Burgundy Bookends and Brutal Bling

My friends, it's back! The stair picture!
Spring is on the way!

  • Cotton sweater - Karl Lagerfeld, consignment; last seen here in March 2025 for a Mom-Day at Colquitz Creek
  • Tweed wool skirt with studs - Miu Miu, consignment; last worn here (3rd outfit) in December 2024 on a shopping trip
  • Leather boots - Baroque Velasquez, Fluevog; last seen here in December 2025 (way down in the party pictures) on Caro, and last seen here on me in December 2024
  • Boucle wool/mink fur coat (below) - vintage 60s, thrifted; first worn here last week

It helps that it's not cloudy out.
Another cold, clear day! I'll take it!

I wanted to wear this tweed miniskirt - it's a chi-chi brand, and I adore the badass studs along the hem. I bookended it with ruffled burgundy.
"What are we doing?"

Someone's coming in for a visit!

I love the big floofy sleeves on this sweater. It's also a nice shape and colour.
"Pick me up!"

Oh, all right. He's such a little cuddle-monkey.
This is the second morning in a row. Whateley lurks around...

The sleeves in my new coat are wide enough to hold the giant ruffles of the sweater.
It's something I have to factor in when I wear it.

The stuff:
These boots are so sweet. I still love them, even though I don't wear them as much as I used to.

  • Wool beret - thrifted
  • Angel brooch - gift from Alison
  • Silk scarf - Pierre Balmain, thrifted
  • Leather/cashmere gloves - Club Monaco, consignment

Brutalist bling:
The sweater is also a good backdrop for some of my collection.

  • Hinged pewter cuff - Robert Larin, vintage 70s, vintage mall, gift from L
  • Tiled pewter and gold cuff - Robert Larin, vintage 70s, vintage mall, gift from L
  • Hematite ring - thrifted (I use it to hold the big ring in place)
  • Brutalist ring - vintage 70s, Mom's
  • Square ring - thrifted
  • Earrings - marked but illegible, vintage mall
  • Pewter necklace - Robert Larin, vintage 70s, vintage mall, gift from L

The necklace was the first piece of Robert Larin that L bought me.

And now, Gentle Reader, I'm signing off for a short break - I'll leave you with some kitten pictures.
"That lady is cuddly!"             "She throws paper balls adequately."

They keep me company while I'm writing.
Oh, that is the sweetest thing! Sending you all warm naps and furry hugs.

I'll be back on Sunday with tales of adventure! See you then!

  1. There's nothing cuter than sleeping kitties! Love the Brutalist bling. Our tastes in both jewelry and clothing are so similar.

  2. Like Shybiker I have to start with the kitties! Oh my gosh, how is it that they become cuter with each new set of pictures!!!!! I want to snuggle with them!
Yay for a stair picture! Oy, we have 17 inches (!) of snow forecast for this Sunday. Haven't seen that kind of quantity in 10 years!
Your outfit looks snuggly warm, probably due to the rich burgundy color of the top and the fact that the skirt is wool.
    Cheers, Laurie

    1. They are the sweetest boys, and just keep getting cuter, Laurie!
I know, it's good to have them back, even though it's a bit dim still. Yikes, 17 inches is a LOT! Hope you and Fred are staying warm!
      Thank you!

  3. That's a cute outfit but I warn you, do not do jigsaw puzzles in that sweater! I have a sweater with big sleeves that balloon around, and one time I inadvertently swept a whole corner of a puzzle off the table with my sleeve!

    1. Agreed! I stay away from pretty much anything with those big sleeves.

  4. The Karl L. sweater is fabulous and it matches those gorgeous boots so nicely. The tweed wool mini skirt is so rock and roll. A fantastic combo, from head to toe. You always accessorize so well.
So nice to see your kittens. They seem so loving!

P.S. Thank you for your thoughtful comment. I think my problem right now is that my actual painting skills are behind my artistic imagination and vision. It's been a while since I really 'painted'. I'm sure I'll get out of this phase eventually. It can be painful being stuck between phases and feeling like you're losing your skill. Plus, sometimes when you're exhausted, something as silly as a virus can knock you totally down.

  5. Oh, I love the big floofy sleeves on this sweater! It's so nice! The colour is warm and attractive and the combination of the boots with it is so nice and the contrast to the grey tweedy! The new coat is an utter dream!
