This week, I'll be getting my theme on and dressing for Hallowe'en, my favourite holiday.
This is my "mummy" jacket.
- Cotton jacket - Jean Paul Gaultier, vintage 00s, thrifted; last worn here with a big pouffy skirt in July
- Wool sweater - Bartolini, consignment; last seen here (3rd outfit) in February for brunch
- Skirt - Zara, consignment; first worn here in September with cream wrinkles
- Shoes - Mission Monica, Fluevog; last seen here in March with a wooly bell skirt
- Leather trenchcoat (below) - vintage 70s, thrifted; last worn here in April
The strapping reminds me of mummy bandages - there is more strapping on the right sleeve.
The twisty skirt also reminded me of dusty mummified wrappings. Add a little orange to the mix and boom, good to go.

The stuff:
Comfy shoes, for not much walking. I was training my Vancouver counterpart most of the morning.

No kitten pictures, but there are lots in the weekend post, so make sure you check it out!
Seeing your amber bling reminded me that some years ago I wandered along a beach in Poland hoping to find some raw amber washed up. Earlier this year we were in Lithuania and there was a shop entirely dedicated to amber items of all kinds. It was a treat to explore, but I didn't buy any as DH was with me, and I take too long to make decisions!
ReplyDeleteBaltic amber is gorgeous, it has a greenish tinge to it often. I am a big fan of it. I feel that - I'm also very fussy, and it drives my husband mad! :D
DeleteI “third” the choosy, picky, fussiness surrounding purchases. If I’m going to get something, I want the one that speaks to me! (Husband sufficiently antsy here, too. Oh well. He knew what he was getting into when he married me, lol) readerrita
DeleteHa ha, we should all shop together, and leave the husbands behind! :D
DeleteYour mummy and amber outfit is much to my liking, Sheila! I'm swooning over your amber bling and I'm completely bowled over by those shoes.
ReplyDeleteI'll forgive you for the lack of kitten pictures. Only this once though :-) xxx
Thank you, Ann! I love having all my amber out. The shoes are lovely, aren't they?
DeleteYes, sorry, I didn't save any from the weekend, and honestly, there are only so many pictures of kittens in the sink and sleeping I can post!
Oh, I love Hallowe’en and amber-time. Great outfit! Now that you mention it, I clearly see the mumminess of the jacket! Very apropos. Fall is a such delight! Cheers, readerrita
ReplyDeleteSame, Rita! I adore my amber. Yeah, it's not overtly mummy-ish, just a slight evocation.
