stretchy and comfortable outfit for the first day back. The ruffled jacket is my favourite piece in this outfit and deserved a re-wear. Pockets!

It ended up being dry today, although still cold.
I reached for my down-filled puffer to keep me warm.

I was ready for anything.
Rain is on the way!

The stuff:
I was surprised to see that I haven't worn these shoes in almost a full year. Even though they are only out for 6 months, that's not very much. It might be time to move these along...

  • Beret - Parkhurst, vintage, thrifted
  • Mink rose pin - thrifted
  • Fur scarf - Danier Leather, thrifted
  • Leather gloves - vintage, thrifted

Red bling:
I made some small adjustments to the bracelet's slide lock - it fell off twice during the day, so I fiddled with it a bit more when I got home. Otherwise, I loved it.

  • Bracelet - vintage 60s, consignment; purchased here for $24.00
  • Eelskin bird bracelet - vintage 80s, consignment
  • Stone ring - thrifted
  • Brass leopard ring - thrifted
  • Brass Brutalist ring - vintage 70s, vintage mall
  • Bronze ring - P. Sarpaneva, Finland, vintage 70s, vintage expo
  • Metal earrings - Betsey Johnson, swap from Cat

Wait a second, something's missing.
Ah, the brooch!

  • Brooch - Monet, vintage 80s, thrifted, Sidney

    1. Aw, thank you! The office was really dead on Monday, hardly anyone saw it.

  4. It's a rare occasion when I smile wider at your jewelry than at your outfit but that's what happened just now! Your jewelry is sheer delight – the reds cause the smile, the bronze and brass simply shine – how could the combination NOT cause a smile! I also love your skirt for the colors and drape so am giggling that your favorite is the ruffled jacket. :-)
May each day be an easier adjustment back into the swing of things. Like you, I've also noticed that the daytime darkness is slowly beginning to recede; it stays lighter later, bit by bit! Are you familiar with Port Townsend in WA? Robin and Emma spent New Year's Eve there and quite liked it. Hi Barnabas & Whateley!
    Cheers, Laurie

    1. You nailed it, Laurie - my clothes are often "backdrops" for my jewelry. The ruffled jacket has ragged edges, plus an extra layer of organza backing the ruffles. I also love the fleur-de-lis zipper pulls on the cuffs and front. So rock & roll!
Thank you! It's been an adjustment, and there's a big push on to get folks back in the office (which means busier days for me). I love that it's light out again when I walk home - I'll have to dust off my sunglasses soon!
I have never been to Port Townsend, but I'm aware of it.
More kitty pictures tonight! I've been remiss in taking pics.
